Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Anyone here into the Ninja Turtles? I was when I was a kid. In fact, I was borderline obsessed. As I've grown up I haven't really paid that much attention to the Turtles. I saw that CG movie, caught a few episodes of the TV series that ran around 2003 or so and picked up a few of the original comics in the last decade. I still have a soft spot for them, no matter what.

Anyway, recently I've actually been watching the new kids show that's on Nickleodeon. I've been getting a kick out of it. It's fun to watch it on Saturdays, like I'm a kid again or something. Anyway, it's silly but a guilty pleasure.

I just found out there's a new Turtles video game coming out for XBLA and PSN.

Video teaser for TMNT: Out of the Shadows from IGN

It has a dark, almost mature tone going on. The combat looks kind of similar to the games I played as a kid, but with a nice twist. I have to say, I'm interested to see more on this game!

I think it's kind of weird they've gone for their own art style completely, though. You'd think they'd try to piggyback this off of the new TV series, which I think is doing really well. Still though, if it is more mature then maybe they aren't trying to target kids with this one, but instead old fans, like myself, that enjoy the original, gritty source material.

Or maybe this is the art style intended for the new - and universally dreaded - Michael Bay produced film coming out in the next few years.

Who knows, just thought I'd make a post about it!

Peace,
Surf

Power Rangers was my Ninja Turtles as a kid, though I did enjoy the original cartoons (that pizza always looked delicious, we'd rent the VHSes, and my older brother had a lot of toys for it).

That game actually looks really impressive, and I wasn't aware of it until now.

Yeah, I found myself on IGN, which never happens these days, and I saw an article with the teaser. I think it looks pretty cool. I'm definitely going to keep an eye on it.

I actually do like IGN for entertainment news (especially since they have other things besides games), but yeah, I'm rarely on there either; more like facebook than a blog site, community-wise. At least now we know about the game, though.

I remember playing tmnt 3 for the nes when i was younger.  I also loved Turtles in Time.  So, any new tmnt game i will keep an eye on.

Turtles in Time was my first SNES game, except for Super Mario World, of course. I played through the entire game in one sitting on Christmas Day. I love that game.

This looks like it might have some of the moves from those old TMNT beat 'em ups, but with a new 3D compliment.

Ya know I think it would be interesting to play a JRPG TMNT game. The could include April O'Neill, Casey Jones, etc. as additional characters for your party selection. Would be awesome I think but will never happen....

That'd be great! You're right, though, probably won't happen. Keep hope alive!

Yeah, it's too bad about the movie, but games like this can be a sort of "saving grace", haha.

Turtles in Time was a fantastic beat em up on SNES. DId you play the recent remake of it? It was horrible. They dumbed it down so much. Combat was extremely motonous. This game looks way better. Thanks for sharing this!

I had bought a bunch of the old TMNT cartoons from the 80s on dvd a while back. Talk about some corny stuff lol. We watched that show religiously as kids. The comics are awesome.

I didn't play the remake, because I heard such bad things! The original Turtles in Time is an all-time classic in my eyes. My first SNES game!

I lived on that original cartoon when I was a kid, but going back to it is a big cheese fest. It's fun for a laugh. The new toon is a lot like the original, which updates. Like, Michaelangelo no longer says "cowabunga", it's "booyakasha". It's a fun show!

I was a little too old for the toys and cartoon, but I loved the old TMNT arcade games!

Yeah, I have great memories of playing the first Turtles arcade game at one of our local arcades. I picked it up on XBLA, and it was fun, but it's not quite the same!

My boyfriend in college used to watch the cartoon in between classes back in 1989/1990. I still have the cups from Burger King.

Nice! I don't think I had any of those cups. I used to have the McDonald's cups for different movies, like The Flintstones, Jurassic Park and Batman Forever (which lit up). I loved those!

I use to like them as a kid but started to grow out of them. I was always more of a Super Mario Super Show fan XD

Hopefully the new cartoon on Nickelodeon is good. I notice a lot of the new cartoons released are not as great as the older cartoons.

Yeah, that's generally the case. I don't think this one is enjoyed by everyone, but I like it.

Another cartoon I've been enjoying latey is Tron: Uprising (I'm a huge Tron fan), but I think that's either in the process of, or has been, cancelled.

ilove the turtles! I watched the show, even watched those horrendous movies. Vanilla Ice? Rapping? Really? But the games have always been a blast. I like the new action figures they are putting out as well. Turtle Power Forever I say.

Have you seen the figures they have out for the original comics? They came out a few years ago and they are awesome!

TMNT original comics figures.

I'm an old school fan of the turtles. My prized possesions are first print runs of the first 4 comics. They are slightly bigger than a normal comic and from what I read Eastman And Laird were hand delivering them to the shops when these were published. Anyway this new game may be cool. As for the new movie... Bay will butcher it just like he did to the Transformers. As I mentioned somewhere else He's Uwe Boll with a big budget.

Yeah, I've heard he's making them aliens or something, which is why the title of his movie is simply "Ninja Turtles".
