I was planning to do this after BaD ended, but then I got lazy. Then I was planning to do this after I went on a trip to Amsterdam (spoilers: it was great), but then I got lazy. To finish it up, I was even going to write it last week, but you know, lazy.

Just to make a small summary of some things that happened:

- Like I mentioned above, I went to Amsterdam from the 6th to the 8th of March. It was a trip from the Rotary club (the organization of my exchange program) and we mosly walked and visited museums, but it was great. I liked the architecture of the city and I found curious the copious amount of bicycles (I joked that bicycles are more dangerous than cars in Amsterdam). The things I liked the most were visiting the house of Anne Frank and the boat trip through the canals. Not sure if i'm going to post images here.

- Somewhere around March, I went to see Saving Mr Banks, the movie about the creation of Mary Poppins. It was good. Nothing special and it's probably inacuarate historicaly, but it was still worth looking at, has some good moments, good acting and it isn't that sentimental.

Now, i've been having some Steam activity. I bought Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Mass Effect and Hotline Miami recently and I regreted not buying the GTA collection when it was on promotion.

I only played PoP once, but it's working fine. One of the things that I was always bad at the game on the original Xbox was wall jumping, so much that I never managed to even reach the dagger, AT THE FIRST AREA OF THE GAME. The good thing is that it only took about three tries before I managed to do wall jumping and finally beat a part that has always haunted me. I exorcised a demon if you would call it that.

Mass Effect however won't start. The game seems to match the specs of my computer, but just as I boost the game, it returns to the Steam library. I looked at the Steam support and the only possible problem is that my anti-virus Norton won't allow start the game.... you know, I posted in Tumblr that Norton reminds of Fi from Skyward Sword; necesary for your protection, but doesn't stop interrupting you and being a nuisance for your progress. Seriously, Fuck You Norton!

Oh well, atleast Hotline Miami is working and i've been having a good time with it. It's hard, but it feels like Super Meat Boy in that it is still fair. I've gone very safe into some missions, but I think once I get used to the game I can start rampaging. Music is excellent too.

Okay, who's the idiot that touched Heavy's gun? (artwork found here)

I had oficially become a Team Fortress 2 fan.

I was always interested in playing the game due to the asthetics, the Meet the Team videos and the fan works i've always seen around the internet. My start was last year, but I only played 50 minutes because I didn't like the quality on my desktop computer. Even with my new laptop, I wanted to wait till I had an urge to play it and lo and behold, I suddenly had a trigger happy hunger. I installed the game again, went to the training and once I had some practice with the bots, I started playing multiplayer.

What can I say, the game is VERY fun. Something I quite like is how the classes complement each other and feel balanced, meaning that for the most part, there's not much camping. I try using every class now and then, but I mostly select Scout, Pyron or Sniper since those are the ones I've dominated.

Anyway, that's all for today. Tomorrow I plan to post some things I bought on this month, so look forward to that.

That's great you got into TF2 Alex, that's one of my favorites. I love the classes, especially the Engineer and the Scout. When I play capture the flag I start as a Scout and try to rush to get the intelligence before people can settle in and put up sentries. Once people have set up defenses I usually switch to Engineer as long as there's people on the team who are doing the offense. However, sometimes I end up on teams where EVERYBODY wants to play defense so I end up having to be an offense dude like a spy or soldier lol.

That's also a good thing about TF2, you have to change classes to find a balance and do the better option of attacking or defending. Sentries being annoying? Then change to a spy and zap them. Soldier spamming rockets at a long distance? Headshot with a Sniper. It's really great the balance.

I kinda need to practice more with the Engi and Spy. So far, I kinda suck using them.

I've been playing Team Fortress in various incarnations for near fifteen years now.  I love that game.

Sounds like amsterdamn was fun.  I would like to go to Anne Frank's house.

It really is a fun game.

If you decide to go to Amsterdam (only one M Snee), I also recommend going to the Van Gogh museum (hey you have him in your avatar after all).

I've gotten lazy with blogs due to a busy March as well.

I'd love to go to Amsterdam.

