Chronicles Disgaea") is a video game series of tactical role-playing games created and developed by Nippon Ichi. The series debuted in Japan on January 30, 2003, with Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, later re-released as Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness and Disgaea DS. One of Nippon Ichi's most popular franchises, it has branched off into both amanga and anime series. The Disgaea games take place in a fictional universe called the Netherworld and are known for their uncommon RPG elements, such as complex gameplay, extremely high maximum statsand humorous dialogue. Main characters in the series often include cynical, power-hungry antiheroes forced to fight alongside heroic foils, much to their disdain. The Disgaea series has sold 1.7 million games as of November 2011.

            Disgaea Hour of Darkness

A direct sequel, taking place 10 years after the end of the game, namedDisgaea Dimension 2 was announced for PlayStation 3 in 2012, and stars the main cast (and additional new characters) of Hour of Darkness.

Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness (Disgaea Dimension 2in the Japanese version) is a game for the Playstation 3 released as part of Nippon Ichi Software's 20th anniversary. It was released on March 20th in Japan and on October 8th, 2013 in North America. The game's events take place after those in Disgaea: Hour of Darkness

Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories is the second installment in the Disgaea series, introducing new characters, new story and improved gameplay, as well several new features, such as the Dark World, the Land of Carnage, and Stack Attacks. Developed and published by Nippon Ichi Software, the game was released in Japan on February 23rd, 2006 and in North America on August 29th, 2006. It was later released in Europe and Australia during November of that year. Story wise this one is actually part 4 in America its part 3 The ps3 D2 is actually the second part of the story.

The third video game in the Disgaea series by Nippon Ichi. It was released for the PlayStation 3 video game console. Jack Niida, Localization Director for NIS America, has stated that "Disgaea 3will have a downloadable content feature through the PlayStation Network to download new and old returning characters".

2011 tactical role-playing video game for thePlayStation 3 and the fourth in the Disgaea series by Nippon Ichi Software. The game tells the story of Valvatorez, a former tyrant leading a party to rebel against the president of the Netherworld. Originally released in February 2011 in Japan, the game was released in September that year in the U.S., with a European and Australian release in November.[4] NIS America confirmed on February 13, 2014 that they will release the Vita rendition of Disgaea 4, subtitled A Promise Revisited, this summer for North America and Europe.

Disgaea is one of my favorite series and the numbering in the series can be confusing but just remember D2 although released way later and technally is number 5 but it takes place immediately after Hour of Darkness making it quote number 2 but due to the fact it was released years after part 2 was released so hopefully this makes it less confusing, this series may take a life time to finish if you were to do everything you can do but totally worth playing and one of NIS best series and considered by many as the Flagship of NIS games.
