FFX: Great Memories

Final Fantasy to me was the last great Final Fantasy title to be released. It was an emotional tale and incredible journey. I have to say going back to it, I was a bit put off with the dialogue which was pretty cheesy at times. With that said, I could forgive it for its translation and it being an older game that doesn't have the quality of voice acting like today's standards.

My past enjoyment of the game was when I was a seaman in the Navy. I remember when I fighting you know who at the end while we are where going through drills for an inspection period. It was long days so with my downtime, I played FFX on the ship and remember the moment beating him. I was using a 13 inch tv and had the tv set up on the coach. Other people were sleeping, I was getting my game on.

After all those years to go back to revisit, it was the best fresh experience of something I have already played through. I haven't been big on returning for games but nostalgia has kicked in and it made me more interested in playing Final Fantasy XIV just so I can some of that fix. It also made me more anxious in playing South Park: Stick of Truth when I already want to play it.

Final Fantasy X is the best example of a remaster that I have personally experienced. It is more than 10 years old and they were able to make it look very sharp. I am impressed with how it looks. This time I took my time enjoying the game. My first run through the game was simply to beat it. I explored everything I came across (and still missed things). It was fun just running around in game of a genre that I had been a huge of. I wish and hope with Square Enix's odd revelation that we want traditional hardcore JRPGs that we will get more of them sooner than later.

I would imaging that a great game is made even greater with a slight graphical face lift. I had a similar type of experience with the HD versions of Silent Hill 3 and Kingdom Hearts.

Yeah, Kingdom Hearts remaster was very impressive and always loved Kingdom Hearts. I think FFX impresses me more because of the larger scale of the game and it has more details compared to KH's vibrant colors and such. Either way, Square Enix has easily made itself a great track record for remasters.

Im hoping for an HD remake of FF 12. That game is so HUGE!

FFX is a great game. I picked up the HD remaster. I liked FFXII better though. To me, that was the peak of the FF series (aside from VII, which is in a class of its own.)

Yeah, FFXII was just a bit too different for me but the big thing was that I got lost in the game and was very busy during that time and ended having other games to play. I really hope we could possibly see a remaster of it. I know it could be possible and they know some want that. Its just hard for me to go back to that game now on the PS2.

I really like FFXII but never beat it.  I'm still stuck at the demon wall.  I know what you mean by it being so different.  I had finished every domestic release of FF released up til that point but FFXII is SO hard!  It made this RPG vet feel like I had no clue how to play them.

Yeah. It definitely was one of the hardest titles I came across. I had a hard time going through the area with...was it dinosaurs? Not an easy time.

it is great, and I've loved playing it again.  It's not my favorite (IX is) but it's a great story and very touching tale.

I wish they didn't make XI a "final fantasy" game numbered in the series. It makes no sense because it sets itself part in so many ways. I never got into MMOs and only interested in XIV because its the only FF fix I can get right now until the long wait for the next one.

XIV does feel like a Final Fantasy game, it's just not very story driven like real ones.  But it does feel like a Final Fantasy world.

That is what I need. I am big on story telling and the games have always immersed me into their stories that felt like a fun journey. With that said, I been interested in trying XIV but it won't likely happen. I don't have money right now for a monthly subscription.

I only rented it once and turned it back in when I got to the temple thingy and that confusing grid thing showed up, but it did look pretty.

Nostalgia's great though and that's awesome that ten years in the future, they can improve the experience.

I don't like looking at guides because I feel they spoil the experience but after a rent, I think you could of find where to go online. That is what I probably would have done if I ever rented a game.

Honestly, the grid probably confused me simply cause I don't usually play JRPGs. I kinda just rented it cause it was getting reviews and it looked shiny.

This was my third time playing the game and yeah, I still really enjoyed it. I'm not a fan of the remixed tunes. I feel like they sound different just for the sake of being different. Other than that though, it is a fine remaster. I was hoping to get all the aeons and other optional stuff this time, but the optional bosses in this International Edition make the game way harder.

I am getting frustrated trying to be Dark Shiva. She is driving me crazy.

I didn't like FFX too much when I played.  I did finish it though.  I plan to get the hd collection and play through it again.  Maybe I'll enjoy it more my 2nd time through.  I hadn't touched the game in years.

Really? Well we all have our own tastes. Which one did you enjoy the most in the Playstation era?

I didn't really like many of them.  The first Final Fantasy game I really enjoyed was FF12.  After that, I played FF3 on the DS.  I liked that one also.  Played FF13 too.  I didn't like that one, but loved the battle system.  Before I played FF12, I played FF1, FF7, FF8, and FF10.  I didn't like any of them.  I actually finished FF10.  I wasn't a big fan of rpgs back then, so maybe I'll enjoy some of them now.  I'm planning to play FF6 at some point this year.
