                             Dragon Warrior VII

The game follows the Hero and his friends as they discover secrets about the mysterious islands surrounding their home of Estard. Through some ancient ruins, they are transported to the pasts of various islands and must defeat evil in each new location. Game mechanics are largely unchanged from previous games in the series, although an extensiveClass system allows players to customize their characters. This is the last game of the Dragon Warrior games the later numbered 8 went 3rd person instead of top down.

                                   Thousand arms

The game takes place on a "steampunk" type of world. The Dark Acolytes, a mysterious organization of cyborgs and robots, is trying to find the five legendary Sacred Flames, and bring chaos to the World in the process. Meis, a womanizing "Spirit Blacksmith" with the ability to make magical weapons, finds himself chosen to find the flames before the Dark Acolytes do. However, to increase the power of his weapons, Meis must have the help of a woman, and must increase his 'intimacy level' with her by going out on dates. Along his journey, he meets a colorful cast of characters, including girls to date and allies to join his party.

                   Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete

Like its forerunner, the game follows the exploits of Alex, a young boy from a small, humble town who enters a life of adventure and intrigue after being chosen as the heir-apparent to the title of "Dragonmaster", guardian of the forces of the planet. With the help of his expanding band of companions, Alex must pass the trials set by ancient dragons to claim his place in history, and stop a powerful sorcerer and former hero from controlling the world.

                      Tales of Destiny

Taking place in a fantasy world, the game follows the story of a young man named Stahn who comes across a sentient sword named Dymlos and his subsequent encounters with other similar sword-wielders. Eventually, he and his friends must unite against evil forces seeking use a relic from an ancient war. The PlayStation release met with mostly positive reception in Japan and North America selling over a million copies world wide, and remains the highest-selling Tales title to this day.

          Kartia The Word of Fate

The game is divided into two "volumes," each centering around a different main character and their friends. The first volume tells the story of Toxa Classico and the second volume is about Lacryma Christi. While each volume tells a complete story, the storylines intertwine in one major plot. Each "chapter" of both volumes revolves around phantoms, beings which can be summoned by certain humans using "Kartia", magical cards which create whatever is written on them, such as Fire or Water. The player must summon and control phantoms to fight for him/her, as well as managing Kartia supplies, casting magic with Kartia and creating weapons for the human combatants. Kartia cards can be combined to create more powerful spells or phantoms. While phantoms may die during battle, if a human party member dies, the game ends and the chapter must be restarted.

I stupidly sold Kartia years ago. Need to track down another copy. I have a feeling it is not going to be cheap though.

The only game I've played is Lunar.  That game is awesome.  I want to play those other games.  I hadn't heard about Kartia.

These look awesome. I think I misread the title because I thought you were going to bash some older games and say "You shouldn't miss these because they suck!" Still a fun read though :)

I've played Lunar Silver Star Harmony on PSP. I guess that's just a port or remake of Silver Star Story Complete?

I have the second Lunar Silver Story. It was a throw in when Game Crazy (don't miss that store, but one of the employees was really good). had a buy 2 get 1 free. I do remember seeing the original at Target for $20 on clearance and passed. I should have picked it up.

I never tried the others. Here's to hoping I run into them in the wild...at a decent price.

i dig all those Atlus titles, though I've yet to play them.  Haven't played a bad Atlus RPG yet.
