Greetings Pixlbit, how was your weekend? We have another start to a week and for my little piece of Southern California that means saying goodbye to the cool weather because I’m staring at 90 degrees for the rest of the week. Yup it is getting warmer and I have to start waking up earlier to avoid to the heat if I want to do fun stuff like CD Sundays and roaming around to find the latest and greatest in deals. You would think this would have happened this past weekend, but with the Stagecoach folks in town (for those out of the loop, think Coachella-fest but with Country Music), I decided to once again stay indoors for most of the weekend and “try” to make some progress in Mount Backlog. Instead of trying to knock out a game or two that’s been sitting on the list, I played a ton of MLB The Show, but you good folks will read about that in a bit.

Before we get to what I played I have to get a couple of things out of the way

Sorry SuperStep, but the Ducks are moving on. Be sure to wear Ducks Orange at In-N-Out. Being a Dallas Cowboys fan I like to blame this guy

Sorry Stars fans

Because every jersey/gear he touches that team loses

Sorry Duke fans

And he does it a lot in this one. I’m part of the problem, I own the whites and bad luck blues of his jerseys. I’m hoping someone hands Tony this jersey

Ok back to video game talk, I spent a ton of time playing a couple of games, but one game I spent the most time playing and that was MLB The Show. As I mentioned earlier my created Chris was tearing up AA ball, and was brought up to AAA ball, where more of the same happened. My player made the two All-Star games (USA vs the World, and Minor League All-Star games) but he was stuck at number two on the organization depth chart because the Dodgers have Handley Ramirez. Before the All Star game I saw this message

One game after the All-Star break my character’s contract was bought out and he was heading to the Show. At this point I stopped playing on the Vita, and went to the PS3 just to see the MLB Stadiums. I played the rest of July, All of August, and a couple of games in September in one day.

My created player hit for the Cycle, and is currently on pace to win the NL Rookie of the Year Award. The team that drafted me is currently in a heated pennant race against Arizona

Oh the irony that I am playing in a Dodgers uniform. When Free Agency hits I’m taking my talents somewhere else (actually the current lineup is pretty good because there is a murders row of batters Adrian Gonzalez, Matt Kemp, Me, and Puig). One thing I wish that was in the game is that if you hit the pitcher, you get a trophy. I hit a line drive shot off the pitcher over the weekend and it knocked him out of the rotation of a couple of weeks.

One odd thing I found for my gameplay is that when I am in a slump on the PS3, I'll upload my game to the Vita, and I'm hitting everything in sight. When I run into a cold streak on the Vita, back to the PS3.

I bought this game awhile back on the X-Box Marketplace and I finally started it up. As much as I like Starship Troopers, I wasn’t too fond of what I played. I don’t know why, maybe baseball on the brain, but at times I found it to be a struggle to finish a level because I was getting bored. Shooting the big ass bugs was fun, but the objectives in the mission were blah. I’m not giving up on this game, but I am probably going to wait a couple of days before tackling it again.

I think this was a freebie on PS+. I like the puzzles, and the combining of monsters. It reminds me of similar games on Android that I liked, but one thing that bothered me is that there is so much talking. I just wanted to jump into the game, but I went through the tutorial, and that quickly became annoying. I don’t know yet if this will stay on the Vita.

I decided to use my old iPhone as a gaming device, so I added a couple of games to it and spent some time on the couch playing these games

I had a copy of 2048 on my iPad so I played it on my phone and after a couple of minutes I took down the 2048. I think I made it as far as hitting the 2048 and having a 1024 tile on the board as well.

Another game that was added to my old phone was Batman Origins. I felt this was fitting since I was playing Blackgate on the Vita (I’m currently lost…again), and on the PS3. It plays a lot like Batman Arkham City Lockdown and Injustice with a lot of tapping and swiping. One positive is that you link your WB account and unlock a special suit.

It’s the usual hit a button on the map, take down bad guys, earn cash for upgrades, rinse repeat.

The Graphics aren’t bad, but I do wish there was a bit more to this game, but I can’t complain about a free game that doesn’t hamper you with in-app purchases.

