The fair is for food! I love when the State Fair is in Texas. Too bad I won't be able to go again until this October.

Happy Wednesday Pixlbit Nation! I have a confession, up until 10am I could have sworn it was Thursday. Call it wishful thinking, but I was excited, and then Wednesday just laughed at me. Anyways hope you all are having a good day. I spent my morning watching hockey. For today’s Random I decided that I was going to spend my lunchtime at the local fair. I’m not a fan of the rides there (or the questionable safety issues they might have), but I do like to take in the sights, check out the artwork supplied by the local schools, see what’s being sold, and of course eating. Yes my main goal for the fair is to eat foods that are either fried, shoved on a stick, or the calorie count is equal to a normal person’s weekly intake. That is what the fair is to me.
I live in a part of Southern California where the population increases because a lot of Canadians spend their winter here. Saskatchewan Roughriders seems to be the team of choice because that’s the only CFL team gear I see. Good people, but they tend to be slow drivers. Apparently I missed Canada Day.
I always make a stop in the Quonset hut that is home to the model railroad club. They have one hell of a setup that stretches the length of the hut. I would take more pictures but there was a class field trip there. I’ve always wanted a big train setup, but when I had my GI Joe train set, I ended up running over the plastic Cobra troopers. FYI I did the same with my Lego train except it was with minifigs.
After checking out the trains, I hit a couple of other fun spots to look merchant booths, and to see what folks are selling. One guy was selling rookie cards of Troy Aikman and Bo Jackson for $5, and I thought about it, but passed. Chris in his teens would have been all over it, but today’s Chris liked to look at them but was fine walking away. There is always a hot tub vendor at the fair, and I always wondered who goes to the fair and buys a hot tub? When I passed by an older couple was sure enough buying a hot tub.
After walking around for a good half hour, it was time to eat, and I had a bunch of choices, but ultimately picked the usual
I paid a visit to Pink’s travelling hot dog vendor, and this time I was sure I was going to get the Huell Howser (two hot dogs in one bun, mustard, chili, cheese, and onions) but when it was my turn to order I panicked and got my usual chili bacon cheese dog and fries.
I found a nice seat to enjoy my lunch and catch up on some podcasts while people watching.
My Instagram pic. I spent a good 30-40 minutes here, enjoying the sun, lunch, and people watching, and then it was time to head back. Of course on my way back I did make a couple of quick stops to the thrifts
I added some music, it’ll be seen in Quick Hits later on this week.
That’s all for now, more later!
-Chris
