Today I will be able to see LL Cool J, Tim McGraw, and The Killers for free at Reunion Park in Dallas, while the Final Four games are going on at AT&T Stadium in Arlington ... err, "North Texas." Whatever. That confused me because my brother's college is University of North Texas, which is in Denton ... not that close to Arlington. I mean, it is under an hour, I guess, but ...
Sunday, I can see fun. and Bruce "The Boss" Springsteen and The E-Street Band (if Max Weinberg is still their drummer, I'll forgive Team Coco for not giving me tickets to see Conan this week while he was in Dallas), after whoever The Wind & The Wave and Pat Green Band are.

It's first-come, first-serve until parking capacity is full up, so I plan on getting there early and staying, even though not every band is necessarily my thing. I'm always down to broaden my horizons, and I've never been to a country or rap concert, so bring it on.

I'll be getting updates on the games from my theScore app on my phone, and I wouldn't doubt if the bands or concert putter-onners update the games for us. Plus I can always watch the actual games online once they're done, so I'm not too worried about "missing" the Final Four games.
Speaking of which, I'm hoping for a Florida-Wisconsin final game.
I was debating on whether I wanted Kentucky to win their game against WI tomorrow, because UK had the toughest road to the Final Four of any NCAA team ever, apparently, and I considered them a powerful underdog. I love powerful underdogs.
Then my dad pointed out that most of the UK team are Freshmen who are expected to be one-and-done and move to the NBA once the season ends this upcoming Monday, which made them lose that underdog status their 8th-seed placement made them seem like they had. Thus, I'm going with family roots and rooting for Wisconsin. Hey, their star player, Kaminsky, makes me think of the awesome Drive artist Kavinsky:
Mmmmm ... 80s-ish
and I love a high scorer, so more power to him and his team.
Speaking of good scorers, this happened:

