Nice! Yeah, this will probably be game of the year for me unless something amazing comes out. Not as good as the first, but still amazing.

It's not my favorite Souls game of the three, that would be Demons, but all three games are my fav games of all time, or at least last and current gen anyway. DS1 isn't bad either. I'd put that second, then DS2. I think trying to top DS1 was too daunting of a task. I think the over emphasis on melee and tons of trash monsters everywhere was a bit over played by the devs. I really feel like this game was designed for multi-player in particular.

 I prefer Dark Souls over Demon's Souls... but only just. Demon's Souls has more horror elements, and I really dig the Tower of Latria area... it's my favourite in the series in terms of atmosphere.

Yeah I'm with you. In terms of playability, Dark Souls 1. Atmosphere Demons Souls. And DS2 isnt bad at all, there are just slight deviations in preferences and wants from these games. I played through Demon and Dark prior and I've basically had a really good time the last few months replaying Souls. Im a solo player because I didnt understand the multiplayer that much when the games came out at first, so I just stuck to my habits. Also, I noticed in NG+ that there are extra phantoms thrown into boss fights now? Umm no!

too fucking cooll...i'll be hitting you up for advice.  Now, since you've finished, what order would you recommend people play the Souls games in?

I was listening to a podcast earlier and a dude suggested it be played in this order: DS2, Demons, DS1.  Do you agree?

I am by no means an expert player at all. I suffer through all of these games because I tend to solo through them, but still have fun doing it. 

As far as the order goes. Hmm...? So, umm..okay, if you are new to the Souls games and are starting out with DS2, then I think it is a good start because it seems to have more multi-player emphasis, so you are likley to receive help from other players to get through this game and you should definitely look for it if you get stuck. One problem I have with this game is that in a few instances you are expected to juggle between 2-3 bosses at  one time, which only rarely happened in previous games. And when it did it was a nightmare, but memorable. Here they do it more it seems like. 

I really feel like these games are independent of each other and offer different experiences. New people are starting out with this game and getting into multiplayer--with friends. Im not sure how active the multiplayer is in Demons Souls or Dark Souls. Dark Souls will provide some familiar themes and possibly lore to Dark Souls 2. Demons is its own seperate world. 

Also I think DS2 and Demons have a similar level design and play very similarly. I think thats why your podcast recommends playing DS2 and Demons. DS1 is a large interconnected world fully explorable that has shortcuts back into itself, and feels more like a Metroid or Castlevania game. 

I recently played Demons, then DS1, now DS2.  But DS2 and Demons are very similar in level progression-- lyou basically need to survive till you get to the next bonfire.

Arent the demons souls servers shutting down sometime?  I remember reading something...

i remember seeing something about this back in mid-2013...but in the same article it detailed that the servers would stay up and the world tendency would shift towards perma-white or something of that nature

This only affects the multi-player aspect. I think the server support was extended, but there are still NPCs available to help you with boss fights I think? 

I love Demon's Souls but I've gotten absolutely nowhere in it. I found it too hard, but I respect it's combat system. I know I can master it if I put some time into it, and I will, sometime. If an exclusive Demon's Souls game comes to PS4, I'm going to have a hard time resisting getting the system for it.

I know what you mean. I had a love/hate relationship with these games at first, but there are other things that pulled men in to the games  like the atmosphere, lore and variety of weapons and move sets to name a few. I also really liked the gigantic bosses of the first two releases. And DS2 is quite a beautiful game actually. Kind of like what I imagine an HD Zelda would look like honestly.

I love the design of the Souls games. Every last pixel and sound bite of them.

Yeah, the game is incredible. I haven't beat it yet. I can fight the last boss if I wanted to and already took out the too guardians or whatever they are called. Luckily before finding out they would be there if I didn't beat them before going into memories.

Anyway, I love the game immensily. I still think it has the best multiplayer than any game out there. It utilized it in creative ways that I wish others would replicate. I think the enemies designs are always creative and unique. There is a lot I could say I love about these games. Right now Dark Souls 2 will easily be the game of the year. Batman Arkham Knight is the only game I can see amazing me nearly as much. I am excited for Destiny and Watch Dogs but neither I see amazing me as much as Dark Souls 2.

Darks Souls 2 is really great. My issues with it are only minor. Multi-player seems to be a major focus this time around. Arkham Knight looks impressive, but so does that Lord of the Rings game, Mordor or something. 

Congrats! I'd love to at least try the game out but I don't have much confidence in my laptop to run it properly.
