Please make the bad man stop...

At this point, I'm pretty sure I've spent more time at the school campus where I work than my apartment. Basketball season is long gone (at least for home games) but I've found myself working long - if not longer - nights still due to another problem: vacant positions. I've probably mentioned this in previous blogs but at the start of February, an employee in charge of the 8th grade building quit after two days.

Two weeks after that, another worker quit and this case was just bizarre. She's been with the company just as long if not longer than I have been. She wanted to take a weekend off (including Friday) to "celebrate her birthday" with her husband and when my boss said no, she threw a hissy fit and (spurned on by her husband, I'm told) quit. This is just nuts. For the past 2 months, our area has been racked by ice/snow storms on three occasions, so she's had plenty of time off. Also, she's at an age where I'd figure celebrating a birthday is no longer a concern.

After that, her building had to be covered. So for the past month, my boss and I have spent every work night teaming up and cleaning those buildings until he could hire replacements. Two days ago, he found a replacement for the 8th grade building. He told me yesterday that he's interviewed someone for 5-6th grade building (where Mrs. Drama Queen used to work). Should that interview prove promising, he may start this person next week. Fucking finally. I can focus on my own stuff and not get dragged down with the workload.

Another obstacle now is that, due to the 15 days of school missed for weather, we'll be working on select Saturdays and some holidays (such as Memorial Day). Spring Break won't be fucked with, however (*shrugs*). So there are some 6 day workweeks to look forward to. I hope this other position is taken care of then due to another obstacle....

Some assholes have convinced the athletic department that there needs to be soccer teams, so they're trying out teams this year. Fine.
They'll be using the football field for home games. Also fine. I mean, where else could you have them?
The first home game was yesterday afternoon. Fair enough. You people are serious and organized.
My boss wasn't notified until 2 hours before the game started. I take that back. What the fuck.
He wasn't told the info from the coaches or anyone involved with the teams or the games. He was told by the head of maintainence. Of course not. Why would you want to tell the person who's in charge of cleaning up the field after you? Who the fuck wants to deal with that?

The only good news is that there's only 4 home games in total and they probably won't generate huge crowds (if last night was any proof). But the failure in communication or cooperation just slays me. It never fails to surprise despite how it happens in some form every year. We're willing to help you. Just let us know in advance. Okay?

*crickets*

No games played, aside from Spelunky daily challenges. I'm taking today and tomorrow off so i plan to finish Red Dead Redemption. After that, who knows what I'll attempt. I've got a great pick of the litter. I also have plenty of films and recent tv to watch. Right now, Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is playing (so great after all these years), I've had some coffee and a delicious apple fritter in me and I'm taking a nap. I'm sorry for the rambling, depressing rant that has filled this blog entry. There's nothing else to talk about right now. My energy is spent. I'll post again when it comes back and hopefully I'll be in better spirits.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

RDR is great.  I loved just riding around on my horse through the wilderness. That was epic.

Just finished the game. It's a permanent lock in my top 10 favorite games, if not the top 5.

Eh, this is not the first time this has happened. You take a chance on people and sometimes they let you down. Oddly enough, right now is the best time to deal with this mess; I'd hate to deal with this during football or basketball season.

We are starting to see more and more job turn over with the customer service jobs in our area. Keep hearing the peoeple they hire end up quitting a few days later. makes me wonder what kind of what they have to do for the pay offered.

It seems that communication is falling short with work these days. i can relate myself and I don't even have access to those fancy work devices you have to use to contact people like hpones, PC or email.
