Yeah, I don't have the courage to play fighting games online. I did for a Soul Caliber a couple years ago, but I got smashed into humiliated fragments.

It’s hump day folks which means we’re half way to happiness and half way through the final week of BaD! So let’s keep this baby rolling.
I had mentioned in an earlier blog how I was thinking of starting again in XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Last night was the night. Hurray! I can feel a newfound momentum rising up inside of me and overflowing from of my every pore in a concentrated effort to beat down every mother fucking alien that has the sheer audacity to enter the very spectrum of my existence. What I trying to say here is I’m pumped up. The one major change this time around for Shane’s squaddies is I’ve gone ahead and named my troops. This difference this makes for me emotionally is surprisingly huge. No longer will I charge my support soldier head first into an occupied area without thinking. No longer will I mix-up my assault and heavy soldiers and end up with blood on my hands. By simply naming my troops as my friends, it’s easier to remember who is who and what capabilities/specialties each unit has. One slight annoyance I have with the soldier customization options is that you can only change appearance and name. No changing of gender or nationality. It’s not a huge deal but it means my wife is now Dutch (hot!) and my friends are Spanish, Swedish and Japanese (nothing against any of these countries obviously). Again, it’s not a big deal, just a minor annoyance. I’m gonna ride this momentum as long as it’ll last so hopefully I’ll actually make a dent in the game this time around.
Be afraid, be very afraid...
I also played a little more of Street Fighter X Tekken on the Vita. It’s come to my conclusion that most people who play this game have NO IDEA what they’re doing (myself included). Here I am playing away in arcade mode; I’ve won the first round and am on to the second when all of a sudden “NEW CHALLENGER” (said in typical boxing announcer speak). This is my notice that I’ve been matched with someone to fight online. You can turn this off but I like having this option in fighting games. So I’m whisked away from the arcade mode and into an online match. Know that at this stage, this online fight will be my third STxT fight ever so I’m not expecting much; and I WIN! Huh! How can a man who does not yet know what the hell he is doing in even bloody training mode win his first online contest. I barely know the god damn buttons for crying out loud. Maybe this was also my opponents first ever online contest; maybe my opponent had started drinking early this Tuesday; maybe my opponent was five; I don’t have an answer here folks but I really hope they weren’t serious about this game because they lost to a chump. Oh well. I’ll probably play a few more hours of this before I hit the wall but it seems like a well-made version to me. Controls seem tight and there didn’t appear to be any lag in online play. If you have PS+, a vita and like 2D fighters, you should probably check it out.
Oh goodie!
That’s all I have today my friends and fellow mutants. Keep the flag flying high.
