The original Legend of Kage for the NES (which is an arcade port) is pretty mediocre, but this sequel for the DS is awesome! In this intense action platformer, you can play as either Kage or Chihiro, both of which have their own stories and movesets. Along with ninjitsu techniques, ninpo spells can be mastered to do massive damage. The characters move really fast, jump super high, and attack in a blink of an eye. This is a pretty tough game; hordes of enemies will come at you as you run and climb through the levels. The game uses both screens of the DS, so if your character jumps really high, he/she will appear on the top screen, then fall back down to the bottome. The music is sooooo awesome, and the boss fights are great. Be prepared for a challenge; the game starts to get tough right after level one. Truly, only a ninja master could beat this one.

I haven't played the original Legend of Kage, but was unfortunate enough to play Demon Sword which was pretty similar. This game looks cool, but I have trouble looking at two screens simultaneously. That's why I didn't care for Contra 4 that much despite how blasphemous that may sound.

Blasphemous! Well, it takes some getting used to, but the game is great if you can overcome that hurdle. If not, don't worry, there's plenty of other great ninja games to enjoy.

What's funny is there is another Legend of Kage sequel on the NES called Demon Sword.

Taito made some awesome DS games.  My favorite was Arkanoid DS.  I liked the music in that so much, I imported the soundtrack!  Taito's in-house band, Zuntata, is awesome.  I wonder if they also did the music for Kage 2?

Yeah, I remember you talking about Zuntata when I covered The Ninja Warriors. They're probably not still together today I imagine, but perhaps they did the music for Kage 2. Either way, the music is awesome.

Well,Taito is still around, so I'm pretty sure Zuntata is, too.  I know they made a lot of the music for Taito's popular moble rhythm game Groove Coaster.

Definitely an awesome game! I don't know why Taito decided to make a sequel to such an old game but I'm glad they did. This is what being a Ninja is supposed to be like Smile
