First Monday of Maymester

I'm taking defensive driving, cause I am trusted to be a back-up van driver for the trip. Luckily, my professor will also be driving, so I'll have some opportunities to relax on the rides, which is one of my favorite parts of any "field trip": joking around with people on the way there.

But hey, the university is paying the $25 for me to take this course, and I get a %10 discount on insurance, apparently, so I'll take it.

We also presented a Powerpoint today about the difference between a journal (basic facts) and a reflection (emotions about the events and whatnot); we being the three grad students enrolled. Really, one of my classmates did the Powerpoint and myself and the other girl added a couple slides to it, mine being a hypothetical scenario of Andy Richter being a dick to me at Warner Bros. Studios, punching me and spitting in my sammich.

Other than that, I did manage to finish House of Cards season 2 over the weekend. The finale wasn't as good as last season's, nor this season's opener, cause I felt it was a bit predictable, where last season's last few episodes and especially the start of season 2 had a lot of "holy shit!" moments for me. It's still a great show and I want to see where they (can) go from here, so the fact Maryland is having legal disputes with the crew that delay season 3's release date is annoying to me. Hopefully, everything gets settled and I don't have to wait until 2016 for another season!

I will try to finish Tomb Raider if I have time before I am forced to take it off my computer and put it back in the steamy Steam cloud. I'll have to do that cause we agreed to use our laptops etc. to hold some of the footage from the Go Pro and Flip cameras we're taking on the trip with us to document our time in L.A. We even discussed setting up one of the Go Pros for people to have one-off interviews, Real World etc. style, since we'll be staying in the same place. lol

Hope you all are doing well.

just some projects, and we have a new puppy here that is very demanding.  Haven't gotten into my old routine since my friend KAtharine and her baby left either...

Yeah Defensive Driving! Remember to hate everyone on the freeway, and hate the 405. For some reason when I hear defensive driving I imagine the stuff Secret Service does: crazy 180 turns in a limo, trying to avoid rockets being shot at them, etc. I blame the movies.

Talk of finishing Tomb Raider makes me want to start Tomb Raider, but once the PS3 is running, hitting the start button on The Show usually happens.

The secret service now in real life is probably mostly hackers refreshing pages and looking for site loopholes. Sad day. lol

The Show is that baseball game you keep talking about, right?

Yup The Show is the baseball game I keep playing. Yesterday I only played four games in the Road To The Show Mode (you only play when it's your turn to bat, or you are involved in a defensive play which I think took an hour total)

So what's this Maymester thing you're doing?

2 week (and 3 day) course, started on Monday, where the first week we prepare for and the second week go to L.A. to Meet the Media, ie Rodeo Drive, Insomniac Studios, Warner Bros. Studios, Staples Center and/or Angels ballpark etc.

We're already doing some cool stuff for it. Today we interviewed Bruce Rosenblum, which I talked about in my blog today. I can't share the details of the interview, since he requested the audio not be used other than for us to take notes on, but it was pretty cool.

Getting paid to take a course? That's a definite plus.

Not getting paid, just had the course fee waived.

For defensive driving anyway. The class course all came outta my pocket, including $600+ for "fees," about $1000 for tuition, $292 for plane ticket, etc. plus what I'm spending to eat and get while I'm in L.A.

Go Pros? No real decent digital video recorders? Or have Go Pros become more advanced as of late?

Go Pros are easier to get on a plane.
