Square Enix Disappoints Me

You would think if you pre-ordered something, especially with a month in advance that Square Enix would know how many orders to fullfill so they would be a head of the game. No, they don't. I can't believe how incompetent they are and the whole industry when I think about how this industry schedules everything. It drives me crazy. Doesn't pre-ordering suppose to secure yourself a copy???

They should have realized with an estimation how many they will be able to fullfill and if they can't meet that number to tell people during checkout that its on back order. I want to say that they probably can and just warning me but what does that say about their business model that they don't have the confidence to fullfill pre-orders?

UPDATE:

"t's come to our attention that you recently received a backorder notification email regarding the Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster portion of your order. Please disregard this email as it was sent in error. We have stock available ulfill all pre-order purchases.

"We are in the process of transmitting your order of Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster to our warehouse for shipment so that it will arrive on or as close to the March 18, 2014 release date as possible. Your order will be shipping out soon and you will receive a notification email as soon as it is on its way."

Square really isn't doing a good job as a business between this and how you can only order Drakengard 3 off their website with a high shipping fee. When a company makes ordering their games this hard or confusing, something is serioiusly wrong.

I don't like ordering directly from any of these publishers/developers because of the ridiculous shipping costs. Besides that, I like getting Amazon gift cards and paying it off but I did see a way to pay for most things before shipping by going through Pay Pal.

Are they going to fulfill the preorders at a later date?

As you can see I update the blog. They just sent me an update.

I'd be pissed if I got a game I pre-ordered later than everyone else. Unless they threw in another freebie of some kind.

Yeah, it should be a guarantee. They are making more money by cutting out the middle man. They should know people pre-ordering are the more dedicated people. Its not like they didn't know how many pre-orders there are to guarantee stock.

Between this screw up effecting you directly and Drakengard 3 only offered on SE's main site I think they really need to look inward and contemplate their business model. Undecided

I want to buy Drakengard 3 from them but I hate that the company charges you immediately for the pre-order. Add that on to the extra cost and the fact that the site has been compromised several times in the past. Even though this problem seems to be an mistake, there's so many other things keeping me away from the site.

At least it seems to be an error, but I'm not a fan of buying directly from any gaming company.

Digital River screwed up big on Ni no Kuni pre-orders. I preordered the Wizard Edition in September and got screwed out of it. At least Namco did try to make it up somewhat with the free hardbound strategy guide they sent me, and I've since gotten the collectors' editions for both Tales of Xillia and Tales of Symphonia, but those came from Gamestop.
