The WItcher 3 is the primary reason why I wanted to get a PS4. I really hope it comes out this year. The story in The WItcher 2 is great and all, but I think that the real draw is how they handle choices. The game is split up into three different acts and the second act can be drastically different depending on your choices.

Happy Thursday you BaD mutha f’ers! The weekend is nigh so chin up, gather round and listen to uncle Shane’s Top 5 most anticipated for 2014
Final Fantasy X/X-2 (Vita, March 18)
I’ll start with the only game I currently have pre-ordered; a HD remaster which I missed out on first time round. This FF entry seems to have a somewhat love/hate thing going for it (imagine that?) but everything I’ve seen & heard should put me on the love side of things. I picked the Vita version over the PS3 as there is something about playing RPG’s on a handheld that is so comforting to me. Weird but whatever.
Dragon Age: Inquisition (PS4, TBD)
This will be my reason for getting a PS4 and will most likely dictate whether I play anything else remaining on this list in 2014. An official release date is yet to be announced, but I am very excited about Dragon Age: Inquisition. Combine the gorgeous stills already posted with what I’ve read about the developers pushing for a much more open world experience and it promises gamers a very beautiful and very detailed world to explore. I can only do open world games so many times a year but this would be my choice for 2014.
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (PS4, March 18)
I know this is also coming out for PS3 but I would feel as if I was purchasing an inferior product if I purchased it on that system. A fault of my own no doubt but one that cannot be overcome. I have some concerns about the amount of content in the game but in reality, if I am to purchase a PS4, there is no way I would not pick this up. Again, graphics look very polished and I’m excited for the more open gameplay promised.
Tekken X Street Fighter (PS4, TBD)
Fighting games have always been among my go-to genres and Tekken is probably my favourite of all. I purchased Tekken 6 three times in total (once for 360 and twice for PS3) and must have put in over 100 hours into it by the end. What excites me most about this game is that it will use the Tekken 3D fighting engine as opposed to Street Fighters 2D. I tend to really suck at 2D fighters (not for the want of trying) so I tend to ignore them for the most part. No release date or even platform has been set for this one yet, but Tekken X Street Fighter would be a day one for me if circumstances go right.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (PS4, TBD)
Rounding out the list is The Witcher 3. Due to the fact that I sold my 360 back in 2010 and my lack of a high performance gaming PC, I’ve never played any of this series. Shame really. My biggest reason for sticking with a game tends to be the story and from what I’ve read, that’s the one thing this series does exceptionally well. Another open world game might be pushing it for me, but everything I’ve seen looks really interesting.
And there ya have it folks. While we don’t yet have many firm release dates, it promises to be another great year for gaming.
Let me know what new games you’re most excited about.
