hope you feel better man. I'm slowly feeling better, but still coughing.
Purple cake sounds nice.

The panda is calming me down, because I really feel like the picture on the right
So I wanted to upload "March MaD Life: Hindsight 03/31" to explain why my March was so busy and therefore led to me not really doing my MaD blogs as planned, but Chrome crashed twice due to memory overload from all the AT&T Stadium pictures (one of which is now my profile pic and marks the second time I've gone behind the podium in that press room) and accompanying text, and I thought I had copied all of the second blog to repost in the third attempt, but all I saw after hitting ctrl+v was a giant wall of code. So uh ... fuck this.
Instead, I'll just say again in epic run-on sentence form, that due to a VIP Tour of AT&T Stadium in Arlington, TX (formerly "Dallas" Cowboys Stadium, where my older brother has worked for the past few years and got us free tickets to take his friend's tour), a tour of the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Fort Worth, TX (where no smart phones or camera devices of any kind were allowed and they used airport-style security screening before you got on their two-minute bus ride to the actual facility), a visit to the West End in Dallas and the historic landmarks, like Kennedy's Museum, Memorial and Assassination Site, etc. The Holocaust Museum, a log cabin, other historical markers and the now ghost town-feeling West End that used to be so vibrant not long ago when I was a kid, a trip to North Park mall, and a St. Patrick's party all over Spring Break, where I was passing out by 5pm every day due to taking medication again and being so active with not as much food as usual, then watching SFASU's Desmond Haymon pull a four-point play to send us into overtime against VCU,
He went to the line after the shot and foul to make it four points and tie it up
leading to our two-point win over VCU, which I watched with other SFASU students going crazy in the Baker Patillo Student Center theater
Don't let the voices fool you, I guarantee you like 95% of the campus is unfamiliar with the University's song.
sadly having to watch their defeat to UCLA by 17 points on my birthday after a great meal at Texas Roadhouse with my family, but was nothing but proud when Coach Underwood and Desmond Haymon came out and spoke in front of the Student Center the day after, which my professor released us from our Media Law class early to see; plus there was purple cake and ice cream.
Coach Underwood: First year with the team and leads us to the round of 32 for the first time in the University's history; we have been to the NCAA and NIT, but lost the first rounds. Underwood is funny to boot. He needs more Twitter followers, like that naked guy.
Coach Underwood brags on the team starting at
3:02 32 wins (in the season and postseason), most in school history
3:10 First NCAA tournament win in school history
3:17 Southland Conference Champions with 18-0 record; first time in Southland Conference history ... of the modern era(? ... I'll take it, whatever that means)
3:30 Conference tournament champions
3:35 33 game home court winning streak at the SFASU Coliseum (where basketball is played), tied with Duke, lasted longer in tournament than they did
4:04 12 game road winning streak, tied with Witchita State (as of March 24, 2014 at least)
4:13 29 consecutive games won and "for three hours, we had the longest winning streak in the country"
4:28 Conference player of the year,
Jacob "Sunshine" Parker (right, next to drunk-face NW State Guy)
who was also named first team all-District 7 in this senior year of his
4:48 Thomas Walkup named defensive player of the year and third-time (team? too much cheering ... then something else); pretty sure I was his AHD at the then brand-new Lumberjack Landing Freshman Residence Hall in Fall 2011.
He was also named Southland Conference tournament MVP
5:40 He then has DeShaunt Walker, Nikola Gajic, and Desmond step forward and has Dez step back to say the first two never lost a home game. Then he has Desmond step forward to say that he is SFA's all time winningest basketball player and to say that he will live in NCAA history books with his four-point shot against VCU, and that he is a thousand-point scorer. Dez simply thanks God and the fans, says Go Jacks, and it's cake and ice cream time.
And then I started shooting the basketball around again and getting crazy into March Madness streaming online and on CBS or cable when I was on campus, then got sick from staying up too long and spring cleaning a few nights.
And here we are.
So, I will try to post what I can of the other pictures and videos I have from this crazy month, where I was also attending Master's classes and working, and then do something about the fact not every daily blog last month existed or had what it was supposed to. Slowly and uncertainly. Back to bed, gonna hack up a lung.
Opinion poll:
Left or right (sans Ghostbusters symbol, obviously)
Lol just bustin' your balls, but yeah I hope we both feel better. I keep getting tired after taking an Allegra D and being like, "I feel so much better, it'll be gone after this nap," then waking up and realizing :holy shit, it's gone! Only my throat is scratchy and I can just about feel dust in my nose, even though I dusted in here." Booooo!
But yeah, purple treats always sound nice. Those purple cow dairy farms are run by good people.
Once again that was an INSANE four point play. This is why March Madness is so great! The one thing I like about Texas sports is it seems all schools have some kind of hand signal. The only school here that does it is USC and their Victory V.
Major props to the basketball team. They accomplished a lot, especially 32 wins. That right there is impressive. Hell of a run.
As for the logos I still like the one on the right
As always, thanks for commenting! Yeah, Desmond's play was one for the record books, but I didn't know he was also our winningest basketball player ever. I can see why Underwood got emotional, since Haymon's a senior.
And yeah, 32-3 ain't bad for a team who's never won an NCAA tournament game before getting through that Navy Seal-trained Havoc defense we kept hearing about during that game. I think if UCLA's players were like a couple inches shorter, we'd have beat them too. lol
As for the logo thing, me too, but the petition against it was successful and I saw this posted by my ex-girlfriend (who sang beautifully to tie in second place for Lumberjack Idol last night) and found its arguments incredibly specious ... which I also posted about on my Facebook. lol
