Would you like to ride with Batman?

So I actually ended up having a pretty big weekend of gaming which was nice. I finished the main campaign in Arkham City along with the Harley Quinn DLC, got further into P4G (still a long way to go, about 35 hrs in) and jumped back into Skyrim Sunday night after months in absentia.

I figure I’ll lend you all my impressions of Arkham City for what it’s worth.

Arkham City was sitting on my shelf for a good two months unopened (which is long for me) but as soon as I started I was pretty much hooked. As everyone who has played either Arkham game can attest to, the level of polish here is really marvelous. I get the impression that Rocksteady the developer have a great love/respect for the source material and put a lot of effort into the world they created. Although some “villians” only play a bit part, each came across as being carefully rendered and held true to their history. Story wise I found the main campaign to be somewhat obvious but there was more than enough interesting set-pieces to keep my attention throughout. I really did fly though this game from start to finish. For me the best part of the Arkham games is that above everything else, they make you feel like Batman. It really is a joy to sour above the streets of Arkham City before crashing down into a gang of thugs to deal out some serious damage. The combat here is the old cliché; easy the pick-up but difficult to master. It can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it. I dipped slightly into the Riddler challenges which offer up rounds of gangs to pummel for points. The more variety you bring to the combat, the more points you get. I’m not sure how many of these I will work through (I think there’s 400+) but it’s nice that they have something else to lengthen the game experience. There is a NG+ option which offers a more challenging campaign while enabling you to carry over the abilities you unlocked first time round. I may someday dive into this but for now, my Batman urge has most definitely been sated. Also, just a quick note that the Harley Quinn DLC is amazing. <<>> You step into the boots of Robin and his combat alone offers enough to make it a worthwhile purchase in my book.<<>>

Outside of gaming, the wife and I have been binging “It’s always sunny in Philadelphia” on Netflix. We just finished season 3 last night and I’m really enjoying that show. They are all such A-holes, it cracks me up.

Anyway, that’s enough from me. Let me know what you guys think of Arkham City or what you got up to this past weekend.

Later!

I bought AC but never put it in the machine lol. Other things have kept me busy. But that's great to hear that the game turned out so well. I love New Game +, so I will have to try it out sooner rather than later.

It's definitely worth the time. It'd be great for a rainy weekend where you could really concentrate on it. I've a habit of leaving a game forever once I finish the campaign but I may come back for NG+ in this case. There are a lot of unlockable...

Arkham City is probably the game I most regret not buying a current gen system for. It looks amazing, and I love Batman.

As for Always Sunny, I've only really caught it when it comes on before or after Daily Show and Colbert, but you're right, the characters are such morons, but it's so hilarious because of it!

It helps that Danny DeVito and Charlie Day are in it, since I have fond thoughts of Matilda and Horrible Bosses, though I love Rob McElhenny and Kaitlin Olsen as well.

Yeah I'm a really big fan of Charlie Day now. The way he goes off on his high-pitched rants is hilarious

Love this game, I finished it some time ago but sometimes videogames have so much effort love and hard work pumped into them that I enjoy loading it back up just to fly around!

Yeah, it's all about the details in Arkham City. Even things like the character biographies really add to the experience for me

Arkham City was good, but I thought Asylum was the better game. I liked its smaller environments and thought City dumbed down the combat a little too much. Was still worth the day one purchase though.

I can see where you're coming and kinda agree. The further I got into AC though the more I enjoyed the more open world feel. The idea of the different gangs controlling different parts of the city for me is pretty awesome
