Delays Are Becoming Popular....

This morning I awoke to 2 news stories regarding separate games being delayed. One is Elder  Scrolls Online for consoles will be delayed at most 6 months, and Dying Light has been delayed till 2015 like the Witcher 3. Not to mention Feb 2015 to be excat. For those 2 titles thats kind of crazy, dont get me wrong if they need the extra time I rather they take it and make a good product its just weird in my opinion. It sends up the "WTF" signal is going on in Feb 2015. I figure they feel thats better release time for it but I dont know how well that will work. The Witcher  is a pretty solid series. I only played some of the first one so far but that amount showed a good game. Ive heard nothing but good for the most part about the series. If they plan to make a challenge with The Witcher 3 which would be odd in itself it might have a hard fight ahead. Regardless Ill prolly only buy one on release, if I can of course and the other will have to wait a time.

As for Elder Scrolls Online I saw it coming. If any of you have watched youtubers play it you have seen why. Hell if you have played it on PC then you prolly know its not a great game, it has a lot of issues that make an average game. Not worth a subscription fee really and not to mention i found out that people who bought it on PC had to actually set up there subscription already and apparently for those who choose the debit/credit way they were pre authorized the payment of a month. Now the payment isnt suppose to stick, atleast I dont  think so but if you  dont have the funds it will cancel it and not let you play ur "FREE" time. Some went out and bought time cards, to get into the game, which is ridiclous. If you offer a month free, deliver on your offer. Dont force people to set there subscription up right there. I didnt get charged a pre authoraztion for FF14, so why cant the same apply to Elder Scrolls Online? This game will mostly likely go free to play within the  first year. I dont see any other way for it to succeed has subscription based.

Anywho thats some of the interesting news I have seen come up. Delays are getting popular which might jsut be a good sign. I think developers are picking up that  they need to make sure their game runs good on release and have what they say it will insteadof a broken  game and missing parts of it or jsut plain rushed out. Can they get annoying and cause some doubt on how a game stands? yes, but they do give developers needed time to make sure the game is 100%.

Im hopeing that with the extra time these games get what they need.

Game delays used to bother me, but not anymore.  I've got plenty to play already anyway.

Delays have always been a part of video games. I'd rather have a good game delayed than a buggy piece of shit rushed to market to beat a deadline.

I agree with this.

Hopefully, delays don't mean "well, we did our best, download the rest."

It's not developers that are pushing delays, but publishers. February is the "golden month" they give themselves if their game isn't ready before the end of the holiday season. It gives them a month or two extra to print and ship copies to retail. Delays are never good, only acceptable in certain circumstances.

I'm ok with delays if it means the developers caught something wrong in their game, and are fixing. Plus it also means a little extra time to save up some cash....and then there are folks like myself who just wait for sales months after the game is released.

I kinda don't like reading about delays, but if it's to improve a game I don't think it's that bad. At least as long as it doesn't become a Duke Nukem Forever situation.
