I had a blog planned for yesterday, but I guess my body saw fit to shut down, since I had been awake for too long. That's ultimately a good thing, my sleep schedule needed turning around anyway.

So to compensate, I'll give you yesterday's planned blog and today's in the same blog.

BaD Blog of the 12th

Yesterday, I worked 9 to 5 in my office to make up for not coming in Tuesday, since they were fixing the computer I tend to have to work with anyway (my job is a part time Graduate Assistantship, so usually I come in from 830 to 1230pm or similar times). Anyway, as some of you know, I'm Station Manager of KSAU (Twitter: @KSAURADIO, website: http://ksauradio.com, phone no.: 936-468-4000), so I figured I'd take pictures of some random vinyls in my office:

Mott the Hoople - Shades of Ian Hunter

Had you told me it was any other white rocker with shades, like Julian Casablancas (The Strokes), young Lou Reed (The Velvet Underground, R.I.P.), or maybe a Ramone, I'd have believed you ... they all look the same to me

Def Leppard - Hysteria

I do like Def Leppard

Jethro Tull - War Child

I guess when he won that Grammy over Metallica, he just decided to give his albums metal titles?

The Leather Nun - Force of Habit

Not Sure what this is, but not something you expect to find in a Bible Belt's radio station

Some of the new songs played yesterday on KSAU:

Some metal for ya

Bit more of a reggae flavor to calm things down

Love the guitar in this

A CD from my mailbox I'm reviewing for upload with some interesting song titles

Band: Malvador

CD: The Cats in The Walls

God bless the hilarious simplicity of some of the stuff we get in

Today's Blog

Obviously, I'd have to censor to get it on, but I kinda like it and I know how in Adobe Audition 3.0, so ....

Oh shit, it's Friday (correction: Thursday, but screw it) the 13th. Well, gotta put some fitting music here then:

Paint the Devil on the Wall ... that way, you'll be prepared for Valentine's Day, since he's red Laughing

Never knew this was a Friday the 13th Part VI tie in; in fact, I don't think I've ever seen one of those movies all the way through

Have a good day, Pixlbit!

I love that intro for Good mourning, Black Friday. That's one of my favorite intros ever. They could have ended that song after Mustaine says "WTF is this?!?!" and it still would have been awesome lol.

That makes me almost wish we were still a jazz station.

What I might end up doing is add that as a track to go beneath the DJ's vocals if I can get a hold of it legally. Thanks for sharing.

I meant like downloading. Sadly, streaming wouldn't help me get them on the station.

Cool, thanks. Now to find where in the hell I can get the original Vs. EP from Macklemore X Ryan Lewis, cause the remixes are not the versions I prefer, but those are what comes on legit music stores ... of course, maybe I should just free dl it, cause I'm pretty sure they'd understand the fact there is literally no other option. Even stumbled on Ryan Lewis's old website claiming you could dl the EP free, but it said "this artists has not set up free downloads yet ..."

I know exactly what you mean, I heard EPs of early Alice in Chains and Temple of the Dog but there was nowhere to buy them Frown

Friday the 13th VI served as my intro to Alice Cooper. I've seen all of them a bunch of times over, though I know they're not the best in terms of quality.

I forget what my intro to Alice Cooper was, but "No More Mr. Nice Guy" and "School's Out" are my favorites.

worse* ... I'm on a spelling troll roll with you, man. lol I'm not one to talk though, my grammar is pretty awful when I'm online, and I'm sure you can find errors in my blog, which I have yet to re-read.

And was that in reference to these guys?:

That Malvador album perfectly captures the garage band look (it even uses that ugly comic sans font).

They are actually pretty decent and use an accordion. I actually just got done censoring their song "Word of the Day" in my office not long ago.

Pixie Tickle Panty Party! I've never heard this song but that is a funny title.

I like Def Leppard. I'm always looking for their records.

Not a fan of Jethro Tull, don't care for the music, I can't remember which music show made fun of him winning best metal album while playing a flute, but it was one of my favorite segments. I hated playing Aqualung on Rockband Unplugged...but I did like the little shoutout in Anchorman.

That band has great titles and I'm going to get two of their songs on. A DJ's favorite; or maybe second favorite, because on their reviews, they have to note songs with explicit lyrics and leave those unrated ... I think I may change that, since I know how to censor music in Adobe Audition now; was the one you mentioned, according to her review.

I like Def Leppard, too, but I have never listened to the album that's in my office.

Oh, people give Tull, or at least The Grammys, shit for that Best Metal Album upset all the time. I've never heard his music much, so I don't have much of an opinion on him, other than he should not have won that Grammy. While we're at it, Billy Ray Cyrus had no business having his album be #1 at the same time Megadeth's "Countdown to Extinction" was #2. MegaDave just can not catch a break ... for his Achy Breaky Heart ...

Did you listen to "Live it Right" or "Past Life"? I didn't realize I put those two titles one after the other until now, but that works well ... anyway, I think you might like those.

No one is ever going to let the Grammy's or Jethro Tull for the slight against Metallica. What were they thinking?

Super Step Contributing Writer

02/16/2014 at 08:48 PM

To be fair, when was The Grammy a respected award?

This really solidifies its cluelessness.
