I actually really liked the first Sonic Adventure game. I would've liked the sequel if it weren't for the awful camera angles near the end. Sonic Generations was pretty decent, too. Never played any of the others.

Rolling around at the speed of Sound...
Last time I talked about my favorite 2D Sonic games, this time it'll be about my favorite 3D Sonic games. 3D Sonic games are probably what changed the series forever. It was an era were 2D characters had to make a transition into 3D, Mario made the transition very well and was the game that defined 3D platforming showing everyone how it's done. Not everyone made the transition well. But then there's Sonic, I think he made the transition well. But not every Sonic game from there wasn't as good as earlier 3D Sonic games and one game tarnished the reputation of the series. There have been some good Sonic games since 2006 but the damage is done, but that doesn't mean the games are as bad as that one that wont be named. Also, the link box isn't working foe me again, so sorry for the lack of links.
And with that, here are my favorite 3D Sonic games:
Sonic Adventure DX: Not really the first 3D Sonic game but I consider this the first true 3D Sonic game. This game might seem dated now but like Super Mario 64, this game was like a revelation to the Sonic series and the Sega crowd. The game offered 6 different characters with different playstyles, but the Sonic and Tails missions were probably the best. It also had a pretty good soundtrack for the stages. My favorite stages were probably Speed Highway because I like city levels, Emerald Coast, Windy Valley, and the Casino level. It's a bit dated but still playable.
Sonic Generations: Generations was Sonic's 20th anniversary game and I thought it was pretty good, but it felt too short in my opinion. I mean yeah, you have the return of Classic Sonic, you still have Modern Sonic and the entire cast, and you play as both Sonics in the levels, but if they were to appear in those games. Like Classic Sonic you can use on the classic Green Hill Zone, but if you use Modern Sonic you play in that zone if the same way you'd play a 3D Sonic game. The levels look nice, and the soundtrack is really good but felt it could of been so much more. I mean Modern Sonic get's more love than Classic Sonic when it comes to stages. And the 3DS one isn't even better. The only reason this one is here because it was better than Mario's anniversary.
Sonic Lost World: This is Sonic's latest game and I haven't beaten it yet, but I've played enough for it to be on this list. Sonic is a bit slower in this game, but he has to be because of the new gameplay mechanics the game has. This game is a bit more platform heavy, therefore Sonic can grab and climb stuff now. The game feels like a Mario Galaxy game by the way it looks and plays, and the game runs at a buttery smooth 60 fps in 1080p, imagine that? The game got a few negative reviews because of how the game controls and because Sonic is slow, but the controls aren't bad and the game wouldn't be playable if Sonic ran at full speed. It's platformer heavy, vibrant, colorful, and different, so it's worth a go.
Sonic Unleashed: Alot of people like to hate on this game for one reason only: the werehog. I never really had a problem with that, sure I wasn't a fan but never hated on that. It brought some new twists in an attempt to make the game more platform heavy. But the game succeeds in the classic 3D Sonic gameplay, it even has 2D gameplay. I love the stages that are based on real world locations and love how fast Sonic goes, and for the first time you can see how fast Sonic really goes with a meter you see when you get a check point. You can even upgrade normal and werehog Sonic's abilities, like running more faster or different moves. It even has hubworlds on each location like Adventure had. It's a great Sonic game if you take out the werehog of the equation.
Sonic Colors: This would clearly be my favorite 3D Sonic game if it wasn't for my number 1 choice. Sonic Colors is what is perhaps Sonic's comeback into relevancy. Made by the guys who made Mad World on the Wii, (I'm not kidding, look it up) comes Sonic Colors. Majority of the game takes place in space (heh that rhymed) like Mario Galaxy 1&2 because ol Baldy McNosehair (Dr. Eggman) makes a themepark in space in an attempt to appologize for all his evil schemes or whatever. Sonic knows that something is up (saw what I did) and he and Tails embark on a new adventure of cosmic proportions. I love the game, it blends 2D and 3D into the mix while adding new gameplay ideas in the form of the Wisps. Which are basically aliens that give Sonic a new power like the power-ups in Mario. It's really cheap and sold really well, really worth checking out.
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle: A no-brainer and probably every Sonic fan's favorite 3D Sonic game. This is my favorite 3D Sonc game. It's a huge improvement over Sonic Adventure. The game follows a more linear story. instead of playing six different characters for a story like in Adventure, you have a hero mode and a villain story where you play as 3 characters, like Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. You play as them one at a time like, first you go as Sonic in a stage, the Knuckles, then Tails, and you get the idea. It's also the introduction of 2 new playable characters, Rouge the Bat, and my favorite Sonic character, Shadow the Hedgehog. Each of them is basically a clone of Sonic and Knuckles because they play similar but with their own set of moves. And if you want to take a break from Adventuring, there's the Chao Garden that comes back from Adventure, or some neat multiplayer modes like kart racing and going through stages like in the main mode. This game has plenty of modes to keep you playing for a while. I'll admit that the Knuckles/Rouge and Tails/Eggman stages aren't good but the Sonic and Shadow ones are the best. It also has a pretty good soundtrack. It looks dated compared to every non-Dreamcast Sonic game on this list but it's still fun and playable.
So, what are your favorite 3D Sonic games? Thanks for reading and later.
