BaD #04

It’s rather fitting that most of us are enjoying the latest spell of winter weather as the Winter Olympics are starting to get underway at Sochi. Despite the news about killing stray dogs, unfinished hotels, Shaun White dropping out of Slopestyle and the first events underway even before the opening ceremonies, I find myself even less interested in the Olympics than usual. Not sure if it’s because of the politics involved with the selection of Russia or all the silliness surrounding the said politics, but the Olympics in general have not held much sway with me since the networks are doing all they can to make the events more into dioramas of the athletes than the actual events they take place in. Even the medal count sounds more like bragging rights than a celebration of athletic prowess.

Instead I usually find myself trying to have fun with my own “Winter Games”. I usually choose a select few game titles that I find myself enjoying during this time of the year when the snow is out, there is a chill in the air and there is nothing better on TV since the Winter Olympics takes over regularly scheduled programming.  Sounds like a good time to name out a few choice game titles I like to go back to when I feel like holding my own version of “Winter Games”. Not sure how many games I’ll choose or how far I’ll go with this idea (seriously I’m grasping at straws here) but given I have a previous blog to help refresh my memory, I’m sure I might be able to blog about something interesting.

I’ve got to get myself a better camera or something. My tablet’s camera hasn’t been the same since the last update. Hopefully you can still tell the difference from yesterday.

Wise BaD Message of the Day: If you got all the powerball numbers on your ticket but they don’t show up in the order they were drawn, DON’T THROW IT AWAY! Take it from experience….

It should be interesting to see your picks. I don't really have any winter games. Although I did put an absurd amount of time into Final Fantasy 7's snowboarding minigame trying to get perfect scores and what not.

I'm sure they'd be interesting too. Too bad I bit off more than I could chew and never got to do this during BaD. I hang my head in shame. =(

Frak those russian pig-dogs! Thanks. I really need to see about combing my hair when I do these selfies.

My biggest winter game is Skyrim. Not only is it set in a cold, snowy climate, but since it was released in winter (or really close to it), I really associate playing it with it being cold out.

I need to try that game! I've been putting it off to ensure I get the "definitive" version and now that it's here I need to play in that game's winter wonderland!

This week, my wife won $50 on a lottery ticket and didn't know it.  She almost threw it away.

I almost did the same just recently. Instead of $50 though it was a $4 win. But a win's a win!

I've lost interest in the Olympics ever since they announced that Wrestling is no longer an olympic event. The stuff going on in Russia is just more of a reason for me not to watch it, though I'll at least root for the athletes in spirit since it's not their fault.

It was big mistake that they got rid of Wrestling. My area is suffering from it with a big drop off of highschool/college wrestling programs.

Kind of the same way myself when it comes to the athletes. But I'd wish we stop with the diorama's of the athletes. It's nice to know where they came from but I don't need an 45+ minutes of thier life's story.

With the many problems in Russia and the controversies surrounding the homophobia, it's no wonder why I can't also find excitement on this Winter Olympics. Then again, I come from hot weather where there's no snow, so that's another reason.

but playing in the snow is fun! you should try it if you can when your overseas. Make a snow angel for me!

The coverage of the Olympics in the US is terrible, which is too bad, because I used to really like watching a lot of the winter events. Ski jumping, slalom, downhill, bobsled, and luge are few of my favorites. I just get so annoyed with the coverage that it's not fun any more. And the politics are definitely a turn-off, too.

There are certain types of games that I like to play in the winter. RPGs for some reason, maybe because they're the kinds of games that you can spend a snowy, stormy winter day playing and drinking hot cocoa and feeling snug and warm.

It was particuallary hard in trying to avoid the spoilers given how alternative media usually breaks the news before the other news outlets report it.

I miss having those days when I can curl up to an RPG during a snow storm. Usually I have to work during those times =(

When this was introducing sports on TV, I was into the Winter Olympics.

So it's been a while since I really watched any Olympic event.

I miss that intro. I remember seeing that too as I grew up. I recall they did a news report about the guy now being famous for that wipe out he was in. I think it ruined his life.
