I got the urge to try Kotor recently, due to Blake's list of favorite RPGs, which had mostly games that allowed for multiple choices and paths. Since I wanted to try a game like that (even if Dishonored has some bits of it), I decided to install Kotor yesterday (which I had since the Steam summer sale of 2012, but never played), and played two hours of it.

Not really much to say, except that it really seems interesting. Combat is a bit weird for me since I haven't played a game like this before, and that also aplies to the RPG elements, but I can see myself getting used to those things and getting the hang of them. I'm also surprised by the costumizations you can aply to your character.

I decided to start just for curiosity as a female explorer, and instead of letting the game choose the stats for me, I decided to give her some boosts in mechanics, or atleast that's what I understood. In combat, I tried both with the swords and blasters, but decided to remain in swords and i'm even wielding two at once.

Well, that's all I got for today. If you think i'm playing the game wrong, or you want to give me any advice, just say it.

Oh, and tomorrow i'm going to blog about that game i've been keeping as a secret.

My favorite game ever. Female explorer is a good choice, but just keep in mind more unorthodox ways to fight, like that bit in the demo with the choice to repair the droid or hack the terminal. Also just keep in mind that dual weilding leads to a lot more misses than weilding one weapon if you don't have a perk for it. Hope you enjoy that game, I was that same way with RPGs when I first played it.

Got it. The good thing is that the game allows for experimentation, so I can just try other kinds of weapons to see which fits better.

Yeah, I'd recommend sticking with a simple blaster early on and rely on a tankish party member until you can get either the dueling or dual weilding perk, then switch to swords. Best to get those early too because you will want a lightsaber.

You can have a lot of fun playing with the stats of your characters but like most RPG's, there's a lot to learn. I generally go combat heavy with my main and use the remainder of my group for computer stats, etc. and healing.

For my first time, i'm doing like Dishonored and experiment with everything to see which fits better.

KOTOR is great!  Glad you're enjoying it.  It's a very deep game with a lot of gameplay.  Great story and characters too.  Just a classic.

I definitly can't wait to continue the game.

I have no idea why I did that. I'm tired and for some reason that amused my tiny brain.

 THE SECOND GAME IS BETTER!

Maybe you're a fanboy of Snee? :P

Odly enough, I have Kotor 2 on the Xbox. It was one of the first games I got for the console, but because I didn't know shit about english and because it was probably too deep for me, I never manage to even pass the first part, aka The Ship which you have to fix with a droid.

Sleep deprived Blake weirds normal Blake out sometimes. Don't worry.

Fair enough. I keep forgetting English isn't your first language.

Secret game? Hmm...

I'll give you some clues: It's set in a high school, there's pink blood and the villain says "Upupu".

TWEWY, maybe? No clue, honestly.

It isn't that, and what does TWEWY stands for?

GREAT GAME!!! It is a lot of fun and has a lot of depth. I like it because you can play in an unorthodox fashion and still be successful. Have fun!

Thanks. Yeah, I saw that the game allows for a lot of costumization.

KotOR is one of my favorite games.  I played it all the time until I found Mass Effect.

Better first impression than me. After my first combat encounter I was turned off. How could I not survivve the first fight when I was armed to the teeth!

Maybe because you didn't lock on the enemy to do the attak action :P
