Happy Tuesday peppy Pixlbits!

Quick blog today as it’s shaping up to be a busy day in the office Yell

So I watched the season finale of Downton Abbey last night. Not sure if there are many fans in the house but this was a very satisfying episode. Some nice story arc wrap-ups and some nice feelers for next season. After last season’s terrible ending, I wasn’t expecting much but it turned out well.

Gaming wise, I downloaded Street Fighter X Tekken last night from PS+ for the Vita. The graphics look gorgeous on the small screen but after only one fight, I can already tell it won’t hold my attention for long. I’ve mentioned this before but for whatever reason, I have no real interest in 2D fighters. Something about the combo system and basic fighting engine doesn’t work for me. I’ve tried recent entries in the Street Fighter & BlazBlue series’ and neither stuck. I did enjoy the Mortal Kombat trilogy on the PSX but I wonder if the overall atmosphere of the game (along with my age at the time) pulled me through. The funny thing is that I absolutely adore 3D fighters. I’ve put countless hours into both the Tekken and Dead or Alive series’ with Tekken 3 being my standout. As I listed in my most anticipated a few weeks back, I’m really excited for Tekken X Street Fighter as I understand it will use the Tekken fighting engine. Inputting combos and navigating the environment is much easier understood by me in 3D fighters and I’m beginning to feel as though I’m a one trick pony when it comes to fighting games. The only annoying thing is that it seems 2D fighters are appreciated more in general and hence see far more entries.

Great choice of characters!

Regarding PS+, I sometimes wonder if I’m getting my money’s worth from the service but then I turn on my Vita and realize I’ve only bought like four games for the handheld and put in a ton of time. I generally don’t count PS+ games however in my mental backlog as it would quickly get overwhelming. I’ve actually had to ignore a bunch of games added to their “instant game collection” as I simply had too much to play. On the PS3, the last game I downloaded was Kingdom of Amalar: Reckoning; put about 5 hours into it and am not sure I’ll ever return. I liked it but as I didn’t make the monetary investment, I push it to the back of the queue. I do think, however, that I’m done buying PS3 games in anticipation of buying a PS4 later this year so I may jump on some plus titles when I finish up what I have. My backlog on the PS3 is starting to look somewhat manageable which is nice.

That’s all for me today folks. Nice and sweet as always haha

Only 3 days to go. Let’s fuck this shit up!

Later

I've been curious about Downton Abbey ever since I heard that Broadchurch was the most popular show in Britain since that show.

I know they are totally different shows though. I had to watch Broadchurch because of David Tennant and I loved it.

Anyway that's all I know about Downton Abbey. I have yet to see an episode.

I like it. Lots of backstabbing and whatnot at the start of the 20th century. It's interesting.

There is a ton of games to play on PS+. I hope you're hitting download and once it starts, hit cancel so it can be in your history just in case Sony removes them.

I need to get a bigger memory stick so I can have some of these Vita games without having to constantly move things around.

I have a bunch downloaded but am thinking i'll have to delete something once FFX arrives next month. Most likely Soul Sacrifice will get the shaft. Game just didn't click for me.

Oh you and me both. I think if I had maybe one or two on my PS3 I would play them because there wouldn't be that overload of having too many options.

I prefer 2D fighters because I grew up with Street Fighter II: Turbo, and to me they are easier to manage, but I do love Tekken as well, which is one of the first 3D games I ever noticed and I like 3D fighters, they just give me a hard time sometimes.

Let's fight!

Bring it on!

Other than some Mortal Kombat when I was really young, my early gaming memories included a lot of the original Tekken

I like fighting games even though I don't think I'm very good at most of the one I've played.

I'm the exact same. I'm also not the best of losers so I tend to quit a play session if I lose more than a few matches in a row. I at least don't send angry private messages to my opponents on PSN.... Some people really need to get a grip on reality

Tekken and SoulCalibur are great franchises. I also want to get more into DOA despite its' mixed reputation. DOA 5 Ultimate looks pretty sweet!

I much rather Tekken and DOA than SC. I get why people like SC but I prefer the blocking controls in the others. I've been a fan of DOA since the original. Of course people are gonna to jump on the fan service and tittylation, but behind all that is a solid fighting game IMO. The counter system especially is great.

That's odd, that's how I feel about certain 3D fighting games. I do love me some 2D fighting games though, I just recently socred both The Last Blade titles on the VC given how I've yet to find them on any other system currently.

Aside from Soul Caliber, not much else interest me. Even those 2D games that have 3D backgrounds seem to kill my mood at times.

I've tried but for some reason 2D fighters just don't grab me. The gameplay just doesn't flow the way I like.
