A BaD time to drive

I hate traffic! My drive to work is usually uneventful these days.

I leave the house about 7:15 AM and arrive at work around 7:40. Since we moved I can avoid major roads for the majority of my drive and it used to be a fairly relaxing time.

this morning it was a completely different journey. Cars were lined up everywhere, I got stuck behind some joker doing 50 KPH in a 70 and when I finally arrived at my work location I spent 5 minutes waiting to make a left turn into the parking lot while the entire population of ST. Thomas drove by me in the Northbound lane.

That is not a good way to start your day.

Oh leave me alone.

Yeah I tell the same thing to my wife all the time. There is nothing in my daily life that irks me like traffic. I generally avoid it in the mornings but the drive home always sucks. Listening to Podcasts helps but I'll go out of my way to stay away from traffic.

That panda is entirely too adorable. Don't show this picture to Chessa, she'll undoubtedly want one.

LOL, I don't think they sell them. She'll have to send you to China to catch one.

Crap, I don't want to go to China!

Whenever I drive in to Portland to Jason's place, I am reminded of how little I miss the commute. I love being seven miles from work versus 25, plus I can take the back roads and enjoy the pretty views of the Harraseeket River and the harbor.

Before we moved in July, my commute was 75% on a major city road involving 15 major intersections and regular construction and traffic tie ups on the way.

there are only 6 traffic lights on my entire trip now and I'm only on that major road for 2 or 3 minutes. I'd prefer it to be all country back roads but then I'd have unploughed roads to deal with in the winter and that's not fun.

I have to go at the same time despite my work starting much later, because parking on campus past 8am is impossible. Today I had to pour hot water on my car to open it, then several open spots were taken in front of me, forcing me to park as far as I would have had I just slept in. FFFFFuuuu .... panda, calm, panda, calm, panda, calm, what is KPH in MPH?, panda calm, panda calm ...

70 kph is 43.5 MPH  1K = 0.621371M

Y'know, I frankly don't care whether or not U.S.A. ever changes to kilometers for cars, since both MPH and KPH speedometers are in the cars anyway, and I've gotten used to MPH, but we really should start just showing what something costs without excluding the tax ... that has nothing to do with the metric system, but we should probably do that, too. I'm cool with us still having American Football instead of Futbol/Soccer, though.

I completely agree with having prices include tax. The price you pay should be just that, not a price plus x%

As for American Football, the only thing I have an issue with is it being called FOOTball. There's only one guy on the team who actually kicks the ball and that is only when they fail to make a touchdown or when handing the ball over to the other team. Why isn't called Runball, Passball, Spikeball or maybe even Fumbleball because all those things happen more frequently than kicking. LOL

I agree. lol I never understood why football was football. Soccer made sense, because socks go on your feet ... I say, since when I played rugby, we called it "smear the queer with rules ... ish (rugby: not the most PC sport in the world)," it should be called "put pads on and jump on other men ..."

I didn't realize that (according to Yahoo! Answers or something similar; grain of salt) Canada didn't have straight up prices, either. Come on Big Brother, you're the calm and collected one we're supposed to look up to. Tongue Out lol

Dealing with traffic's just one of the many reasons I don't really want to even learn how to drive.

I didn't start driving until I was in my 30's. Living in Toronto I could get from the 'burbs to downtown on the subway faster than by car so I never really needed to drive. I still don't like highway driving. Once you get anywhere close to Toronto the 401 highway is like Death Race 2000.

They're all frikkin' nuts, weaving in and out of traffic at twice the speed limit.

I almost want to rage quit driving some times.

The one thing I hate about driving is traffic...okay I hate two things, the other is other drivers, but that's another story.

Pandas! Pandas I say!

Statistically, driving is the most dangerous thing you can do in this society. I remember that every day and think, "why am I still driving for a living?" I must be insane. No accidents so far, but that's darn lucky considering the odds. I am trying to drive less. I'd love to find a job where I could take public transport and play 3DS on the way to work. Gotta make that happen pronto.

Sounds like what the New England Area of the East coast of the US went thru with their snow storms.

Damn that global warming!
