For as long as people have been telling stories, writing songs, or painting pictures, they have all at one point or another used violence as means of setting up a scenerio and or bringing the story to a finish. Games are competitive and work best when using the same elements that also make stories work. Its all about conflict and drama. Its been around a long time. And I find it funny that the two groups responsible for more misery and death in the history of the world want to try and make scapegoats of things like violence in games and such. Those two groups being polititions and religious zealots. But I do believe in self censorship and that violenced can easily be turned into a shameless gimick as a means of amusement. I also think that violent games can be cathartic like hitting a punching bag making a person less likely to punch another person. It really comes down to balence and personal preference in my opinion.

This video at first might come off like he being a jerk or offending like but get to the end of the video.
Do you believe video games have desensitized us to war and violence? Or do you feel we already desensitized by the media shown on Tv? Do you agree video games show what society really thinks of war?
My Take: Video games and violence never really did anything to me growing up. As much as governments and just society in general wanna blame them for things that people do I cant follow nor agree with that train of thought. I also dont agree that Im desensitized because of them because for a most part, the media shows enough every day to make things from violent video games seem like the norm of human society. Humans are violent in nature. There is that urge we have that while some choose to ignore others choose to let it roam free. I have played violent video games a good portion of my life, not once have I thought of literally hurting or killing someone. Now has there been days I wanna smack someone, yes but I work in retail. I would never wanna actually hurt them like kill or make them bleed. At the same time Im not shocked anymore by what people do. I really am not, the last school shooting I heard about, didnt surprise me. I fet aweful for everyone involved but it didnt make me cringe in a corner. Its happened so much that im no longer shocked by it. Its a norm which is scarey of me to say but it is.
You cant keep someone away from violent things when its everywhere, and violence is indeed everywhere.
If this blog is a bit on the controvisal side, I wanna say that I dont mean to offend anyone but I like many others have a certain opinion. You dont have to agree oh no but lets agree to disagree in a civilized manner.
