I like Spelunky but I think it is too small for my eyes on Vita. It's a good system for it, but I wish it was slightly bigger. Maybe it is available for Wii U? That would be cool.

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!
I know it’s a made up holiday but when you really think about it, aren’t they all? Anyway I’ve chosen to be excited for it seeing as season 2 of House of Cards is released on Netflix today. I’ve fun plans tonight involving the wife, myself, Chinese food, candy, wine and Kevin Spacey. What a riot!
I’m feeling a little better today with this cold of mine. The combination of Dayquil, Halls, Alka-Seltzer Cold & Nyquil is doing the trick. Quite a cacophony of over the counter medicines but there you have it.
I decided on a little change of pace last night and dove into Spelunky on the vita. One word to describe my progress: sucky. My feelings are a mixed bag when it comes to Spelunky. On one hand, it’s fun trying to navigate around the levels avoiding absolutely everything that moves but on the other hand it can be extremely frustrating. I played for about an hour last night and died about eight to ten times. That averages six to seven and a half minutes per playthrough. Bad. I didn’t even get past the first set of levels (mines). Come to think of it, I think I’ve only got past the mines once in the three hours or so I’ve put into the game. There are so many varied enemy types, attacking you in so many varied ways that in a lot of instances it feels like pure luck to have a chance at progressing at all. For example, at one stage last night, I carefully dropped down a floor after checking my surroundings only to be killed by an arrow that came from off-screen. I mean come on. There’s nothing I can really do to avoid that situation which is unfair but the game rejoices in putting the player through these situations. I’ve come to the conclusion that player mindset is important when playing Spelunky. A player needs to be relaxed and patient to play with the realization that they will die………………… a lot. Once the player goes in with this in mind and laughs off the stupid deaths, they’re in for a good time.
Yep, this'll probably kill me too...
Other than Spelunky, I played a little more of Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed also. I decided to mix it up a little and used BD Joe from Crazy Taxi instead of Sonic. BD has max stats in top speed but most of his other stats are below par. It was a nice change for a while but I’ll probably stick with Sonic long term. He’s the typical all-rounder.
Look at that smile
Anyway, have a lovely Friday folks and enjoy the weekend! I hope you’re all not totally hindered by snow.
