Morning folks!

I’m feeling a little under the weather today with a pretty bad cold unfortunately (just in time for Valentine’s day, yay!). I took a Dayquil this morning and have tissues on standby so hopefully it dissipates soon enough. I rarely ever get sick so I might take a sick day tomorrow if I feel similar.

Speaking of Valentine’s day, my wife and I don’t usually do much for it. We have gone out to dinner in the past but this year being a Friday spells disaster to me. I think we’re just going to grab some Chinese food, drink some wine and watch a movie. I’ll grab a card and some candy today to surprise her in the morning. Nothing too fancy but it’s the thought that counts right.

As for gaming, last night I played some more of MGS Peace Walker and started to feel more in control of the systems in place. Other than simply completing the missions, in Peace Walker, Snake is in charge of the responsibilities of his unit’s personnel. Placing soldiers into different departments (e.g. R&D, Medic) impacts that groups effectiveness. Each individual soldier has different attributes so you can designate them to the appropriate department. I don’t totally understand the whole point of it yet but I’m sure it’ll click eventually. For the most part, I’m just going story mission to story mission and placing all my best troops in R&D for new weaponry.

haha I know the feeling. I've arrived into the office and been consumed with food thoughts for the entire day through lunch until dinner. Not too crazy I hope

It's a disaster for servers no matter what day Valentine's falls on. Having worked one at Outback Steakhouse and not finding the tips worth it, I think it's what hell might be like.

I really don't know how servers can put up with half the shit they take. I certainly couldn't do it. I always feel bad asking for something of a server but for some people, you'd swear they owned the place. I bussed tables for a summer and that was bad enough. People are assholes, its why Valentine's Day is so big I guess. Some people have to almost be forced to appreciate their partners. [End slight rant]

Haha, well I actually enjoyed bussing (but fuck kids, no offense if you have those messy little things) because I just worked, worked, worked without people's bullshit. It was great for me.

So was a position at Outback called Captain where I helped servers by bussing tables and refilling drinks of parties they had; you did that for half (weekends, where a second person had same position) or all of the restaurant as well as walked around with samples for people to try of desserts and drinks. That involved people, but only basic and sensible requests, so it was another "just go go go" position I loved. I like people until they start making things so much harder than they need to be, and while I totally get certain needs with medical reactions to food or legit complaints about bad service etc., boy can people can ignorant and overdemanding.

I love people, but there's that vocal minority that tends to ruin everything.

I've no kids so no worries but I get your point haha. Vocal minorities fuck everything up man. Seriously. Why can't we all just get along (as long as it's how I like it ).

Yeah agreed. From what I remember, it was fine. We just stayed in, ordered chinese food and watched a movie. I generally don't mind feeling a little under the weather as I use it as an excuse to take some time off work but it sucks when you actually want to do something.
