Two Games Off Mount Backlog, And What I'm Playing

Have you noticed there is a lot of 3’s in today’s date? 03-03-13…a lot of threes. Hello Pixlbit, it is a warm Monday here in Southern California, and while I am enjoying lunch, I thought I’d update you good people of what I have been up to. I knocked a couple of games off Mount Backlog over the weekend which is always good, and I made some progress in others, and started to play some new ones. Sound good? Well let’s get started!

I saw this on Reddit, and 5th Grade Chris…and Chris of today think this is freaking awesome, and I should have made something like this.

Two Games Off Mount Backlog

I did a speed run on the 360 for this game and finished the main storyline. I finished the first movie on Friday, the second movie Saturday Morning, and the third movie in the late afternoon. I have to admit that during this play through was much more enjoyable for me than my first play through on the PS3. I did have fun and the original might replace Indiana Jones 2 as my favorite Indy game. My one WTF moment came during a scene where I had to build an item to let me advance and the prompt to add the last piece never activated so I had to replay a level which was kind of a hassle but wasn’t a deal breaker for me.

Overall I am happy I got a second look at this game.

On Friday Night I decided to finish up Lego Speedorz because I wanted to remove it from my tablet. The game actually took little more than an hour to play through and win all the races. There isn’t much to it other than collecting Lego studs, buying the fastest racer and proceeding to blow out everyone.

After each group of races you earn a trophy, and a ton of Lego Studs along with the character customization options you unlock in each race.

After the first group of races you have enough for one of the fastest racers so for the younger folks this is a good racing game.

I gave this PS+ freebie a try and after spending maybe an hour an a half with it, playing though the arcade mode and half of the tutorial I am going to mark it as Beaten because I’m never going to play it again. It’s not a bad game, it’s just not my thing. Maybe it is a good thing I played this before spending the $15 for the downloadable version of Injustice because I just don’t like these types of fighting games on the Vita. I guess my Mortal Kombat preference kicks in.

What I Am Playing

I played more of this game finishing most of the second season and skipping the Gymkhana stuff. I’m sorry but that stuff is pointless, and seems like it is an X-Games forced event that I have no patience for. Sorry Rally fans, I like the timed events and racing.

Speaking of racing

I started this game and it isn’t as bad as I heard. The touch controls do need some work, but the actual racing isn’t bad. I played through two of the four tours, and currently working on the third tour. This one seems to jump in difficulty but it isn’t bad. I think I only had to replay one race because of a terrible finish.

In MLB The Show news I started a new player in Road to the Show with my actual height and I was on a hitting tear in Double A ball, and was promoted to Triple A ball in the Mets Organization. My player isn’t a regular starter but he does get to pinch hit in games when not playing. My character doesn’t start maybe one or two games a week which isn’t bad, and hitting is a lot better with this character but there isn’t a lot of home runs.

I finally made enough space on my main memory stick to have this on my Vita

I don’t have the motion sickness with this game but I do start to get a little headache if I play it for extended periods so I’m back to one mission at a time. I’m enjoying this game even if I tend to die a little too often for my tastes, but since I’m utilizing taking cover a lot more, I’m having better luck (hello common sense)

Because of this I might give Borderlands a chance on the Vita.

In Android gaming

I’ve been off and on with this game especially after I unlocked all the Valentine’s Day stuff in the first week. I’m currently waiting for Whacking Day events but other than that, every other day I go in check out my town, hand out random jobs, collect cash and shut the game off.

Real Racing 3 had a special vehicle to celebrate its one-year anniversary

There is a special Prosche and group of races that are free. I’m maybe 25% finished with this game. I think I would have been around 50% if the races weren’t so repetitive. It’s still a good game for being on a tablet, but either shorten up how many races there are in each group or add more variety to the racing environments.

I play a lot of Treasures of Montezuma Blitz on the Vita, so when I saw this game appear in the Google Play Store it moved up to must play

This game has a different layout than the Vita game and has a kind of story mode vibe with unlocking the different gem gods

The layout and lives structure is similar to Candy Crush but you can advance without having to buy in-app purchases. You have a slot machine every four hours or so where you can win extra gems (by extra I mean around 200 gems which isn’t bad), to unlocking extra bonuses.

So far I’ve unlocked the red and green gem gods, and as soon as I can get some of my favorite bonuses that I’ve found in the Vita version in this game, I’ll be fine. If you like match three games, this one isn’t bad.

I’m on the fence about downloading this game because of the negative reviews about how it’s full of in-app purchases and how it hurts advancement in the game. I don’t know if I want to risk spending time on a game like this where there are other games I could be playing and enjoying.

Before I end this blog, I got tired of Miley’s Wreckingball in the Sonic Universe so I went back to this one

Well alright alright alright

I have a bunch of your blogs I need to read and I will get to them over the next couple of days. There are still a bunch from the end of BaD. I didn’t forget to comment on them, I just got a little busy to start March.

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

LOL I think you were subconsciously just trying to fuck with me because of my superstition about that number 3.

That NES Cabinet is awesome! 23-year old Joey approves!

I tend to prefer Tekken and Street Fighter to Mortal Kombat by a wide margin, but I think if I played more of the newest MK, that might change.

Mmmm .... Lawrence.

Haha I was getting back at you for the honor of In-N-Out Burger.

I went through a phase when I really liked Tekken, but I went back to MK.

Yup J Lawrence is the wallpaper...and I only dropped my phone once since making the change.

How does White Castle taste, by the way? I've never had it. Guess I'll find out when in L.A.

I guess I played the wrong MK games recently, cause a lot of the ones after SNES and before now are shit. Like bordering on Rise of the Robots type gameplay.

I'm glad putting J'Law on it has helped you "look after" and "hold onto" your "phone." LOL

Sorry for double post, school only has IE and it won't let me edit my comment for some reason only the shit pile that is this older version of IE knows.

I think White Castle is just a midwestern thing. I've had their frozen line and it's just sliders with onions.

It's all good with the double post, no harm, it's all good. I didn't care for the MK games after MK3, I didn't care for the controls and all the extra crap. Just give me the cheesy storyline, combos I remember, and characters I like and I'm good to go.

I've had their frozen stuff, too, but I suspect that's different from the "real" thing.

I think we agree on Mortal Kombat, although I did play way more SFII: Turbo on a friend's roommate's SNES in undergrad. PLaying SF was a  fun and competitive time, whereas I don't think we ever played MK seriously, we just looked up and tried fatalities online.

Oh there was a lot of looking up fatalities for the original...my brother and I had an issue of EGM or something like it that had all the moves, and the abacabb code where you get all the extra options on the Genesis.

I forgot to mention Rise of the Robots. I remember I bought that for my first PC and it had sticker on the box saying it was MK with Robots. I should have realized it was in the bargain bin for a reason.

I actually really liked it as a kid, and so did my brother, who is six years older. We thought it was broken when we found it at a bargain bin, so apparently being young blinds you to the fact of only having two moves being terrible. lol

Don't have much of a preference when it comes to fighting games, though to be honest I haven't played a Mortal Kombat game in ages.

I don't think you're missing much with the MK games, execpt the newest version I enjoyed. The story is still cheesy, but that goes along with the MK games.

They're solid games, and can be played through in a weekend.

That cabinet is pretty awesome. I'd like one for every system I have and make an arcade of consoles.

That would be a cool video game room.
