And it's another Random Update from the gaming ranger!
Reading: Not a damned thing. I really ought to, though. My reading backlog is getting ridiculous.
Watching: Still watching Supernatural, I'm at the end of season 3. I like it, but in small doses. Kyle XY has me hooked. I ended up staying up really late Saturday night watching the end of the first season and the first couple of the second season because I had to know what was going to happen next. Also watching Burn Notice when I need a break from scifi/horror. It's amusing, and I like the characters. Watched a great documentary called Reel Injun on Netflix about Hollywood's depiction of Native Americans through the years yesterday afternoon. And the new Cosmos series started last night. That last one excites me greatly, as the original Cosmos aired when I was eleven and it was one of the only shows my parents let me watch during their anti-television kick that lasted way too many years.
Playing: Tales of Symphonia arrived in the mail last Monday. Love the game, but there are a few things that haven't aged well. I'll save that for a blog when I finish the game. Also started Afrika yesterday. I love taking photos, and nature/wildlife photography is my thing. I thought I'd love this game. I may yet, but so far it's disappointing. Again, I'll save that for another blog.
Listening: Doing some research on the soundtrack for AC IV, the subject for yet another blog, and got the urge to listen to a few shanty CDs - Finn & Haddie - Fathom This, Tom Hall - A Bottle Full for the Shantyman, The Johnson Girls - The Johnson Girls, and The Johnson Girls - On the Rocks.
Iditarod: Jeff King has taken the lead from Aliy Zirkle, he's in at White Mountain, only 77 miles from the finish. He has a 57 minute lead on Aliy, which is huge at this point in the race. He also has one more dog in his team, and traveled almost 1 mph faster than Aliy's team on the leg from Elim to White Mountain. Dallas Seavey has moved into third, with Martin Buser in fourth, Mitch Seavey (Dallas' father and last year's winner) in fifth, and that crazy Aaron Burmeister (he of the dislocated knee) is still in the top ten at eighth. Newton Marshall, the Mushing Mon from Jamaica, is in 46th. One of the things I love best about this race is that they consider everyone who crosses the finish line to be a winner, not just the people who finish "in the money". There's a red lantern hung on the arch and it isn't extinguished until the last musher comes in.
Pets: Kaylee continues to amuse. Today, she attempted to get into a lunch-size brown paper bag. All she managed was to get the bag stuck on her head and remind me of an old Sylvester the Cat cartoon. She's annoyed with me now for laughing at her, and I was laughing too hard to take a photo. Bandit's still enjoying his adoption day bone, it still has some cheese left in it.
And I start work in 20 days! It will be nice to have an income again.
