My Interview Went Well, Played Okamiden, & Mavs Forced Game 7

My Skype interview with plus10damage's David Gutsche went well this morning and the Mavs got lucky in the end to force game 7 on Sunday against the Spurs, 113-111 being the final score in game 6. Thank the Dallas Stars that three was short! Pretty good day for me despite fasting and going hungry, and I can't wait to (hopefully) write some articles/maybe even appear on podcasts with Blake and crew on plus10damage.

Nowitzki made some sick tough shots despite weirdly not making open looks, Ellis was goood offensively, Blair was good on defense, and Carter, Calderon, and Marion all made good plays. So a good game for the Mavs, but they need to work on passing (they blew an early double-digit lead with some stupid passes that caused turnovers) and some other stuff. Anyway, please enjoy these hashtags: #Mavsin7 #MFFL

Also of note: No cutaways to Romo if he was there.

Still Playing: Okamiden, in which I just picked up my most annoying companion: Chinese Lindsay Lohan. I don't care if she's Japanese and doesn't smoke crack, that's what I'm calling the arrogant witch on my back. That's where I got in the game before picking my friend up this morning. Not as good of a day for her, sadly. She was trying to get her money order in for her apartment, but ... seriously, what apartment complex closes at noon on a regular Friday?

I've also been playing basketball before and after workouts of course, having good shooting percentages even when contested. I wish I could do those one-legged Dirk shots though. Here's an excellent write-up I saw after the game about how much damage Dirk causes and how he's fundamentally changed how defense works in the NBA with his crazy accuracy (with some bittersweet talk of what an old-ass man he is): http://grantland.com/the-triangle/steve-nash-george-karl-and-others-on-dirk-nowitzki-and-the-unguardable-play/ Meanwhile, I, having worn his number (41) in grade school without even knowing it at the time, still have my one-handed shot that is super-effective so long as no one actually guards that easily blockable mess. But hey, people always seem impressed, so there's that, and luckily I tend to be fast enough that I get open looks. Heh.

Speaking of work outs: Today's was

one-armed rows 5 sets 10 each arm, 55lbs

goblet squats 5 sets 10, 60lbs

bench w/pause 5 sets 5 at 155lbs, 150lbs, then three sets of 145lbs

bicycle crunches 3 sets of 10 each leg

Nutrition: jack shit unless sweet and low has calories now, cause I went overboard yesterday celebrating pay day and getting a presentation over with by eating Panda Express (1345 cals on its own!), Chick Fil A and Sushi C's Chef's Special variety platter; then protein. So I did cardio yesterday, but plan on doing three more sprint hills today once I get home to make up for it even more. From now on, no days going over my calorie limit says my trainer/friend. Fine by me, I hate fasting, I just went a bit crazy.

Watching: Gonna try to finish up season 2 of House of Cards this weekend and see Amazing Spider-Man 2. I wanted to watch Caligula on Netflix the other night, but I fell asleep and they took it off by the time I woke up. Boooo! I wanna watch my favorite TGWTG producer, The Cinema Snob's favorite movie dammit! I also watched episode two of Pokemon: Indigo League the other day. Might start watching Digimon as well on Netflix, since I followed that for longer as a kid. Yes, I was "that kid."

Reading: I should get back to Divergent, which I bought at Wal-Mart cause why not a week or so ago, but I really want to read The Fault in Our Stars. I'll probably buy that one next time I'm at Wal Mart and read it before Divergent. I'm not having much luck with Game of Thrones, as it's a bit too Tolkien-esque for my taste in the opening pages. I just came here for tits, dude, I'm not ashamed to say it. Maybe I'd like the show better?

Listening to: Stone Cold Steve Austin's podcast, which is hilarious. I need to listen to the SchmoesKnow podcast about the reveal of the new Star Wars trilogy cast as well. I also just re-listened to the lastest NWP on Wrestlemania XXX and rasslin' vidjer games, since I actually found a Youtube video of Wrestlemania XXX and kinda liked it, despite having not paid attention since the late 90s and early 2000s when I was in junior high and The Rock and Stone Cold were by far the most popular wrestlers.

And of course, http://ksauradio.com  since I got new stuff in today I tweeted about on @KSAURADIO. I've also been interested in emotional songs from the 90s being done live, so I've been looking up such on Youtube. I'll close the blog out with those.

The opening to each of the Game of Throne books is pretty much completely different in style and tone than the rest of the book. I'd say get a few chapters in before you decide.

Those are some classic '90s emotional tracks there. I will leave YOU with a Pearl Jam song that seems to have disappeared from most peoples' minds:

To be fair, I don't know if that one ever appeared for me until now. You see, while I definitely grew up with my older brother's music, that being 90s metal and alt rock mostly, I didn't really get into all this until the late 90s and early 2000s at least. I definitely remember "Iris" the best of what I posted, probably cause it released in '98. I know, I'm a poser. I like the song though.

As for GoT, I'll try, but I don't like books that throw a bunch of characters at me right away. I felt relieved when my cousin David, who graduated from an MIT program that let him get his Master's and Bachelor's simultaneously and has literally engineered government sattelites, said LotR had too many characters for him to keep up with, among other things. I was like "see? I'm not dumb, that shit's just annoying!" Tongue Out

Of course, I've read and dug The Hobbit and once Fellowship got going, I liked the humor, so I'll be sure to give GoT a fair shot as well.

