Trinity Universe a different take on the Disgaea series.

Overall the game is convoluted in cuteness, but the basic premise is that random floating objects are found in space and your character can go and “explore” these floating objects, which range from stuff panda toys to takoyaki balls. Once you do decide to explore them, you are thrown into a dungeon where you go around a school-like area looking for treasures and fighting enemies. Much like the Persona series, the floors have floor bosses as well as a form of limiting dungeon crawling. The longer you stay on a dungeon will release the dark aura which will then chase you down and if confronted, you will face a super hard boss that is tough to defeat, again much like The Reaper from Persona.
The battle systems a little different then Disgaea
The battle system consists of your three party members and a bunch of AP (action points). You decide the actions of your members which cost AP and their magics and skills are associated to one of three buttons to which you can press in chains to link combos. Pretty much that’s the battle system and it is pretty easy especially seeing that you basically heal every turn if done correctly.
The story and acting has the same Disgaea humor
When you’re at the “home” of your game, like where you can pick which region to explore, you’re greeted with this super anime theme that you would come to expect from these mashup games, but I still loved. I haven’t heard the English dub (because my friend wanted to keep it authentic), but the Japanese dub is fantastic. As for the story, it’s a mess of character interactions and a lot of “fourth-wall breaking”. It’s a wacky fun game that I think otakus will find enjoyable as well as the fans of NIS, Gust, or Idea.