Tonight's win was also the first time in franchise history we swept the Lakers.
Between this and SFASU's success this year, which now also includes Coach Underwood winning the Joe B. Hall Award, it's been a hell of a good year for my favorite basketball teams and myself. So it's the perfect time to bust this out:
Top right, notice the number and "shoulda lean"
Good times, junior high. Kind of.
The basketball part was good, cause I was still good at it. I'd honestly say I was second only to #44 next to me as far as MVP, cause I had the shot-making arm, but he was a much more physical player who did more for us overall.
The romantic side of this particular period in my life, on the other hand, was still just ... well, shit. lol
Ok, it's a bit sad that my "glory days" were in junior high, but c'mon, we're having fun here. lol Been getting back into at least shooting around in the gym, though. This year has really gotten me back in the spirit!
As for University of Connecticut and Florida, I'm definitely going for Florida. I know nothing about UConn, but if there's one thing I love more than a high scorer named Kaminsky playing for a college that represents my parents' birthplace and one I almost went to, it's a redemption story. I want Wilbekin to do well after almost being kicked out and being forced to move in with his parents by the coach. He seems like he's become a great leader. Also, Young is just hilariously well-built, so there's that.
As for the final game, while I have Florida winning it all in my bracket, I want to see Wisconsin pull an upset ... if they're even the two teams playing. We'll see.
Have a great weekend everyone! I know I will!
I'm glad you went with shoulda lean and not the arm crossed look like the left side of the back row. Good choice, Junior High Joe!
All of that "North Texas," Dallas Cowboys play in Arlington, etc. stuff is lame. Someone gets it in their head that Arlington isn't cool (which it isn't) and avoids putting the name on anything. It just adds confusion.
Actually, Jerry had to give several million or so of his own dollars to help build AT&T (then Cowboys) Stadium, if that's what you're talking about. And you can't argue it's hurting the city's tourism any. I'm not really sure what you're getting at. lol
I don't care about Jerry one way or the other really, and most of my family hates him (especially my aunt, who found his humor disgusting when she met him), but I don't think it's right to say the billionaire tricked the citizens into building a giant stadium. That's not exactly correct, I don't think ..
I'm confused. lol
That picture reminds me of another "dead mall" I used to go to. Look at this sad (hot linked and now maybe not visible pic) of the food court at the now demolished North Hills mall in North Richland Hills. Pretty sure that the center store used to be Egghead and then an Electronics Boutique... Sad...
Yes, I'm sort of having a conversation with myself here.
Lol. Well I'm not being sarcastic when I say the Arlington Cowboys would just sound dumb, so I'd like to keep it the Dallas Cowboys, even if that's not necessarily accurate. I hail from DeSoto and we all just say Dallas. It just sort of absorbs everything except Fort Worth, cause the name is so much cooler sounding than every other nearby city or suburb. Also, it's a cooler name than Fort Worth. I'd hate for them to be the Fort Worth Cowboys. Bleh.
Am ... am I the one being sarcastic now? I can't tell either. I'm gonna go listen to Smashing Pumpkins to make myself feel better. Hopefully, some day I'll be able to root for my Mellon Collie Mavericks.
http://ksauradio.com ... I don't even enjoy plugging my alt rock radio station and stream anymore ... I just feel forced to do it whenever the opportunity comes up.
That looks like a pretty good lineup of acts to check out during the Final Four.
I had Florida winning one of my brackets but they got bounced. I'm not a fan of UConn because of the Sweet Sixteen game where Kimba Walker had a flop against us and that turned the tide. I root against them, but I'm not a fan of Kentucky either, but I don't hate them as much...so Go Wildcats!
Dirk. I wasn't a fan of his until he beat the Heat. I now respect him and his game. As for the Lakers....LOLOLOL. This season has been fun especially for the bandwagon fans here in SoCal (during the Shaq/Kobe days car flags were everywhere. People were "die hard" fans etc. Now you don't see the purple and gold anywhere)
It was amazing. I'd easily pay $50 or more for either Killers or fun., $150 for Springsteen, and LL Cool J, Tim McGraw, and Pat Green were also great, plus Kevin Hart, Chuck Barkley and Greg Anthony were also feet away from me (The Boss crod-surfed and came even closer!) ... and it was free. Also got to see Tom Morello and Max Weinberg and take my picture w/ virtual Conan, play arcade games, eat good fair-style food ... it was amazing and FREE! ALL FREE!!!
I'm rooting UConn cause I feel it's unfair they have to play an NBA team.
Mavs won 93-91 over Sacramento Kings right as The Boss was covering "Jump!" It was a nice time. Also, fuck the 2006 Miami Referees.
That sounds like one hell of a time, and that is one heck of a lineup!
Oh Kentucky, you started out with those 40-0 shirts, and ended up losing to the Huskies. Well next year they will have a crazy Freshmen class again.
Oh yeah I remember that series. D Wade was getting all the Jordan like calls.
To think, because I don't usually pay attention to March Madness, I thought Kentucky were underdogs of some kind. Well, I'm glad UConn won.
And yeah, Mavs fans usually aren't Lakers fans, but I'm ok with them now that Nash is on that team (just like I was ok with the Phoenix Suns when he was traded there), but I'm not sure I will ever like the Heat after 2006. That was bullshit. Shaq is a likeable guy off the court, but I never loved the calls he got in his favor, either.
I got ya. Yeah, I'd never go back on being a Mavs fan, they're who I grew up with and they started out being bad as well, until Cuban and Nowitzki really started turning them around. They still have problems like being better shots than paint drivers and blowing big leads on occassion, but I love 'em.
By the way, message me your e-mail of you want AT&T VIP Tour pics, I posted a blog about why just now.
How were The Killers? Without a doubt one of my top 5 bands of all time. Big words I know but they were huge all through my college years and my buddies and I had many an amazing night with them chosen as our soundtrack. I saw them live back in 2008 maybe, and they were great.
They .... killed it. I'll have video and pictures I took posted here soon, but mostly those will be to prove how close I was to the stage. You can't tell from my phone's quality, but I definitely saw every band I cared about up close and in HD from maybe 10 rows of people back from the stage on the Reunion Park field in Dallas, if that.
For now though, have my favorite song of theirs the night they played done professionally and then put in a Coke Zero ad before the championship game. I was telling my mom when he came out he had a Wisconsin letterman on (my parents are from there), but it turned out to be a red UNLV one that said "Never Forget" and a few names on the back. The ad made me laugh cause it said they were bringing music to "real basketball fans." I love both the music and basketball, which is my favorite sport, but I definitely heard "fuck basketball, we're here for you!" quite a few times when Springsteen played, and I doubt a lot of the kids there for the other bands gave two shits about basketball haha.