And the final game I played this weekend was more of Family Guy Quest For Stuff. This weekend there was supposed to be more rare items popping up and buildings that were 50% off. The buildings weren’t, and it did seem like more rare items to unlock different skins for the characters kept popping up, but other than that, it was the same old stuff. I did however unlock the dock area and I am currently saving money to repair it.

Since Spring is here I thought I would do some Spring Cleaning of the Nexus7. There are a bunch of games on my tablet that I haven’t touched in a long while, or got tired of. I can always re download them because they are linked to my Google Account, plus I need to make room for some of the Humble Bundle stuff

This is my games list before

And here it is after. I will start adding more Humble Bundle games once I take down Deus Ex and other games that sit on my tablet.

Well Pixlbit it’s time to end this blog, so have a good week!

That’s all for now, more later!

-Chris

See the blog I posted before this one titled "Really?"

I'm still wearing Whataburger orange to In N' Out. Tongue Out

I kid, I'll wear my friends' Ducks gear and take a picture of me wearing it while eating In N' Out in Cali. Or if you happen to be near Hollywood Hills the week of May 18 to 25, you can see it in person. lol

But yeah, I blame Romo for Mavs going 2-2 against Spurs now too after they cut to him wearing blue at the game. Uuuuuugh. lol

I read it, I still say our Perry is better than Texas' Perry.

Heck yeah Ducks gear! I hope Romo is getting all of his suck out of his system now, so he doesn't save it for the 4th quarter of Cowboys games this upcoming season.

I just got to get a smart phone or tablet sometime soon. So much great stuff I'm missing!

Heck yeah! I think I play more games on my Nexus7 than on the Vita/3DS XL. Speaking of which I need to check on my Family Guy game!

I got lost in Black Gate and haven't played it since.  I really do like that game, just lost patience.

I don't really like baseball, but I enjoy baseball video games and baseball movies.  I'm crazy like that.

Ah, Tony Romo.  Proof it isn't always cool to be famous.

Right? I'm supposed to go to this one spot, but I have no idea how to get back there, that's when I said F this I'm done for tonight...and that was I think two weeks ago. I'm hoping this break gets me back into finding that spot and hopefully on my to taking the game off Mount Backlog.

Haha, it's all good, I don't watch too much baseball right now because I now around the end of July I'll get burned out. There is a ton of games and I give nothing but props to folks who will sit and watch every single game.

The one thing I love about the The Show is that games are quick.

Oh Tony Romo...he has skills but dang there is always something that happens late in games with him when he tries to force something, and it usually ends up in an interception.

yeah I'm no fan of Romo, but I do feel sorry for him sometimes.  It's a lot of pressure, and it's really hard to be good at those points in the game.

Yup, Romo gets a lot of attention because he is the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys. No matter how good/bad the team is doing, that is a job that always has a lot of attention on it. Hopefully it does something this year where he can get this monkey off his back.

I reviewed EDF: Insect Armageddon and I didn't like it that much.  But I just reviewed EDF 2025 and I liked it a lot better.

Oh ok, glad I'm not the only one who wasn't all that jazzed about it. I'll give 2025 a try when it drops in price

I noticed in my game on family guy that the cosmetics didnt pop up like they should as much so I didnt get to enjoy in on that, of course I didnt really buy any more places. I dont have much space right now for a ton of buildings. I did just unlock Joe and am working on his quest line. Im not impressed with the fact that one of the quest though is about spending real money on a bundle pack. I know that the way they make their money is threw microtransaction but making a quest out of it is ridiclous. It shall forever be stuck on my quest bar.

I hate it when some of the tasks don't pay out. It almost feels like a waste. I bought the generic office buildings just so I can boost my hourly income. (The one thing I brought from my Simpsons game.) I saw that, and naturally I said my usual "F that". They're not getting a dime from me, and it will also be stuck on my quest bar.

I don't think I'd be able to get the hang of touchscreen phone games, I'd probably be more likely to drop it due to my butterfingers than do well.

You get used to it. I thought I'd hate a screen keyboard, and after a couple of months it's ok (nowhere near as good as a physical one) but it gets the job done.
