A sad day for comedy.

It still lasted for 5 seasons. That's pretty good for a show that had fuck all viewers.

NBC couldn't have been bigger dicks about it by cutting it off after season 5. Maybe to compensate, there'll be a one-episode "season" and a straight-to-DVD movie.

I mean personally, I think this is kinda funny, but I never followed the show, so I guess I'm just an asshole.

Yep. It's hugely dickish. HUGELY dickish. Although there is talk that Netflix might pick it up.

That would be cool and make sense.

i don't really watch TV but I heard this was pretty good.

Pretty good is an understatement. They did an episode based within an 8 bit mmo with more references than Super Meat Boy. They did an episode based on Dungeons and Dragons. They did an episode with multiple timelines. They did one with zombies. THE SHOW IS THE EPITOME OF GEEK COMEDY!

I'm not realy that upset since we got more out of this show then we could possibly expect realistically with the way the world works. Not really agreeing with the just starting to get good again, it was brilliant at the beginning of season 5, but really hit or miss after Troy left. Didn't help that they gave us back to back Shirley heavy episodes following it.

And if it means Dan Harmon ends up making more Rick and Morty episodes, I might actually be happy with this. That show allows for more flexibility for his style of humor, he could never pull off an episode like "Meeseeks and Destroy" or "Rixty Minutes" in Community to the same effect.

Meh. Community hasn't been as good since they butchered Chang and Britta in season 3. I mean it was still good, but not amazing in the way the first two seasons were. Season 5 fixed a few of the problems, but it still wasn't amazing. Season 5 has been a bit hit or miss.

I actually prefer screw up Britta over self-righteous Britta. Couldn't stand her for a while.

Really? Self righteous Britta had a personality at least. They already had an idiot in the group, I feel like they didn't need another one.

They were idiots in different ways, which made it work. Troy was just an idiot but Britta always thought she was an intellectual, but then Jeff would point out everything she was doing wrong. That's a personality. About halfway into season 1 I started to see Britta as a moron, it was just that season 3, they actually started calling her out on it.

I've only seen clips of Community, but I know it's an awesome show. I'd rather watch that than watch Big Bang Theory.  Community does well at accentuating geek-dom without the off-putting snark of Big Bang.

The Big Bang Theory is the third worst show in history. First and second are Two and a Half Men and Will and Grace. If Chuck Lorre has made anything else, that list may be bigger.

Even though I agree season 5 has been kind of hit-or-miss, I'm still going to really miss the show.  When it was good, it was brilliant.  When it was not-so-good it was still better than the vast majority of other 30-minute comedy shows.  It actually made me kind of sad when I heard about the cancellation.

I guess at least Harmon can focus on other things, which I hope turn out to be as great as Community.  To be honest, I'm not really sure what to think about Rick and Morty (co-created by Harmon).  For me, that show has been extremely hit-or-miss.  I'll probably keep watching it if it continues, but I also wouldn't really care or notice if it didn't come back.

A friend of mine showed me a few episodes but I didn't get hooked. They were ones with Chevy Chase in them. Maybe in Season 1. I may give it another shot sometime. There's been plenty of shows I didn't get into right away, but then became favorites on second viewing.

Season 2 is the best. It's probably best to start from there.

It's a shame this show has ended. Hopefully someone picks it up because it's such a good show.
