Finishing up with Shattered Memories

Shattered Memories is a game I've always been interested in playing, yet it being on the Wii and me not having the Wii around anymore, nor really liking waggle motion I skipped on it. Having recently played through the PSP port of the game, boy was skipping out the first time a big mistake. I think that the high praise for the original game was appropriate, but a lot of it had to do with the motion controls of the Wii. The psp version is fine, but I feel like not playing the Wii version would be a mistake. Story wise the game is great. A lot of emphasis on story through audio logs and exploration, although the game has small areas to explore and I don't like the action part of the game. I'm glad I finally tried the game out. It does enough intersting things to make me think about it a lot after playing it days later. I will add a write up to the "Foggy Files" - Silent Hill revisited blogs soon. Now on to SH: Origins.

I guess I should play this version instead of the original?

I didn't have a problem with the PSP version. I didn't like the action parts and there are no weapons or combat, just running through mazes. I think the Wii version would enhance exploring with the flashlight and the cellphone parts of the game, but I would imaging the running bits would be difficult with waggle.

Sorry, I meant this vs. the original Playstation Silent Hill, not necessarily Wii vs. PSP ports of this update.

I hated playing it with motion controls. I did not get very far and kept dying due to the controls not working properly (or me not being able to work them properly)

I bought the PSP version for that reason. I still haven't started that one.

I think people complained about similar issues with Zelda on Wii, controls not working. All you really do is walk around and tinker with the environment and use your flashlight alot. I don't know about the running bits. I would imagine hating the running bits with motion controls. I still hated the running bits on PSP so there is that.

Yes it was during the running bits where you had to interact with the environment to get away from the bad things.

I'm not sure what is worse, the running bits in that game or the ones in Downpour

Dont tell me this about Downpour! I still want to play it. There are running bits? Argh!

Yeah I blogged about it last year. Several times during the game a vortex appears and you have to run away from it or die. No map, no idea where you are supposed to run to and lots of dead ends that result in you having to turn around and run back towards the thing. Picture the fun house exit section of SH 3 but much longer.

I failed 10 times on the 3rd time it appears and rage quit.

I just wanted to complete the series. There is another game that plays like Diablo for Vita which I  might get into later.

I really enjoyed Origins. It was as close to the first three games as they have managed to come.

I played Shattered Memories on the Wii and really enjoyed it. I thought they made good use of the Wii remote, so the waggle didn't bother me. I wrote a review back on 1UP. That seems so long ago lol.
