Game Purchases of 2013 - Physical Games

Quick note: For some reason a few of my pics are sideways.  I don't know why.  Hopefully it will fix itself in time.  Kind of like the pic sizes fixing themselves.  Maybe I should just stop using photobucket. Undecided

I finally got this done.  I've been a bit busy (and injured) lately, so I had to do a rush job this year.  I didn't take the time to do my pics the way I wanted, but from what I did, it's decent enough.  Better late than never. Laughing

I wanted to get Bioshock Infinite the first time I saw the trailer for it.  Damn good game.  Game on the bottom right is Akai Katana.  It's a pretty good shooter.  I need to get on L.A. Noire.

 photo DSCF1414_zpsea54728a.jpg

I'm more satisfied with Ninja Storm 3 than I was with Generations.  Lollipop Chainsaw was surprisingly fun.  Wet was a bit disappointing, but I plan to give it another shoot.  I heard Mind Jack was a bad game.  I hadn't played it yet.  I played a bit of Burnout.  I think I'm playing it wrong.  I can't find any races.

 photo DSCF1412_zps03164432.jpg

I think I'm all Soul Calibured out.  I was bored to death with SC4.  Dead or Alive 4 was a bit boring too.  Hopefully this year I can get to Borderlands and Call of Juarez.

 photo DSCF1415_zpsf6efccf9.jpg

I finally got the Jedi Knight games.  Accidentally bought 2 copies of Jedi Academy.  I thought I would love Dragon's Dogma.  I really enjoyed the demo.  I waited and got the Dark Arisen version.  I just wasn't into it.  I'll probably give it another chance this year.

 photo DSCF1417_zps459e7fb2.jpg

I plan to play Xillia real soon.  Ni no Kuni is great.  My kids are always asking me to play through it again.  Played Shadow of Colossus a bit.  I beat it on the PS2.  I still hadn't played Ico.  Mass Effect Trilogy (PS3) is not my favorite.  It's great if you have no other choice than the PS3.  I tried Dragon's Crown for a bit and really couldn't get into it.  I still need to jump on Jak & Daxter.

 photo DSCF1416_zps9669857d.jpg

I accidentally bought 2 copies of Valkyrie Chronicles.  I also bought another Resistance.  I forgot I bought a copy the year before.  I started the Metal Gear Solid Legacy Collection.  I wanted to start the series from the very beginning and ran into a problem not being able to save in Metal Gear.  GH helped me with my problem, but I hadn't been back to the game since.  I bought Little Big Planet Racing so I could play it with my kids.  The box says it's only single player.  What?

 photo DSCF1418_zpsd6b73f32.jpg

I hadn't played any of these.  I got MLB because I hadn't played a basketball game since probably the NES. Laughing

 photo DSCF1422_zpsec02ad96.jpg

I got U Draw real cheap.  My kids play with it.  I would like to get a 2nd one.  If I ever get a Vita, I'll get to play Persona 4 Golden.  I would like to get a case and manual for Phantom Brave.  My pc is too trash to play The Witcher.

 photo DSCF1419_zpsc7ff09a3.jpg

Missing from this pic is Super Smash Bros. Brawl.  I hadn't played any of these games.  Now that my Wii is back in my game room, I'll probably play more Wii games this year.

 photo DSCF1424_zpseb0fc702.jpg

The one system I did play a lot of was my 3DS.  I finished Shin Megami Tensei IV, Fire Emblem: Awakening, The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, and that frustrating Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon.  I also played The Legendo of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner - Soul Hackers.  I didn't finish them though.  Playing OoT on the 3DS hurt my head.  I couldn't move the camera around the way I like and Soul Hackers is a bit too outdated.  I wish Atlus had took the time to update the game's ingame graphical interface.  I really wanted to like this game.

 photo DSCF1421_zpsb8d28c56.jpg

I had to buy another copy of Loco Roco.  I'm lead to believe the copy I bought the year before was stolen.  Now I need a case and manual for this game.  I hear Tactics Ogre is good.  I'll try to get on it this year.  Class of Heroes 2 had a limited physical release, so I jumped on it.  I also picked up Class of Heroes 1 while I still could.  I tried playing MGS: Portable Ops, but I had problems with the camera.

That's all I have.  I think I did better this year.  I have under 100 physical games.  I think the count is 73.  Sadly, if I add the digital games (59), that puts me over 100 games but still less than the number of games I purchased last year.  Awesome!  I'm less addicted to games than last year! Laughing

I have bought plenty of games multiple times, but I don't think that I ever did it accidentally.  I think that I picked up Half-Life on the PS2 three different times because I sold the first two copies.

I bought multiple copies of games too, but sometimes I buy games I forgot I already own.  It happens because I don't play many of the games I have.

You can rotate pics in Paint. You might be able to do it in Photobucket too. Nice haul though! I got Bioshock Infinite on PC recently. It was free with a gift card I got from Dell. I bought Tactics Ogre a ways back. Despite the vast amounts of praise that game gets, I keep putting it off. It can be intimidating starting something like that.

When I uploaded the pics, some of them were sideways.  So, I rotated them right side up on photobucket.  I post them here and it didn't fix the problem.  I also resized them and they're still huge.  The sizing issues usually fixes itself in a day or 2.  I'm hoping the rotating issues does the same.

