I'm really looking forward to this. I don’t think I’ve been this excited for a Square-Enix game for a few years. Now, if only my mail could arrive sooner. P.S. I kind of wish North America had the European box art.

You may remember I was excited for this in a previous blog. And yeah, I really liked it for the six hours it lasted!  I think I finished the game with every character in two days. The online community also seems to be completely dead, despite the game only being a few months old. The lack of content didn’t bother me too much though, because it was cheap and I have a lot of other games to play.

I didn’t like this as much as I thought I would. Apparently, my brain is 40 years old… but it’s the game’s fault! Seriously, half the time it can’t recognize my writing and almost all of the challenges are based on speed. Okay, so I have messy writing, but blame it on my hands, not my brain!

This one was a little disappointing as well. The puzzles are interesting, but many of them can be better solved with random guessing than actual thinking. I don’t know, maybe it’s because I prefer my mysteries more gritty, dark, and atmospheric. Hotel Dusk will probably be better suited for me.

I’ve been meaning to play this once it dropped in price. With the release of the GOTY edition, now seems like a good time. Apparently, this game just recently became profitable. I still don’t know why Square put so much money into the game. When was the last time a Tomb Raider game sold close to five million copies?

Anyway, I’m really happy BaD is back. So many blogs that I can never keep up with. It’s pretty awesome.

Tombraider was a great game for me personally but S/E had really ridiculous expectations for it. I mean it "did" do well. It just didn't reach the astronomically ludicrous sales numbers the corporate suits wanted it to.

I had the same thoughts earlier last year, though according to them it got into the black a few months ago. Maybe they factored in the budget for next-gen version of the game (which likely once again won't sell anywhere near their expectations).

I'm enjoying Bravely Default so far.  They should've just called it Final Fantasy, though, as that's basicallly what it is.

From what I'm hearing it's specifically like a PS1 Final Fantasy title. And that is why I'm really excited for it.

Enjoy Bravely Default. I wasn't really  big fan of the Tomb Raider reboot, felt it was as mediocre as AAA games get. I tried giving it a chance for what it was since I wanted more of an emphasis on platforming, but it didn't really do the new things it introduced well enough to justify the shift to me.

I have no attachment to the Tomb Raider franchise, so as long as it gives me some good gameplay and memorable moments I'll probably be satisfied. Well, I was kind of hoping it wasn't another all-style, no-substance AAA game.

With all the talk about the new Tomb Raider here, both positive and negative, i've been interested in trying the game. That, and maybe to piss off Blake :P

Yeah, there are games out there that are worth playing just to be part of the conversation. Sometimes that's more interesting than the game itself!

I plan to start Bravely Default tonight at work.  I think I'll pick up Tomb Raider at some point this year.

I'm too afraid to bring my 3DS to work and get it dirty! I need to buy a case soon.

I like TR so far. I'm glad it still looks pretty, even though I only have the minimum graphics card required.

As for Brain Age, I have Big Brain Academy, which relies a lot less on your handwriting and I don't remember ever being frustrated by something that wasn't my fault.

Sounds like I should have gotten Big Brain Academy instead. I'm kind of too sour from Brain Age to get interested again though.

I don't know if I'm going to be able to resist getting BRavely Default.  Everybody's talking about it!

Even waiting for the game to arrive is tough. I can't believe Japan got this game a year and a half ago.

Nice, we both bought that Professor Layton game recently. I don't know if Canada has Big Lots, but they were blowing out their games at 50% off and that's where I picked up my copy.

Looking back at when I bought Tomb Raider, I should have waited to get this version especially since I have yet to play my copy. Oh well.

Good stuff man!

Well, yep I did pick this Layton game out of a bargain bin for $10!

Yeah, I pretty much always wait to buy a game when I know I'm going to play it right away. I haven't played a new Uncharted in over two years, and Tomb Raider is probably as close as it gets to that.

The Brain Age games bore me pretty quickly. Doing simple math at breakneck speed is not my idea of "training my brain".

Yeah, I always considered myself pretty good at math, but for some reason I still can't get the top high score on that one (even though I can on the others). Maybe Japanese teachers have ridiculous standards.

I remember wishing the game had harder math problems. Or harder everything. The game way too darn easy. Baby easy.

Halochief90

Yeah they were really simple problems, it just couldn't read my writing. I imagine if they were harder though, people would cheat with calculators. Not like cheating on your own brain training will get you far.

I remember having to draw the numbers just so to get the DS to read them right. Kinda messed up my Sudoku sometimes.
