Taken from Kotaku:

"Swiss artist H.R. Giger, made famous for his work designing the iconic creatures in the Aliens series, has passed away at the age of 74.

TV station SRF and SWI report that he died as a result of "injuries sustained in a fall".

Aside from his work on the Alien films, Giger also worked on the Dune movie that never was, as well as some pretty awesome video games."

I really loved Giger's work. It was so surreality ergonomic. A sad day for Aliens fans as well anyone who loves that weird style of his.

damn that sucks.  I had never heard of the Dune stuff. I have read all six novels.  That's crazy.

I could never sit through the entire Dune movies, too long. I knew him mostly from his work on Alien.

Man, really a sad news to hear after school, especially when it's the creator of the Xenomorph, one of my favorite film creatures.

R.I.P Giger.

This one image makes me think of Hieronymus Bosch. Something about those shapes are strangely biological as well as alien.

This man's creativity was the source of many a childhood nightmare for me.
