I'm curious about Toukiden too, but I've heard so mnay good things about Bravely Default from friends I trust that it's great. I don't know anybody with Toukiden. I do know IGN gave it a middling review.

Hello Pixlbit! Haven't been blogging for a while and unfortunately missed out on the BaD event everyone's been doing. As you may know from the title, this post is about Bravely Default and Toukiden: The Age of Demons. When I first heard about Toukiden, I was excited to see a game similar to Monster Hunter coming to the vita once again. I was very pleased to play through the first game that has that genre, which is Soul Sacrifice. When I stumbled upon the Toukiden demo, I immediately hit the download button. I played through the whole demo and enjoyed it very much. I went back to it to start a new character and felt burnt out from it already. Which didn't make sense because I loved Soul Sacrifice and felt as though there was always something new every level.
Now onto Bravely Default. When I first downloaded the demo, I didn't know what to expect. I just keep hearing so much hype about it from other people. My first time playing it, I couldn't get into it at all. I was never the avid turn based rpg player. I always watched my cousins play the old Final Fantasy games when I was a kid. I was never into the genre. I liked watching the cutscenes and hearing about the story. Not so much into the combat. Surprisingly, my girlfriend is more into the Final Fantasy type of games because she's a huge fan of the Kingdom Hearts series. She probably doesn't know it, but I think she's put in so much time into those games as much as a dedicated gamer would if they were playing Final Fantasy. So I played the demo for a good 15 mins and didn't seem to enjoy it. I deleted it from my 3DS XL and continued to play Rune Factory 4. When I walked into my local Gamestop, there were multiple posters of Bravely Default all around the store. Usually, if a game advertises this much, I have an urge to look it up myself. So I gave the demo another chance. I started to get a feel for it and began to enjoy it a little. I tend to watch a lot of walkthroughs on youtube and read up on reviews or opinions on games through GameFAQS and by doing that for a few days, I then noticed myself putting in two hours into the demo. I was shocked to see how much time I've already invested into it. I don't know why I didn't see it before, but I then realized Square Enix was behind this game. I finally understood why this game had so much hype built into it. I started to look deeper into forums and saw people say this game relates to Final Fantasy series.
Between the Bravely Default and Toukiden demos, BD definitely has the longest playthrough for me. I wound up buying Bravely Default a couple days ago and have yet to open it because I'm very indecisive. So I keep reading forums about the game and opinions of people who've already bought the game and put in a numerous amount amount of time into it. So far I've read positive things about the game. I've only seen a few reviews and impressions of Toukiden. I'm sure it gets the attention of gamers who are fans of Monster Hunter and Soul Sacrifice.
So today, I actually bought Toukiden: The Age of Demons and as Bravely Default, I have yet to open it due to my indecisive personality. I've been reading forums for hours trying to make up my mind. I really would like to open Bravely Default because it seems like its the JRPG turn of the century type of game right now for a lot of people, but I also would like to return it and maybe play it another time when I see a lot more playthrough videos and reviews about the game. I also have the same thing with Toukiden. One thing holding me back from returning Bravely Default is the fact that only one Gamestop in the town I live in has two copies and no others have it in stock. So it seems to me there's a high demand for this title.
So there's my video game rant for the day. Didn't realize how long this post was until I started typing this sentence. Hope you guys and gals have an great week!
