You're All Fools, but So Am I

Draft Day releases on April 11, and as far as I know, no one's filming at AT&T Stadium except the NCAA people this weekend. Gotcha.

Of course, I think this worked because I mixed that part in with truth:

My brother was in He's Not Your Son as a baby, or at least filmed and paid for it

He was also in Invincible when they filmed extras at the old Cowboys Stadium

My brother does work for AT&T Stadium, which is why my profile picture ... which seems to have gone back to the Sonic one, so I got tricked? ... was of me at the press conference podium therein when I posted yesterday's blog.

I also think I kept it just far-fetched enough that you could figure out it was a hoax with a bit of digging, but not so outlandish that it seemed unbelievable, given my ties to the stadium and the fact they more than likely do film shots using extras in there from time to time, as Dallas and Louisiana etc. are becoming more attractive to filmmakers due to more relaxed policies, especially on taxes.

But, hey, Red Box got me good. I thought their "Mood Touch" sensor seemed totally legit.

They then rubbed salt in my wound by telling me the 50c off offer was only good on April 1

I saw this close to 1am today.

Also, there was that Pokemon game Google did that everyone knew was a hoax, but loved playing anyway, where you catch 150 Pokemon scattered around the globe. My ex-girlfriend texted me that she had found them all while I was watching 12 Years A Slave after having watched Nebraska ... sickness makes me watch movies; my upper respiratory virus, as I was told is my issue today, makes me too tired to do much else, really.

Updated my phone's app just to play this and ... couldn't. Bullshit!

So yeah, I may have fooled you (or you were just being nice), but trust me, April 2nd karma-kicked my ass for it good.

Or maybe not, cause I found out SGC 2014 tix will only be $40 for me, so definitely going, and I downloaded a free trial of both Red Box's new attempt at streaming service (prettty much Netflix plus 4 "free" kiosk rentals/mo) as well as Photoshop and the Adobe Creative Cloud for a free trial.

I've been fooled by EGM a couple times in the past, too. First by the Sonic & Tails being unlockable Melee characters thing, then by being told pre-ordering Wind Waker would net you a more realistic-looking version of the game along with the cel-shaded copy. Look, I didn't know how much you'd have to do to change the graphical style at the time, I think I figured it was more or less a palette swap.

I guess that's all I have to say about the events of Captivate 2010, really, so I'll leave you with this list of yesterday's pranks:

I figured JerryWorld was big enough to host both because basketball usually takes up one side of a stadium...unless they're going to play the game under the giant HD Screens, which means folks who bought tickets were paying to watch the game on TV. I thought the timetable was a little iffy especially with the movie being released soon, but you got me. The details seemed legit because I had some friends be extras and they said some similar things. Well played, on the April Fools Prank!

I saw that Pokemon thing on Google Maps but I didn't try it. I blame MLB The Show for taking up the free time.

My older brother has done work as an extra, and having been involved in production, I know how extras are generally compensated from both his and my own experiences, so that's how I was able to make it sound authentic.

As for the basketball thing, I'm a bit worried about that TV, cause people I've worked with have complained that they feel like during football games, they're paying to watch TV. Maybe it's in a different position during actual games there, but I've always been able to see the field just fine from pretty much anywahere, so I dunno.

I forget, is The Show like a Sportscenter type thing, or like a reality TV show competition thing?

I can see people getting distracted by the giant screen.

I haven't played much of the other modes in The Show, but in Road to the Show, you create a character, get drafted, and the game fast forwards to you either batting, or a ball is hit to you if you are a position player. At the end of games you earn points that can be used to upgrade your player.

The presentation is I think the MLB Network talking heads, one of them Matt Vasgersian used to be one of the talking heads for the Padres.

Well, I can see your picture at the podium.

I've been mostly in a state of recovering from a virus too. Atleast i'm not outright sick, but i'm not fully recovered and I have a buzz in my left ear due to snot interfering my hear. Hopefully the medicine I have will help me.

The jokes on me because of Blake pretending to be a troll user, where not only I believed him but even did a wall of text worthy of you and Michael where I defended indie games. Once mothman discovered that gaf4life was Blake, I was in a state of shock....

LOL I did not see that, but I'm glad my inability to be succinct does not go unnoticed by people who aren't my professors. I really do need to watch that.

And that is exactly the type of prank I'd expect from Blake, and it sounds awesome.

I'll admit you got me pretty good, just when I thought I wasn't gonna get fooled too.

Pretty much everything except for the Costner/shoot thing was true (my older bro works for the stadium, has been an extra in a couple films, etc. were true details) and as I told Chris, I have a background in production as well as knowledge of how my older bro and most extras were/are compensated/what they do, so it wasn't hard to come up with believable details for the fool.

Hope you had a great birthday, by the way!
