Happy Victoria Day Weekend!
The weather is crap here, too. Woke up this morning wondering what the cold thought it was was doing in my apartment during Spring.

The Victoria Day long weekend is almost upon us. The weekend that Canadian's celebrate Queen Victoria's Birthday which is May 24th. Most Canadians refer to this weekend as the May Two Four Weekend.
Yes folks like many of the confusing things that we Canadians do we celebrate May 24th on May 19th.
Actually it's a different date every year but only on May 24th once in a while. According to the chart I just looked at, the last time it was celebrated on the actual day was 2010 and it doesn't look like there's another one until after 2020.
The really cool thing about the May Two Four weekend (other than the fact that it's named after a Canuck Colloquialism for a case of 24 beers) is that me and some other Gemini dude on this site share the day with good Queen Vicky.
So my birthday isn't until May 24th but what better excuse for an extended celebration than a pre-birthday long weekend brimming with fun and the contents of many tall cans.
Another Canadian May Two Four tradition is that the weather is always crap. Tomorrow and Saturday we will barely break 12 degrees celcius here in South Western Ontario but people will flock to their cottages (or cabins as you murcens call them.) to have a heapin' helpin' of their hospitality. Get drunk that is. Fallin' down, beachside bars.
Anyway I regress. Have a great weekend those of the toque and plaid jacket persuasion. Take off eh!
I mentioned that because I once said cottage to someone in Boston and after much explanation I found out that they called a place by the lake that you go to on the weekends a cabin.
We call them cottages and they can in fact be made out of logs if you have a lot of money.
