Now we come to a huge milestone of a game. Ryu Hayabusa makes his grand return! The basic premise of the story is that Ryu is on a quest to recover a stolen sword and avenge the murder of his clan. The gameplay in NG is very deep; Ryu can use all kinds of weapons and learn some crazy ninja moves! He can also use ninpo, which is the game's magic system. NG also introduces the very sexy Rachel, who is a playable character in the game. The intense action and ridiculous difficulty make NG a memorable classic; suffice to say, it garnered tons of praise upon its release. Ryu appears in his usual blue uniform in this game; the updated version, Ninja Gaiden Black, introduced us to the awesome black-suited Ryu, which has become his mainstay appearance. Tecmo also released an updated version for the PS3 in 2007 called Ninja Gaiden Sigma. But the original Ninja Gaiden for Xbox is probably the greatest 3D ninja game ever made, and the best comeback of any video game protagonist.

I love this game SOOO much. Just bought it for Vita. I've bought every edition that's available. I play it over and over.

I played Sigma on PS3. I never did beat it because of how it starts you off at the level before if you die at the last boss. Man, that crap pissed me off. It was like 6-2 from the original Ninja Gaiden all over again. Other than that I thought it was great.

Yeah, I think the last boss of the game is like, 5 boss fights in a row. Hardcore for sure, which keeps in line with the old NG games.

I think I saw a bit of a Let's Play of the PS3 version of this, looked like fun.

I couldn't get into this game. I thought it was too hard for the wrong reasons. I had easier times with the old Ninja Gaiden games. I was told once that I should upgrade the character. I didn't realize I could upgrade the character. I guess I missed that. I hadn't played the game since and if I ever do again, I'm upgrading Ryu.

Hm. Well the game is crazy hard. Not sure how to upgrade Ryu (whatever that means), but an upgrade of your ninja skills is always useful.

My feelings for NG on Xbox are similar to Demon's Souls. Love it, but it beats me senseless every time I play it.
