Not A BaD Trick, Sissel

I finished Ghost Trick last night and it has become my favorite video game story ever. I don't know about favorite gameplay, which is unique and rewarding as well, but definitely my favorite plot and cast of characters in anything I've played.

It lays down that intrigue, maaaan

I won't spoil the ending, but it reminded me of a certain pet I lost last year, and had more of an impact on me than usual for that reason. Not to mention, it was just a great, hilarious ride of cartoony Japanese humor, interesting point-and-click puzzle solving, and a great mystery that you could solve with the clues you were given before everything was revealed, but wasn't obvious, at least not to me.

Ooooh, "lamp shade," I get it now

Even as "out there" as things got, the rules of the universe were well-defined enough that I never called "bullshit!" on anything. It would be kind of hard to considering the premise of you as a ghost solving the mystery of who you are.

Also, what in God's name these two are going to do to you while your butt's in the air

Beyond just being well-executed, the game had a lot of heart to it as well. I didn't but I wouldn't blame someone for tearing up a bit at the end. The twists and turns taken in the plot made me switch my views on several characters a couple times, but in the end, I couldn't be happier with the ending.

Heck, this game gets my award for "Best Credits Sequence I've Seen In A Video Game."

It was so good, it made me do a chicken dance, passed down in my family for zero generations!

Having said all this, the game does have a few minor flaws, like certain text scrolls being too long and reappearing when you mess up. Traveling back in time due to a simple mistake can be a pain in the ass, and some tasks have too-short time limits for my taste, particularly near the end. Also, the game is part stylus-centric puzzle-solving and part graphic novel in game form, so it may not be for everyone.

What DO You Think? I'm At A Loss Here ...

Still, I've never really played or liked games in this vein, but giving it a chance provided me one of the most rewarding experiences I've ever had playing a game. Were I a reviewer, I'd give it a perfect score, cause there is very little I feel could have been done better for what it is and tries to do.

I highly recommend it!

This game looks good, I'll keep an eye out for it when my cash reserves aren't depleted.

I need to save up for a while, myself.

I'll have to keep an eye out for it this summer when I once again have disposable income.

I think you'd really enjoy it. Cary seemed to and I think Greenman did too, he just thought the ending got a bit too zany (which I can understand, but I thought it was fine).

Yay!  I'm glad you beat it!  I love the ending.

Have you tried any of the Phoenix Wright games?

I actually bought Miles Edgeworth recently, but only played the very first part. I think I might put Dawn of Sorrow in my DS before that one.

I definitely concur about the great story. And the animation is so smooth it's crazy! Have you played any of the Phoenix Wright games? All those stories are written by the same guy and they're really good. I'd definitely recommend those first three games in particular.

I bought the fifth installment recently, that count?

Yeah, that's one's good, though ironically it's the one game in the series I never did finish lol

Another game to keep an eye on then.

And I'll keep my eyes peeled for Dragonara. Which I know I'm misspelling quite badly, but I'll remember the name if I see it.

Danganronpa. Now you'll remember.

Actually just looked it up on Youtube. Might remember Trigger Happy Havoc more easily.

What did you play this on Joe? 3DS?

DS, don't own any newer systems from past Gamecube, unless you count my laptop.

This looks interesting but I really need to take down some of my DS library first before adding this, but I probably won't stick to that if I run into it in the wild at a good price. Glad you finished it!

Yeah, I didn't want to pay the $15 used I did at Gamestop, but it was so hyped up for me, I went ahead. Glad I just inadvertently cost you more money, possibly. lol

The art style makes me think of Exit. I like it.

What is Exit? Is that on Steam?

Exit is an action/puzzle game. You have to move through levels to save people from a fire. Some levels have a time limit. It's on XBLA, DS and PSP. There was a sequel Exit 2 which is on XBLA and PSP. It would be perfect for iPad. I don't know why Taito hasn't done that yet.

I might have to give this some thought in the coming months. Sounds liek something not of the norm, and that's something I could use right now in my gaming collection.

It's a bit out of the norm for me, but I dug it. It's done by some of the same people behind the Ace Attorney games, and I hear it's similar.