Use to love Live's Lightning Crashes. I guess I still do.

The only thing I don't like is I wish the song felt more complete. As is, it's more like a quiet half then a bridge and then a loud half. I want more of that loud half. More chorus I say!

Whoo! Hope to see you on board soon! David's pretty cool. A touch insane, but pretty cool. And yeah, one guy has already made it through, but no one else. I think he wants to make a good impression because he's given me 2 free games in two days lol.

Also... Pearl Jam are fucking awesome live. I saw them in '08 I think? Damn it was an amazing gig. When they played Last Kiss they got so into it. I'm not ashamed to admit I teared up a little.

Oh shit, competition. I better start thinking up free things to send you. I wonder how much international postage would cost to send you ... the thing ...

And I'd kill to see Pearl Jam live. But I wonder who, how, and how slow. Hmmm ... Kirby. He can't be let loose forever and his reign of terror warrants such an act.

Caligula eh?  I first watched it about the time i was your age.  Its not a bad movie but there is some gratuitous stuff in it.  Its pretty brutal in parts too.

thats cool u are playing basketball. I enjoy playing it or at least i did before i was a fat bastard.

Oh, I'm well aware of the Bob Gucccione produced sex scenes and gore thanks to The Cinema Snob's 100th Review special about it (or was it 200th? Dude has lots of videos). I just wanted to see it cause it's his favorite movie and he's my favorite online persoanlity.

And I've seen some fat bastards do pretty well with a rock on the paint.

You do a much better job of keeping track of your workouts and diet than I do.  I just do what I can, when I can.  Pretty soon you'll be super buff, I think.  I've been able to step up my workouts and diet a bit lately, so right now I feel like a million bucks.

Glad you're still enjoying Okamiden.  Right now I'm playing Kirby Triple Deluxe and reviewing Gardening Mama 2: Forest Friends!

I try, but it's not so much super buff as lean muscle I'm going for. What I'm doing will in no way make me loook like The Rock, it'll just get me in good human shape and hopefully net me a six pack. lol I'd bet you look a lot more buff than I do.

And nice, glad we're enjoying our games.

I have been working out 4-5 days a week to get back in summer shape. If you have an iPhone, and want to track your calorie intake I recommend the app "Lose It". I have lost 12 pounds so far.

Thanks, I actually used Noom Coach back when losing weight was my goal (I have Android). Went from 218 November 2012 to about 147 in 2013, but since I'm back doing muscle gain I'm around 165 or so now. Now, with only 2000 calories allowed a day and protein being 150g, it's not hard at all to keep track with no app.

Thanks though. Keep it up!

No I'm really not super buff or anything like that.  But I don't have trouble opening pickle jars or moving furniture either. :)

It's definitely one of the better Zeldas I've played. Laughing

Good ol' Pearl Jam, I haven't followed them in years, good to see they still got it.

I've been swinging in Nu Jazz of late mostly to discover many of the samples. I played Okamiden but I never finished it when I borrowed it.

I'll buy it soon.

Well that video was from a while ago, so who knows, maybe they lost it after all. Tongue Out

bro!!!

stick with Game Of Thrones...once you get the hang of the lingo and you begin imagining the surroundings the characters are in, it becomes terribly addicting.

All the characters and the suits of armor that are described in The Song Of Ice and Fire books looked waaaaay more badass in my mind than they do on the HBO show.  But the HBO show does good, in its own way.

Super Step Contributing Writer

The lingo's fine, I just don't like that he threw what appear to be five or six major characters in my face in the first couple pages. I'll try. Or just rent the DVDs.

no doubt, i can't argue that.  The show is pretty badass, i didn't mean to undersell it if i did!

Super Step Contributing Writer

05/03/2014 at 11:54 PM

Not at all. Frankly, even if you had, I kinda doubt that would have an impact on the MOUNTAINS of positive hype for the show, plus the fact everyone one here seems to like the books.

Heck yeah Stone Cold's podcasts are funny. I do like when he goes into what goes on behind the scenes. I don't listen to his as often but they are enjoyable. Chris Jericho also has a good podcast.

Thrones has a ton of characters, heck I'm caught up with the TV show, and currently almost to the middle of the third book, and I still do the  "Who the hell is this guy" when someone pops up.

I love his behind the scenes talk as well. For a while I thought Paul heyman was Penn jillette cause of their similar voices. lol

Lol at the Thrones thing.

Good luck on the 10Plus interview.

As for Game of Thrones, give it another try. It might seems Tolkien-ish at first, but much later the tone sets in. As for the character, I managed to cope with that and I didn't mind it.

05/04/2014 at 06:31 PM

I already had it before writing this blog and it went well, but thanks! lol

And the tone is already different, the character number is what gets me.

I've played basketball a few times and was dreadful. My aim's practically non-existant, even with a lot of practice. While a part of me wishes I was better, I just know it wasn't the sport for me.

Always aim at either the backboard or the rim. I have awful days, but I usually shoot at least 55% from wherever.
