Before I start the main topic, here's a PSA and best of luck to Venezuela due to recent events that are taking place over the country.

Now, on to the main topic:

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is my favorite Fighting game. It's probably the game I had spent more hours and it feels like a work of love from Nintendo to its franchises, from the stages, music and other elements. Of course, we can't forget one of the main elements of the game, the characters. Though I don't often use all of them as there are some I don't like (Jigglypuff for instance) or some I still don't get (Diddy Kong), the rooster is varied and even if some have mostly the same moves (like the Star Fox rooster), they still have differences to stand on their own. Without dragging too much, here's my favorite characters:

Link:

Even if I care a less about it competitive play, I was still surprised how in the tier list for Brawl he is considered one of the worst characters in the game. Too bad, because he's my favorite character from the game. I just like Link's sword combat and the strong hitting attacks, and also using the down aerial attack for easier knockouts. It's also the fact that I managed to beat some of the modes with him. I beat Taboo on story mode with him, the two times I only ever managed to beat Boss Battles, I did it with him (the other was with the Pokemon Trainer) and I think I also beat the last mission with him.

Sonic:

What can I say, i'm a Sonic fan and I was excited to play as him, though it took time to master his movements. Because he's of course the fastest character in the game, using him was like controlling an RC Car without its medication, but once I managed to know how to move him, he has been a blast to play. I like his fast attacks and the combinations you can do with the spinnings and his Final Smash is one of my favorites of the game.

Lucario:

Ever since I saw Lucario, I always thought he's one of the coolest Pokemon ever made, and this kept proving my point once he became part of the Brawl rooster. Though the coolness is mostly why I use him, Lucario is still a capable fighter with its aerial combat, and he becomes much stronger the more damage you take. The Final Smash is also among my favorites.

Samus (Power Suit Variant):

Another character that gets a lot of flack on the tier list and competitive play, but I still love either way. What can I say, I love heavy hitting attacks and I like her versatile Special attacks. Even with Zero Suit Samus who is more loved in competitive play, I found myself liking Power Suit Samus more because I find her easier to control and attack.

Fox:

Among the three Star Fox characters in the game who share many similarities between each other but slight differences, I found Fox to be my favorite. I find that I like characters who are speedy or strong hiters and since Fox is the fastest of the three Star Fox characters in terms of attacks and movement, I find him the most fun to use and I think his set of special moves to be the better ones.

SNAAAAAKEEEEE!!!!:

Like I said, I like strong hiting characters, but that's not the only reasong why I love to use him.

He's a very interesting character to use because of the combination of close combat attack and the use of gadgets and explosives on certain attacks that make him unorthodox and fun to play. It also should be noted how they managed to bring him to Smash Bros. since his franchise is not kid-friendly and the differences on EVERYTHING. Then again, Smash Bros combines many characters that you wouldn't see each other and i've seen that Metal Gear is not exacly down to earth, so it's doesn't seem so weird now. The only thing I don't like is that I still don't know how to do the goddam CODEX conversations on Shadow Mosses Island.

Kirby:

At first I didn't care much about Kirby, but he became one of my favorites due to repeating uses of him back in 2010 or 2011 where everytime I played Brawl with one of my best friends, we would use Kirby a lot for some reason. I like his aerial combat, set of special moves and even if his domain is in the air, I think he's also fine in the ground. I think he's also good for anyone when starting to play Brawl since he's easier to use and dominate.

Ike:

Strong hiter, nothing to say on that. Okay, Ike is very slow, and at first so it seems his attacks, but they hit very hard and his special moves back him up. Really don't have much to say.

Lucas:

My most recent adition to my favorites.

Like Kirby, I didn't care about him, but I got encouraged to use him more after seeing The Runaway Guys Let's Play and tournament of SMBB, where Chuggaaconroy often used him and was quite great with it. After playing with Lucas more times, I also started to really like him. He might not be strong, but his aerial combat and PK powers make him an interesting character to use.

Before I finish, here's a small list of other characters I like to use:

  • -Olimar
  • -Peach
  • -Mr Game and Watch
  • -Toon Link
  • -Marth
  • -King Dedede
  • -Wario
  • -Donkey Kong
  • -Pikachu
  • -Pokemon Trainer

Anyway, that's all for today. Share your favorite characters in the comments if you want.

Can't disagree with Kirby. Zelda is also good.

I've always liked watching my kid play Smash Bros. games because frankly I suck at fighting games.

To be fair, unless you want to get to the meat of the games, the Smash Bros. games are fairly easy to pick-up and play, since it's very much also a party game in its fighting core.

My brother is pure death with Jigglypuff. It's hilarious. When he picks him, I pretty much abandon all hope of winning lol. I wish I could play the new Smash Bros., but don't have any plans to get a Wii U. It'd be awesome to play as Little Mac.

I gotta play with him to see how lethal he is with Jigglypuff. If I end up beaten, atleast i'll know you warned meLaughing

Can't wait to play as Little Mac.

With the exeption of Sonic, Ike and Lucas, I like all of those characters from the images. I prefer Toon Link over Link but I like them both. Toon Link is my main in the game, but I like using Zelda, Samus/Zero Suit Samus, Meta Knight, Pokemon Trainer, Marth, Captain Falcon, Snake, Lucario Fox, Wolf, Wario, and Mario. I like fooling around with Wario when I use him.

My borther is a beast with Kirby and Sonic, those are his main fighters and he can destroy me when he uses them. Heck he knows how to use Sonic really well. And yes, I wish good luck to the people of Venezuela too.

Good choices there. I also started to use Wario in recent times. I like to use Meta Knight from time to time, but I don't want to overuse him because let's face it, he's overpowered and pretty much the best character in the game.

I do want to fight against your brother to see who's the better Sonic fighter.

Yes, good luck for the people of Venezuela.

1 of my faves are on your list, I like using Link, Marth, and Peach mostly. Im pretty excited that all 3 made it again to the new Super Smash Bros game but I know Marth made quite the stir  with people because they feel someone else could have been put there.

That's more of a United States opinion. Ask a Japanese, and they would say that they are glad Marth is back in Smash Bros. This is due to the fact that Fire Emblem is actually masively popular in Japan (even more than Metroid) and Marth being one of the most popular characters over Japan. So, he might be a "filler" outside Japan, but in the land of the rising sun, he's an icon.

It's like people forget that SSB is not exclusive to the US.

Once I got a hold of Snake I couldn't go back to anybody else.  I haven't played the game in a while, but he would still be my go to if I boot it up anytime soon.

Can't blame you, since Snake is awesome.