Man that's a lot of games. I've been meaning to pick up Let Us Cling Together but I haven't done it yet.

I had been putting it off for a long time.  I decided to get it one day I walked into GameStop.  I don't see it in the stores anymore.

Sorry about the injury,James. I've read from a few people the class of heroes games aren't too shabby! I also plan on going back to Lollipop chainsaw soon.

jgusw

02/08/2014 at 03:41 PM

Have you played Lollipop Chainsaw yet?

As of now I completed the "school area" and I'm going through it again just to grind. The only dark purveyor I've killed so far is Zed. lol.

So you're the one hoarding all the Jedi Academy gamesTongue Out

Awesome pickups! Lots of cool games. I have yet to run into the original Crackdown, you probably already know but the Tony Hawk game needs the skateboard deck controller. I had a lot of fun playing the first one with the family, and I haven't tried the second one yet. If you have a Big Lots in your area check them out. The local one has the UDraw tablets for $10 but every gaming item is 30% off right now.

Props to you my friend for keeping the physical game count under 100. I think I hit that mark already for 2014, SMH.

You hit 100 games already?!  Damn! Surprised  I think I'm at 5 for the year right now.

I have the board.  I bought it a while back.  It can with Tony Hawk Ride.  I would like to get a 2nd board.

I don't think there is a Big Lots in my area, but there is one in my parents' town.  I'll have my mom check it out for me.

Sorry to hear about your injury.  I hope you get better.

Great pickups!  Those are some awesome games.  Valkyria Chronicles is worth buying multiple times.  I also bought Persona Golden (and Muramasa Rebirth) even though I don't own a Vita yet either...  Two of my favorite games of the year didn't do it for you.  I played through Dragon's Crown with friends, which is probably the optimal way to play that game.  Dragon's Dogma gets better the deeper you get, and some of the best content is the end of game stuff.  Still you have such a large and great collection, you probably don't want to waste time with stuff you don't like.

Yeah, if I don't like a game, I move on.  Many games I didn't like, I go back to them later and actually enjoy.  I plan to do that with Dragon's Crown and Dragon's Dogma.

I'm kind of regretting not picking up Class of Heroes 2. That game is already going for $70 and up on ebay and I wouldn't be surprised if it would be worth 2 or 3 hundred in a few years.

I didn't know anything about Class of Heroes 2 until a friend made a post about the preorder on a forum.  I hit the link on the post and read that the publishers were only going to make enough physical games to fill the preorders.  I had no choice but to jump on it.  Preorders also came with a digital copy of the game.

Yay for fewer games than last year?

jgusw

02/08/2014 at 07:52 PM

Yep. Laughing  I started these blogs to curve my spending.  Fewer games mean less money spent on games and fewer games in the backlog.  I'm surprised I bought so many games.  I'm still averaging over 10 games a month.  I'm trying to be more responsible.  I have to save more of my money for my 5 children. Laughing

That's a lot of games.

I think I'll play Alice: Madness Returns once I'm done with Tomb Raider.

I'm not sure when I'll start Alice.  Tomb Raider is on my to get list.  I may pick it up this year.

That's a good haul for the year! Donkey Kong Country Returns is a great co-op platformer and pretty difficult too. I think my 3DS probably got the most use last year too, and will probably get a ton more this year.

I hope to get to Donkey Kong Country Returns this year.  I looks like a good game.

But...I see it up there in one of your pictures. That's the reason I mentioned it lol

Many of my games look good, but that doesn't mean I'll play them any time soon. Laughing

Nice haul. You need to get The Last of Us. I been wondering how Aquaplaza is. I still haven't played Ni No Kuni but I don't want to open the box. Its gonig for so much brand new. Anyway, nice haul.

jgusw

02/09/2014 at 01:19 AM

I got to get The Last of US too.  Maybe this year.  My copy of Aquaplaza isn't open yet.

OMG! I didn't even know there was a HD collection for Jak and Daxter! I may need to aquire that...

Also, looking at some of these games, you may not like my next list...

Oh, and Call of Jaurez: Bound in Blood? Sorry... you need to see this. I'm sorry you bought that one... so sorry.

jgusw

02/09/2014 at 01:49 AM

I played the demo and thought it was ok.  I'm not big on FPS, so I doubt I'll notice much wrong with it.  I'll probably get all the Call of Jaurez games for the 360.

Get Gunslinger. That is actually an amazing game. It's quite different from your average shooter in terms of plot anyway.

Class of Heroes looks really cool. I'd like to have those games. On to backloggery to add them to my wishlist.

I guess it's a whole years worth, but damn that's a lot of games! You've quite a few pickups that i'm very interested in getting as some stage, namely: Dragons Crown, Mass Effect Trilogy & Tales of Xillia. Many an hour right there...

jgusw

02/10/2014 at 10:26 AM

Hopefully I can start Xillia or one of the Tales games soon.  They keep pumping them out and I'm just collecting them.

Nice load for the year. I wonder how I did. perhaps I should start keeping track this year.

At this rate your going to have to make a seperate list of games "you've bought twice" just to see how often you forget you already own a game!
