5 Characters Who Should Have Been in Mario Kart 8

I'm actually finding myself excited for MK8 despite Sonic wanting me to swear off the series. The new anti-gravity mechanics look fun, the tracks look like some of the best yet, and the online looks like Nintendo's best (not that it's saying much). The roster, on the other hand, leaves a bit to be desired. So here's a list of five characters I feel should be in this game. Well, a few more, but some are the kind of thing where I might as well throw the other in.

5. Geno

I haven't beat SMRPG, but I know someone will bring him up, so I'm going to assume he deserves this spot.

4. Wart

Why is it the last time we saw this guy, it was a fucking Zelda game? Nintendo, Wart's a fun villain. Not as fun as Bowser, but Batman's not always fighting the Joker. Diversify!

3. Kamek

The villain of the Yoshi Island series and one of Bowser's henchmen in Paper Mario, Kamek is nowhere near as close to Bowser on the villain list, but he's definitely a more important part of the Mario universe than any of the individual Koopa kids (not them as a whole) or any of the babies save Mario.

2. Cackletta/Fawful

The two most famous villains of the Mario and Luigi series, I've always had a soft spot for this game and wish Nintendo would return to the Beanbean Kingdom. I mean, why not make the next NSMB or 3D Mario in this kingdom, it's full of variety (arguably more than the Mushroom Kingdom) and would offer a new slew of baddies to face? But I digress, Cackletta and Fawful would bring a good amount of diversity and fun to the Mario Kart roster, standing out from all the humans and turtles.

1. Diddy/Dixie Kong

How is it that Donkey's now the only Kong? Diddy was in Wii, why shouldn't he return? Hell, I fucking mained Diddy, his omission feels very noticeable. And on that note, why shouldn't Dixie be in it either? People love Dixie, hell, who didn't find themselves at a point in DKC 2 where they were playing as Diddy and wish they had Dixie to glide?

I think they should've had Captain Syrup be in a Mario Kart game. Nintendo doesn't give her enough attention.

I'm glad they put the Koopa Kids in 8, though. I like them.

I've been wanting to see Kamek in a Mario Kart game for a while now. Not only was he a cool character, but he also has limitless possibilities in terms of his special attack!

I wish Nintendo would just drop the Mario moniker and expand the series out to the whole Nintendo line, like Smash Bros. It would be a lot more fun to see them draw from their many series than simply continue to rehash the same characters game after game.

Though I'm all for the Koopalings, I wasn't amused by that Metal Peach (I know she has another name but i'm not bothered to check) and Baby Rosalina. Like you, I would have prefered Diddy Kong and throw Bowser Jr for good measure.

I was shocked Diddy wasn't in there. I personally would have loved Kamek. But hey we got baby Rosalina which is clearly much more important...

I am pretty disappointed with the roster, they have tons of characters from Mario's entire history to use. The only new faces we are seeing here is the Koopalings. Pink Metal Peach is the same character as Peach and Baby Rosalina is the same as the other babies, I'm just fine with regular Rosalina. There was a ton of potential for it, I really wanted this to be the ultimate Mario Kart, it looks great and I'm excited but the roster is laking. The Mario Sport titles have more variety in characters, why not do that? Why not add some other non-Mario characters like Kirby, heck why not add Megaman or Sonic? Or Pac-man since he's on the Mario Kart GP games. That would be cool. Or maybe if they wanted, they could expand the roster with dlc, but we know that wont happen. But it's just Nintendo being Nintendo as usual.

I wouldn't be surprised if we see DLC for this game. They are doing it with Mario Tennis on the 3DS. It makes more sense to do it with Mario Kart. I like the idea of Kamek being on the roster. He should have been in one game already. That is a shame. I don't get why Diddy and Dixie are not either.

I could see wart in that game. Sure he's from Mario 2 that some don't consider a mario game but still.
