Linked to Article Series: Blog a Day (BaD) 2014

Happy hump day my courteous and courageous companions!

To follow up on yesterday’s blog; I got my car sorted last night with new tires following the blowout. My neighbours kindly referred me to a great local shop which seemed very honest and fair. They explained the reason for the blowout, which eases my mind some sort and installed the new tires in no time. Things are already looking up for this week after my Monday blues.

On the gaming side of things: I played about an hour last night of MGS Peace Walker. As I mentioned previously, I’m playing this on the HD Collection for my first playthrough. It’s very obvious from the get go that the game was designed for portable play; short mission structure combined with quick pick up and play action. Overall I’m enjoying the experience but it’s making me slightly itchy to restart MGS4 (also Epic Greenman’s write up didn’t help http://www.pixlbit.com/blog/5771/metal_gear_solid_4_according_to_greenman). Maybe after. According to howlongtobeat.com, the main story for Peace Walker is about 18 hours long so I figure I’ll see it out. One awesome thing about the game that sets it apart from the rest of the series is the cutscenes. Instead of the typical MGS graphical masterpiece of a cutscene, these are portrayed in the distinctive MGS artwork that often features on the gamebox and in the manual. Although this was most likely introduced due to the specification limitations of the PSP, it’s a nice change of pace that I appreciate.

 MGS

Yep, still a badass!

For tonight, I think I’ll probably play some more Peace Walker or maybe some XCOM. I’ll have to see what strikes my mood.

Later

The HD collection would be good for you then as it has 2, 3 & Peace Walker but no MGS 1. Also has Metal Gear 1 & 2 if those interest you.

I'm hoping to get the MGS Legacy Collection sometime. I've always wanted to play co-op Peace Walker.

Yeah actually, I never realised that was a possibility until last night. Would be really fun for sure.

Maybe I'll this up if I ever get a PS3. Either that or get the 3DS version of MGS3 once I finish up Bravely Default.

My only concern with MGS3 on the 3DS is the lack of a second thumbstick (unless you have the add-on). I'm not sure how they account for that to check out your surroundings. Perhaps the D pad

I knew I should have picked up that HD Collection when I had the chance...

Glad to hear about the neighbors sending you to a good tire place. A lot of those places are aren't fair and try to take advantage of folks.

Yeah absolutely. I'm not exactly someone who would argue a price either so if I was to get screwed i'm unlikely to say anything. Much better to avoid those sorts of things in the first place.

And the HD Collection is great but you might as well go with the Legacy Collection now if you planning on buying a collection. Legacy has everything so far. http://www.amazon.com/Metal-Gear-Solid-Collection-Playstation-3/dp/B00CTKHXFO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392315673&sr=8-1&keywords=metal+gear+solid+legacy+collection

Thanks for the link to the Amazon site. While reading through the contents of the set apparently I own all but MG 3&4. I'm going to try and find it in the wild here, and if not, hello Amazon!

It's starting to look like I'm giong to have to play this MGS game, moreso given how MGS V is a direct continuation of this game I'm told. Plus I need to get to MGS4 eventually.

I still haven't got around to finishing Peach Walker but did put a few more hours into it following this blog. The game plays well but the inidiviaual mission format isn't grabbing me. It doesn't have the cinematic pull the other MGS games have. Saying that though, I have not given up yet and will give it another go once i'm in the mood. I too want to complete it before I get MGSV
