Most people have a top 10 or top 5 favorite games list. Most people have games that they'll replay over and over and over. I have enjoyed many games in my 15+ years of gaming. But these are my top 5 in no particular order. These are games I will always go back to.
5. Incredible Crisis
Incredible Crisis to me was a first introduction to quirky, Japanese humor based mii game compilations. And boy was it fun. I remember getting this game based on a review I read that stated...."It's so crazy, so off the wall, and so zany that you would be insane not to try it." And for it's time...I gotta say that Incredible Crisis marked a incredible jumping point for the Wario Ware's, etc. Now I know it hasn't aged well, but that still doesn't stop me from my fond memories of the game and the impression it made.
4. Mega Man Legends
I love, absolutely love Mega Man Legends. The first 3D Mega Man may not have been perfect by any means, but it was absolutely amazing to me. I remember points in Mega Man legends where just screwing around doing nothing in town was immersive. And it was the little things like helping a sick girl in a hospital, or filling up a museums art gallery. These were small touches to a game I truly enjoyed. Not to mention the humor and those pesky Bonne's. And it's stuck with me ever since.
3. Metal Gear Solid (Game Boy Color)
Also known as Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel, this Metal Gear just so happened to be my first time playing a Metal Gear game. I watched my brother play Metal Gear Solid for the PS1 and thought it was cool. So when I found out a Game Boy Color game was coming out I was ecstatic. Now there are things that don't quite make this the best Metal Gear game of course. Cigarettes are replaced with foggers, the language and violence are toned down (Though still awesomely told) and this game features over 200 VR missions. It amazes me how much of a game they fit onto that small cartridge. And it was something I always kept going back to in order to play. In fact, I still own my copy.
2. The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
I already posted a review and retrospective about Wind Waker a bit back. So my thoughts about this game will hold true. Everyone has a favorite Zelda title and for mne this is mine. I loved everything about this game. Sailing around, going from island to island was incredibly fun. Whether it was going into an enemy submarine or battling it out with a big octo....I really loved just going and sailing the high seas. Everything about Zelda I loved from music, to story, to dungeons...everything about this game was just so engaging and engrossing to me.
1. Chrono Trigger
And finally Chrono Trigger. If I were to tell you that I own 3 copies of this game then you might say I enjoy it just a little too much. But I do. It's so good it's worth playing 15 times over. The story, the music, the battle system are all top notch and a reason why it has stuck with me for so long.
