Amazing Spider-Man 2: Almost Amazing

Acting, Characters, and Chemistry: Amazing

Action and SFX: Amazing

Story: Almost Amazing, save for some key issues, like ...

Villains: ... kinda not really even the focus, honestly. That for me was actually a good thing, as I was more interested in the personal relationships between characters and what was revealed about Oscorp and Peter's dad, etc. Having said that, I liked the sympathetic villains ...

Ending: ... which does not include Rhino, who I've never given two shits about and was thankfully in very little of the movie. That's all I can say without spoilers.

I felt this was a huge improvement on the good but plodding first reboot movie, as it re-injected that sense of fun from the Raimi movies while still nailing the emotional and serious scenes.

Overall, I'm definitely siding with the audience over the critics on this one as far as Rottentomatoes scores go. I definitely think this is a 76-77% kinda movie: very enjoyable summer popcorn flick, but definitely not the best thing ever. The 54% from critics is way too low, in my opinion, though I could see a fresh 65% being fair.

I had to open the station cause one of the DJs didn't get a shift covered he thought he did, but the after-credits sequence is actually just a trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past according to everything I've read.

There is a big reveal teasing future Spidey plotlines before the credits, though.

Yeah, I saw the rottentomatoes score, and according to their score, this movie is the worst Spider-man movie yet (worse than SM3 even!). However, you can't always trust what the critics say. It's all opinion mostly. I definitely want to see it; love the original trilogy!

I like the original trilogy more than the first Amazing, but that said, this may be my favorite Spidey movie so far. Maybe. I'll have to marathon all of them at some point.

I honestly lost interest in Spiderman after Spiderman 2 in the previous trilogy set. Not  saying it wasnt good just idk, it kind of just didnt catch my interest anymore. I however am gonna watch the first one  to this new series soon and see how I feel about it.

I had to do it......

First one is good, but definitely not as good as this sequel, in my opinion. The series is a lot different tonally and otherwise from Raimi's, so you might like it. If nothing else, the fact a guy whose last name is Webb is directing these is a pretty awesome fact.

I saw it last night as well. I actually really liked it. I enjoyed it being more light hearted than the previous one. I also really liked all the world-building stuff as well. Did you catch the Felicia refrence? My money's on that she's gonna be the Black Cat next movie. Also there was Alistaire Smythe for like, two scenes. That made the inner Spider-Fan in me happy. Also, the ending scene right before Rhino, I was literally jumping up and down in my seat. The movie does a really good job connecting all the villains. The one problem that I had with it though, was that some parts it just felt weird tonally. Like when they're jumping back and forth frome a scene with Peter and Gwen to a scene with the villains. Other than that, I thought is was great. I don't really understand why RT would give it such a low rating. Undecided It was definetly and 85% for me.

I did not catch any of those references and being unfamiliar with Spidey outside of games and movies, I have no idea who that second person you mentioned is, though I do like Black Cat. lol

As for the rating, it technically means there were mixed reviews, and that 54 out of every 100 critics seemed to like it, but it's still oddly low to me.

I still haven't seen Captain America and the Cold Soldier yet!

The Spiderman movies always make me dizzy, always swinging around and stuff.

I love the swinging in this, it has the best effects so far for a Spidey movie, but I can see how you'd get dizzy.

I think I will wait for this film to hit Bluray. Spider-man was never that interesting to me, but I did like Dr. Octopus because he had those robotic arms (younger Chris thought this was cooler than a guy in red and blue spider suit).

I always though Doc Ock was too goofy looking. In the cartoon in the 90s, he was in yellow and green and had a stupid haircut. Couldn't take him seriously.

Venom was where it was at for me.

Oh his hair was terrible but I liked robot arms over shooting webs.

As someone who deeply enjoyed the first ASP, I need to see it before it goes. I'd also seen similar things between the more "hardcore" nerds that are similar to the critics, but eh, not going to affect my opinion either way.

Meh. I tend to be on critics' side on many things, but this isn't the same. I understand the complaints, but I wasn't bothered enough by the problems not to like the movie a lot.

I didnt read any reviews going into this film, and wasnt sure about the plot other than electro? I didnt hate the first reboot with the lizard man, but holy f*ck was this movie awful! The only thing I enjoyed was the costume and the action sequences with Spider-Man in the suit, but I was really bored with the story and thought the acting was terrible all around. It reminded me of Batman & Robin, the one with Mr. Freeze. If you tought that movie was great, then you might enjoy this one. I can see how people might enjoy it as a popcorn movie with 'splosions, but as a Spider-man comic fan I wish the source material was taken more seriously like the Marvel/Capt. America/Dark Knight movies. Yell

I disagree completely. The 'splosions were nowhere near as captivating as the perfect acting and great emotional character interactions. Of course, I did love the action scenes anyway. Spider Man doesn't need to be bleak to be good. I love that they had that goofy, fun feel here in many scenes. As it should be.

Batman & Robin this is not. Not by a long, long, hundred-mile shot.

Hated the first, not even remotely interested in this. Looks like shite to me, and the only reason this fucked up franchise is in existence is so they can keep the license and Marvel can't make Spidey films. Ditto X-Men.

I know the reason it exists might be to make money for a particular company ... yet that's exactly why the first three existed, and this is my favorite of the five Spidey movies, the first one being a close second.

To each his own. I just didn't like it. Not because it was bad or anything, but because it was so average it hurt. That's just my opinion though.

Oh yeah, the first in this new series is kinda meh, but I really liked this one. It improved or expanded on everything I liked about the first in this reboot series and the stuff I didn't like about the first is pretty much gone.

I haven't seen this movie yet, though every time I read this movie being compared to Batman & Robin, I'm just wondering if they've seen that movie lately. It'd take a miracle to be that bad.

The villains are goofy like in that movie and there's definitely goofy stuff meant for kids (GOOD! Jesus Christ, not everything needs to be as bleak as Batman), but there are plenty of serious elements that work keeping it away from that territory. Plus, I'd say the goofy stuff, while incredibly stupid, is also incredibly fun to watch (for me), no just incredibly awful like B&R.

I'll still hold out on netflix before I see this. Not because of the reviews or the critics, I'm just not that big of a spider man fan.

Wait ... Netflix? The new Spider-Man flicks aren't on there.
