Greetings Pixlbit, how was your weekend? We have another start to a week and for my little piece of Southern California that means saying goodbye to the cool weather because I’m staring at 90 degrees for the rest of the week. Yup it is getting warmer and I have to start waking up earlier to avoid to the heat if I want to do fun stuff like CD Sundays and roaming around to find the latest and greatest in deals. You would think this would have happened this past weekend, but with the Stagecoach folks in town (for those out of the loop, think Coachella-fest but with Country Music), I decided to once again stay indoors for most of the weekend and “try” to make some progress in Mount Backlog. Instead of trying to knock out a game or two that’s been sitting on the list, I played a ton of MLB The Show, but you good folks will read about that in a bit.
Before we get to what I played I have to get a couple of things out of the way

Sorry SuperStep, but the Ducks are moving on. Be sure to wear Ducks Orange at In-N-Out. Being a Dallas Cowboys fan I like to blame this guy

Sorry Stars fans
Because every jersey/gear he touches that team loses

Sorry Duke fans

And he does it a lot in this one. I’m part of the problem, I own the whites and bad luck blues of his jerseys. I’m hoping someone hands Tony this jersey
Ok back to video game talk, I spent a ton of time playing a couple of games, but one game I spent the most time playing and that was MLB The Show. As I mentioned earlier my created Chris was tearing up AA ball, and was brought up to AAA ball, where more of the same happened. My player made the two All-Star games (USA vs the World, and Minor League All-Star games) but he was stuck at number two on the organization depth chart because the Dodgers have Handley Ramirez. Before the All Star game I saw this message

One game after the All-Star break my character’s contract was bought out and he was heading to the Show. At this point I stopped playing on the Vita, and went to the PS3 just to see the MLB Stadiums. I played the rest of July, All of August, and a couple of games in September in one day.

My created player hit for the Cycle, and is currently on pace to win the NL Rookie of the Year Award. The team that drafted me is currently in a heated pennant race against Arizona

Oh the irony that I am playing in a Dodgers uniform. When Free Agency hits I’m taking my talents somewhere else (actually the current lineup is pretty good because there is a murders row of batters Adrian Gonzalez, Matt Kemp, Me, and Puig). One thing I wish that was in the game is that if you hit the pitcher, you get a trophy. I hit a line drive shot off the pitcher over the weekend and it knocked him out of the rotation of a couple of weeks.
One odd thing I found for my gameplay is that when I am in a slump on the PS3, I'll upload my game to the Vita, and I'm hitting everything in sight. When I run into a cold streak on the Vita, back to the PS3.

I bought this game awhile back on the X-Box Marketplace and I finally started it up. As much as I like Starship Troopers, I wasn’t too fond of what I played. I don’t know why, maybe baseball on the brain, but at times I found it to be a struggle to finish a level because I was getting bored. Shooting the big ass bugs was fun, but the objectives in the mission were blah. I’m not giving up on this game, but I am probably going to wait a couple of days before tackling it again.

I think this was a freebie on PS+. I like the puzzles, and the combining of monsters. It reminds me of similar games on Android that I liked, but one thing that bothered me is that there is so much talking. I just wanted to jump into the game, but I went through the tutorial, and that quickly became annoying. I don’t know yet if this will stay on the Vita.
I decided to use my old iPhone as a gaming device, so I added a couple of games to it and spent some time on the couch playing these games

I had a copy of 2048 on my iPad so I played it on my phone and after a couple of minutes I took down the 2048. I think I made it as far as hitting the 2048 and having a 1024 tile on the board as well.

Another game that was added to my old phone was Batman Origins. I felt this was fitting since I was playing Blackgate on the Vita (I’m currently lost…again), and on the PS3. It plays a lot like Batman Arkham City Lockdown and Injustice with a lot of tapping and swiping. One positive is that you link your WB account and unlock a special suit.

It’s the usual hit a button on the map, take down bad guys, earn cash for upgrades, rinse repeat.
The Graphics aren’t bad, but I do wish there was a bit more to this game, but I can’t complain about a free game that doesn’t hamper you with in-app purchases.
And the final game I played this weekend was more of Family Guy Quest For Stuff. This weekend there was supposed to be more rare items popping up and buildings that were 50% off. The buildings weren’t, and it did seem like more rare items to unlock different skins for the characters kept popping up, but other than that, it was the same old stuff. I did however unlock the dock area and I am currently saving money to repair it.

Since Spring is here I thought I would do some Spring Cleaning of the Nexus7. There are a bunch of games on my tablet that I haven’t touched in a long while, or got tired of. I can always re download them because they are linked to my Google Account, plus I need to make room for some of the Humble Bundle stuff
This is my games list before

And here it is after. I will start adding more Humble Bundle games once I take down Deus Ex and other games that sit on my tablet.

Well Pixlbit it’s time to end this blog, so have a good week!
That’s all for now, more later!
-Chris
