Good morning Pixlbit! It is another start to the week and once again the countdown for Friday starts up. I was actually waiting for Sunday night because it was premier of GAME OF THRONES! I spent good chunks of the weekend watching the GOT Marathons on HBO and HBO2, and apparently my HBO is on East Coast time because I got to watch the premier at 6pm Pacific. I won’t talk about the episode until this Friday’s Quick Hits Blog, but I was ready for the show by changing up my Nexus 7’s Wallpaper

Since it was a Game of Thrones weekend I didn’t play much console wise but I did make some small progress in Lego LotR. I feel I should just get one marathon session out of the way, and then work on the extras. I also played more Ghosts and I got to try out the underwater levels. Despite what the in game partner said, I tried to shoot a shark. It didn’t end well. Live and learn. I did however spend some time playing on the tablet including one game I found by accident, spent a good 10 minutes trying to figure out how to install and then I finally enjoyed it.

Yeah so I found an indie game about He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Yes the younger Chris was excited because this is one of the cartoons I grew up watching*

*A couple of years ago in the PSP’s heyday I was on a flight coming back to California, and I bought a UMD of 10 episodes of He-Man. It finally hit me that these cartoons were just commercials for the toys. Five minutes of dialogue, the He-Man transition screen and then a commercial break. Yeah I watched maybe two episodes before I popped the UMD out and played a game

Since this was a fan created game, it wasn’t going to be found on the Google Play Store, but there was no download option for Android on the game’s webpage. Kind of odd but whatever I downloaded Windows package to se what was inside the zip file. I saw a .apk file which is the files that run on Android so I knew I was in the right place so I downloaded and installed that file and it turned out it was the program that ran the game. Another couple of minutes pass before I copied the file out of the “Paks” folder and placed it into the newly installed program and the game finally works! It’s probably in the instructions on the website but I was too busy being excited.

I’m not too fond of on screen controls but the screen is big enough for me to see everything. You can pick through a number of characters including Lion-O. I was never a big fan of Thundercats, I was more into G-Force and Silverhawks

Than Thundercats.

Going back to the He-Man game, I think there are 23 levels of Streets of Rage like gameplay. It’s simple, but it is a fun game. You go through different bad guys, collect gems to refill your health meter, rinse repeat. I haven’t tried out the Windows version of this game but I’m sure it would be a fun party game with friends.

I would like to see the Dolph Lundgren He-Man as a character

Remember this movie? I saw it in theaters. I wonder what happened to the actress in this film. Her name is Courtney Cox, I hope she made it big.

I saw a familiar name pop up on the Google Play Store that I really enjoyed on the iPad

This game is a bit different from the iPad game because it follows the Candy Crush mission map, and with that it also has in-app purchases.

The gameplay is the same but there are a couple of differences like the wild card has changed and you can’t whack the gopher whenever he appears on the screen. Also you have one deck with I think 30 cards to play with for three levels, which means this is going to involve a lot of strategy in the later levels.

As you progress through the map and complete different groups of holes you earn stars. So far I am stuck in one area where I keep missing the amount of points required to get one star. I’ll get there.

So on Sunday I had a dream where I was learning how to play Metallica’s The Unforgiven on the Ukulele. Before I called it a night last night, I popped in Guitar Hero World Tour on the PS2. I haven’t played a Guitar Hero game in a while, and before you guys and gals wonder why I didn’t just pop in Guitar Hero Metallica, I haven’t played World Tour, and wanted to get a feel for it. Besides if I suck at the Metallica game, my dream lied to me.

I started a career and played a couple of venues. I was shocked that I had a perfect game

I think the last time I had a perfect game is in one of the other Guitar Hero games where I unlocked Taylor Swift. I’m going to start playing more of my PS2 especially since I bought a bunch of games for it recently.

Ok Pixlbit we shall end this latest installment here. I have some stuff to get to, and you probably have things to do as well.

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

Such a cool film! I happened to stumble on a copy last year on DVD. One of my better DVD pickups.

A ukelele cover of "Unforgiven" would be pretty metal. Especially if a cat were the one playing.

I see no cat. Tongue Out

Nah, thanks for posting, that actually sounds a lot better than I would have expected. I love that he even did the solo part. He just altered it to better fit the instrument. Nice! m/YellCoolSurprisedCry

If you play the two vids together, maybe they will become one in your mind.

This is awesome! My plastic guitar with buttons wouldn't do this version any justice.

You can never have too much of cats playing instruments. That should be required on all YouTube vids.

I never really got into He-Man.  I was more of a Transformers guy.  I did see the live action He-Man movie in theaters, though.  It was pretty dopey.

I dug Transformers too just not as much as He-Man. I had a couple of the Japanese versions of the Soundwave tapes before the American versions (thank you Japanese stores in malls in Hawaii!). Those were my favorites.

That iOS game, Most Powerful Game in the Universe, looks neat. I also found a PS2 game Defender of Grayskull that looks cool too. Both now on my wishlist. Thanks!

I saw that iOS game, and I think it's on Android too. The PS2 game is news to me. That game goes on the must have list.

It is on Android as well. I keep forgetting to mention both.

Youre right bout the he  man toon being just a vehicle to sell the toys.  It worked though.

I remember the dolph movie but was still pretty young.

Yeah it did. My brother and I had quite a few of the figures, but we never got into the accessories.

I like Silverhawks.  The dvds are pretty cheap.

I need to look these up, and add them to the library.

Haven't watched Game of Thrones that much, like what I've read of the books so far though.

I'm on the second book right now, which is around Season 2. The show is good, but I've heard they've taken some liberties with parts of the storyline.
