What is Forgetter?  Well – it’s the story of a ghost who can’t remember its previous life.  In order to redeem himself/herself, the ghost must follow a quest in a strange world.

Along the way, the Forgetter will meet strange creatures, battle fierce enemies, and slowly unlock the truth about who he/she is.

The quest itself is pretty nonlinear.  Starting in a central hub/chamber inhabited by helpful house flies, Forgetter can choose four worlds to go to: East, West, North, and South.  Each world has three levels, and the player must figure out how to progress through them.

WEST:

If Forgetter heads West, he/she will come to Hippo Town, a quaint village inhabited by friendly but sad hippos trying to go about their lives.  Here, Forgetter might find more about who he/she is, as well as information about this strange afterlife.  After Hippo Town, the other two areas in the WEST are “The City” and “The Castle”.

EAST:

If Forgetter heads East, he will come across a caravan of refugees heading West as they flee an evil Wizard of the East.  Forgetter can converse and trade with the refugees, and maybe even find out more about his/her predicament.  From here, Forgetter can head further east into a perilous swamp and the evil wizard’s tower.

NORTH:

Going North leads to snowy fields and a meeting with a peculiar monkey trader, who might have strange items for Forgetter to trade for.  The monkey might also have important information for the Forgetter.  From here, one can head further North into the icy blue forest, and up into the Mountain.

SOUTH:

If he/she heads South, Forgetter finds a vast desert canyon.  From here, there is a strange cave to explore, and the rumored “Goat Village” from which no travelers ever return.

And that’s the basic thrust of the game.  The environments won’t be that big, and their boundaries will be blue curtains that fence off the environment from the astral wastes of the afterlife.  In each environment there will be NPC’s, battles, and puzzles.

It’s a somewhat big game, a couple hours of play, but it’s the smallest I can do because my mind only works on “epic” scale.

Anyway, I’ve been working on designing the initial chamber/hub of the game, where the player starts.  It looks pretty good so far!

I hope all of you are doing well.

Sorry, there're no pandas in the afterlife, actually.  Tongue Out

Just kidding.  I'll see if I can put in a panda character just for you.  Smile

I'm very interested by your ideas of the zones. They all look very interesting and worth to explore.

I'm agnostic and forget shit all the time, is this game going to teach me what my afterlife will be like?

Hope you get the agnostic theme right. I'm told that's very hard to do. the cartoon series Aeon Flux is a great example of this.