I saw Saving Mr. Banks on accident the other day and really enjoyed it. Two historical innacuracies: it was a song about an old lady feeding birds, not "Let's Go Fly A Kite" that endeared Travers to the idea of a musical, and Travers hated the film when she saw it at the premiere.

I need to get around to Hotline Miami and my GTA: Complete Pack. I hope you'll love PoP as much as I did when I played it on GCN when it first released.

Team Fortress 2 looks fun. I saw a few Game Grumps Animated with those models last night.

I already knew that Travers didn't like film that much on release, but I didn't think they showed that she liked the film either, as there were shots of her rolling her eyes. I also heard in an interview on the 70s that she thought the movie was nice, but not what she wanted.

On the original Xbox the other PoP games (Warrio Within and The Two Thrones) are among my favorites, so I think your excitement with the first game can be translated to the sequels. I already passed the part that haunted my childhood, so hopefully I can enjoy the game as fully intended.

Oh God, I hated  Warrior Within with a fiery passion when I rented it. I thought they watered down the art style to look more like Mortal Kombat, which matched the "gritty" new characters that replaced the likeable people and Disney-like cinematic nature of the first glorious entry ... but then those "dark" sequels did A LOT better financially, so I'm in the minority there. I'm glad you enjoyed it, even if I didn't. Had I not played the first, I probably would have liked it too to be honest, it wasn't bad I just hated the changes they made.

As for Travers, I disagree about the portrayal. She rolls her eyes a couple times, but I agree with Nostalgia Critic, they were definitely trying to portray it as if she enjoyed it overall, especially once she started crying and pretending she was bothered by something else. I'd like to hear that interview though, I'm a lot more interested in Travers and Poppins than I ever was before I saw Banks. I might actually watch Poppins  the whole way through soon, which I never have.

Yeah, I can see why many people hated Warrior Within. Just so you know, you might like The Two Thrones since it doesn't have the tone of Warrior Within and despite the M rating, i've heard it returns some of the asthetics from The Sands of Time.

I disagree with you and Doug on the crying. For me, it fells more like the movie triggered the sad memory shown in the scene and the movie left ambigous wheter Travers liked the movie or not.

I agree they were showing the sad scene to bring about the memory, and I applaud Disney for not showing her final reaction as a happy one, but I think they left out her final reaction so they could make an argument that they made it ambiguous, but I still think they were trying to spin it positively. They didn't show her final reaction though, so your point is definitely as valid as mine, I'm just very skeptical.

As for Warrior Within, it's been long enough that I may even wind up agreeing with all the reviews I read about the combat system improving, but at the time it was too much change in the wrong direction tonally for me. It'd be interesting to see if my mind would  change if I p[layed both again.

I was in Amsterdam for 4 weeks between late 1999 and early 2000. I worked most of the time but I did get to see a bit of the city in-between. Cool place.

Indeed. I would like to live there.

I thought about getting Mass Effect off steam, thinking it would run better than my physcial copy I have for my pc.  I guess the digital versions have their problems too.

Alex-C25

It ain't a problem with the digital version, it's just Norton being a dick for my "safety". Besides, except the format, I don't think there's much differences between the retail and digital version of Mass Effect. I think they need the same especs for getting them to run.

Prince Of Persia is a good series but yeah,it can be friggin frustrating at points! I would suggest most of the games for anyone that wants a challenging action platformer!

It wasn't the game being frustrating really, that part was just me sucking at wall jumping.

I was worried about using a credit card on Steam, but I saw at the drug store that they have Steam cards you can get. Problem solved. I'm also worried about my virus software getting in the way of game installs. That could be a real pain.

I'd love to see some Amsterdam pics.

It's still safe to use a credit card though.

You can look at the support page for information about anti-viruses. I remember a section with a list of anti-viruses that might interfere with the game, and Norton was listed.

I'll see if i'll post Amsterdam pics...

I just like the Steam Card because they are limited. It gets too easy with a credit card to run things up. I'll have to remember that anti-virus section. I use Mcafee.

and the debacle of PC gaming continues....

It's a double edge sword, i'll admit, but once you figure out how to work with it, it pays off in the end.... for the most part lol.
