Linked to Article Series: Misadventures of Link

Just saw this on my Facebook feed.

If ever there were a reason for me to link to the series The Misadventures of Link on here ...

Bonus fact: the opponent's weapon? A flower pot. Laughing

Hahahaha I wonder what the gf's name is. Only way this gets better is if money was in that flower pot. LMAO

who the hell has a master sword?

Lol, I think there are probably a few people like this guy who go to cons and have at least toy replicas.

I don't need no stinkin gun for home protection, I got the motherfuckin Master Sword! Laughing

If some one is comig at me with a sword and the best thing I can find to defend my self is a flowerpot, I am going to run. No shame at all. lol.

03/04/2014 at 02:08 PM

Yeah, it would be either that, or I'd have an Indiana Jones "fuck this I have a gun" moment. Hopefully, my decision wouldn't be influenced by dysentery, like it was in that case. lol

Yes! Misadventures of Link was great. Need to badger Matt R about bringing that back.

Super Step Contributing Writer

03/04/2014 at 02:07 PM

What was it exactly? I've just been linking to that with my Zelda-related blogs recently. I'll check it out later. I'm still wanting to go through all of Tour de 64. Speaking of which, for long-lasting features like that, MIA, etc., it'd be cool to have dedicated pages for them with an archive of entries in those series, I think. There's tons of great content on here from before I joined.

Nick DiMola Director

03/04/2014 at 02:09 PM

Technically, there is. If you go to Features, you can filter the articles based on their type and see the whole archive. Similar filtering abilities are available across all of the sections.

Misadventures of Link was a comic series that Matt R drew and captioned. If you click the article series at the top of this blog and then the name of the series on that page, you can see them all!

Gotcha, I will do that, thanks!

Sweet, I'll check those out! I want to make a comic series myself sometime. This place just keeps getting better and it didn't even change this time. lol

Haha, glad to hear it! Yeah, lots of stuff tucked away in the archives. It's tough to do a good job of showing this stuff off, but let's just say I'm currently working on something to amend that...

Video games cause violence! Confirmed. NOT!

Super Step Contributing Writer

03/04/2014 at 02:41 PM

Lol. There are enough studies that prove a strong correlation or short-term effects for me to accept that violent media can have an effect on the brain and encourage an increase in violent behavior for a short period of time, but as far as this having anything to do with it or GTA being responsible for murderers ... yeah, no, I'm with you there.

You can't scientifically prove causation, at least not with any method I know of, between media and certain behaviors, only strong correlations from which you can infer it. Most of the strong links have been shown in experimental research, which is problematic, since that research takes place in a lab and not a fully real-life setting by definition. I think if you were to do a longitudinal study study that asked if people who grew up in my gen watching Power Rangers vs. people who grew up watching Leave it to Beaver, you'd see that those in my gen did have more aggressive thoughts and actions overall, but not having conducted or read a study like that, I can't say for sure.

Sorry to get all scientific, but media research like what you kind of alluded to is the focus of my Master's degree.

Halochief90

Not a problem. That was quite enjoyable to read. And I would agree that video games can cause short-term effects with violence. Heck, I remember punching my brother after playing a multiplayer game!

Super Step Contributing Writer

03/05/2014 at 01:33 AM

And that's another thing that makes this stuff hard to study. Was it the game doing that, or just the fact your brother was pissing you off? Obviously, some combination of both, but which is more to blame overall?

Halochief90

03/05/2014 at 03:23 PM

Yeah, it would be a combination of both. Actually, I couldn't throw the blame on games at all, because losing a match and punching my brother really came down to poor sportsmanship.

I love that this site has a comic series. I hope Nick can convince Matt to do it again.

Wow, that's crazy. At least the woman they were fighting over wasn't harmed.

Seems like the guy giving the interview got a minor scrape compared to the asshole ex, so justice was served in my view.

I'm surprised the media hasn't tried to connect this to Grand Theft Auto.

I remember seeing this last night on the news and my first thought was "I thought those swords were toys".

Super Step Contributing Writer

03/04/2014 at 07:53 PM

Come to think of it, Zelda is already kind of open world in a way, they just need to add medieval bars in the dungeons and let you fuck the fountain fairies to regain your health and they're two steps ahead to making Ye Grande Larceny Epona.

I think most swords of this kind are toys, but the guy said he cosplays and whatnot, so he may be a big enough fan to commission the real thing for himself.

No woman these days are worth a sword in the gut, i'm sorry. But think about it.Frown

Given what you just wrote, I think a He-Man sword would suit you. You could yell about Grayskull while you used it and then say, "get back, ye She-Hulk!"

I'll be in hell with Nicoleb, laughed my ass off all the way through. The girlfriend was the one who called and then let the guy in, she should shoulder the blame for the whole incident, in my opinion.

V4Viewtiful

03/04/2014 at 07:21 PM

She won't, women who start fights between to dudes never do.

One will go to Jail, one will go to Hell (pronounce that as Hail, to make it ryhmeWink)

Super Step Contributing Writer

03/04/2014 at 07:59 PM

Why isn't Eminem here to make that rhyme? He hates women and had that whole interview about rhyming orange by slanting the rhyme ("Nothing rhymes with organge? That phrase pisses me off! Here are slant rhymes to prove my point!" I like Eminem, but that was not a good look lol), he'd be perfect for this.

V4Viewtiful

03/04/2014 at 08:17 PM

Doorhinge rhymes with Orange, HA!Tongue Out

Super Step Contributing Writer

03/04/2014 at 11:28 PM

If you speak it pronouncing the "h," it doesn't. That phrase and word are actually still considered slant rhyming, because you have to take the "h" sound out of hinge to make it work. Tongue Out

V4Viewtiful

03/05/2014 at 07:41 AM

Oh yes it does Joe, I'll argue thiis to the Death!

With the same amount of silibles "ange" in Orange is pronounced in such a way that it's slured to sound like "inge".

Hinge.

Door-hinge.

Or-range, said like ringe

So there!Cool

Super Step Contributing Writer

03/05/2014 at 09:59 PM

Hmmm ... I still think it's a half rhyme. Tongue Out

I was too busy paying attention to anything I could find to correlate with the Zelda universe to care about the severity or any relevant details of the case beyond that context. If this winds up being a lawsuit, I feel bad for the lawyer who has to keep a straight face ... and likely won't, cause he'll probably be a cheap one and therefore a drunk one who flubs the case. Yay U.S. justice.

The one reason I'm glad to be single....not as much drama and swords involved. lol. Tongue Out

Super Step Contributing Writer

03/04/2014 at 11:30 PM

In my case, there's a sword involved, but there's no chance of getting stabbed in the eye, it's too far away on my body, although sometimes liquid projectiles might fly dangerously.
