Work is rewarding, but exhausting.

Playing: Not a thing other than Zuma and Spider Solitaire. Too tired after work, walking the dog, and making dinner.

Watching: Jason took me to Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier last Monday. Loved it! As for TV, just finished up Season 10 of NCIS, watched a couple of episodes of an old Mystery series called Campion on Netflix. On the fence as to whether I'll bother with any more. I'm sure I've watched something else over the last week, but I'm too tired to remember.

Listening: Currently in the car... Bruce Molsky - Lost Boy, Madonna - True Blue, Madonna - Like a Prayer, The Transatlantic Sessions 3, volume 3, Chris Stuart and Backcountry - Mojave Desert, Dave Carter and Tracey Grammer - When I Go, Anna Coogan and North 19 - Glory, Social Distortion - White Light, White Heat, White Trash, The Dropkick Murphys - Blackout, Emmylou Harris - Red Dirt Girl, Macklemore - The Heist, Rawlins Cross - Reel 'n' Roll

Reading: Still working my way through Insurgent, the second book of the Divergent Trilogy.

Ranger Stuff: Lots of stuff, but it deserves its own blog. I'll try to get my pics uploaded to Flickr this weekend and I'll do a blog then. But until then, here's a video I took on Saturday:

I had to write two giant papers this past week so I didn't get any gaming in. To celebrate, I've spent the past three days doing nothing but gaming (FFX HD and a couple of 3DS games.)

The first couple of weeks back are always like this for me, plus it's a fairly physical job, especially while we're getting the park ready for spring. And I had company on my days off this week.

Ive been gaming and working, working more then gaming at times and tired it seems like all the time. Dieting is still taking its toll on me, my body hopefully will catch up soon. I really need to read a book, I just went to the bookstore and bought 3 books.....I guess I should read 3 to make up for it,lol!

I went to put my uniform pants on, and let's just say I have joined you on the weight loss train. Good news is, I've been able to buckle my belt one more notch in the past week.

Those Great Blue Herons get around. I've seen them near me in PA and down in North Carolina when I go down there.

We have tons of those down in Texas too. There is a huge tree full of them near my parents' house. They can w a lot of noise in a big group like that.

Big group of herons together is called a rookery. They nest communally. I hear not only are they noisy, but also very smelly.

I bet the... rookery... does smell, but it's deep in sone woods over a creek, so I've never gotten very close. Thanks for the cool info!

The range map in my ancient bird book has them covering the entire lower 48 during the summer, and a few parts of Canada. I'm guessing that's expanded since my field guide was published.

IN another life, I'd like to be a ranger.  Maybe somewhere in California.

Most of rangering is dealing with people. They can be the most frustrating or the most rewarding part of the job, depending on how they act.

yeah I'm not good at dealing with people.  But I'm good dealing with trees!

Playing: I hear ya. I was back in my office for 12 hours Wednesday catching up on all the work that piled up while I was sick and I'm still not done. I even worked from 8am-12pm yesterday, but then I had to work on research corrections to hand in at 4pm. This was also in my office, so I was still handling questions. I can only legally work 4 more hours this week, bu there's not much left, so I'll just take what I need and go. Maybe reduce a few hours next week, it's Easter Break soon anyway. I did manage to play a bit of Dawn of Sorrow while I watched the rest of Conan in Dallas, though, so I guess I beat you there by not playing my equivalent of Spider Solitaire, which is http://freetetris.org. lol

Watching: I'm going to Winter Soldier today at 2pm with a friend. I'm excited! I need to catch up on Netflix, I still haven't finished House of Cards or started Attack on Titan.

Listening: Nice mix of 80s and Macklemore (and Dropkick Murphys). lol Speaking of which

Damn, I wish I could find the original Vs. EP. Anyway, here's the Redux remix I have from the Redux edition on iTunes:

This may be the one Redux song I might actually thinks improves on the original.

As for me, I think you know what I've been listening to thanks to my job, but I'm not complaining. I am stil shamelessly plugging, however. http://ksauradio.com Laughing

Reading: Believe it or not, when I picked up my ex from work earlier in the week and took her to Wally World (she bought some meds and a um ... Disney coloring book, cause she had had things done to her that day that made her say she needed that coloring book. lol), I bought Divergent. For some reason, my copy with the movie tie-in picture is a lot bigger than the original cover, even though I read them both before buying and they are the same book otherwise. Weird. Must be bigger print in mine. I read the first chapter of that and The Giver, which my friend recently gave back to me. I want to relive my untainted memories before that dumb movie comes out.

Ranger Stuff: Cool video! What camera are you using?

Ranger1

04/11/2014 at 07:22 PM

Agh! Overload! Thanks for the vids. And that video was taken with my little point-and-shoot Panasonic Lumix DMC LZ7, the camera I take most of my photos with.

Sorry. I tend to be long-winded, I know, but when I have something I want to say about nearly everything posted in a blog, I say it. lol

Winter Soldier is an awesome Bourne movie.

I'll consider that camera, thanks!

I hate when I'm too tired to play video games. Makes me feel cheated. Well, I guess thats what Netflix is good for.

Ranger1

I'm OK with it for now. Spring seems to have finally arrived in southern Maine, so the outdoor time is rather enjoyable. I usually take a break from gaming at this time of year because of that anyway.

I'm right the opposite here New Orleans. At best I might have one more month before it becomes a giant misserable sauna. Then all I want is to stay inside in the ac. Although, this is the harshest winter we have had down here in a long time. For the first time ever I'm actually kind of tired of the cold.lol

Ranger1

04/11/2014 at 10:21 PM

We still have snow. It's been the winter that wouldn't die. Even parts of the bay froze over here this past winter. Do you know how cold it has to be to freeze salt water? Zero degrees, for an extended period of time. But I'm with you - heat and humidity is so much worse than the cold.

Love Red Dirt Girl but it cannot stand against Wrecking Ball as my most favouritist ELH album. :)

Ranger1

04/11/2014 at 10:15 PM

I think Red Dirt Girl is my favorite, but I'll have to track down Wrecking Ball to make an informed decision :)

There's a fish hatchery close to my family's cottage in New Hampshire.  We used to drive by and see the blue herons hanging out near the fish pools trying to snag a free meal.  I'm sure a few of them found ways to get around all the netting.  They're cool birds.

Ranger1

The same thing used to happen at the fish hatchery in Gray, Maine. The osprey used to get in on the action, too. Where in NH?

Haven't been playing games that much either, mostly due to getting caught up on reading.

Ranger1

04/14/2014 at 02:35 PM

I wish that were my excuse. What have you been reading?

I was reading the second half of A Feast for Crows, but got sidetracked by some of the new graphic novels my brother picked up. I've also started reading this webcomic called Girl Genius that's pretty interesting.

Ranger1

04/15/2014 at 05:49 PM

My friend Michael keeps telling me I need to check out that webcomic.

My wife and I loved the Winter soldier too. She was confused at first because she forgot most of the first move but was content seeing how hunky Captain America was. Plus she wondered why he didn't get with Black Widow.

Ranger1

I think Black Widow may have a thing for Hawkeye.
